They gotta bring back the upcam on the umpires. That was a cool angle.

****in tears man, I miss this. I had to listen to this game on the radio because it was blacked out in South Florida. ****in plebs of fans not selling out a playoff game! How spoiled. Now we would kill to have a playoff game back in our stadium.

I hope Tannehill does it. We need it man! I need it! I wasnt even in high school yet when we won this game. THIS IS OUR YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I miss that defense... Held Peyton Manning, Edgerrine James, and Marvin Harrison to 17 points. Hell, Fiedler and Manning were almost identical in passing yards completions and attempts. That's how ****ing good Zach, JT, Madison, Surtain, and Marion were. Awesome.

You know what's really sad? And I hate to bring it up, but Jay Fiedler passed for 361 yards, 1 TD, 6 INT, 52% completion in the 2000 playoffs and we still ****ing passed on Drew Brees. Wannstedt is such a ****ing douchebag.

I do miss Mike Patrick calling the games for ESPN though. He was my favorite play-by-play guy.

To be fair Brees was drafted that season, not after the Fiedler's playoff performance. But I get your point

I was in 5th grade watching this game, in Indiana where all my friends were Colts fans. It was a sweet victory after they talk nonstop sh!t the whole week beforehand.

LOL! I was 22, and had only just recently done so :wink2:

    1989-2003. Zero losing seasons.
2001-2014. Zero playoff wins. Just two games.

Quite the parallel in roughly two halves of my time as a hardcore fan.

How did Ricky Williams approve a trade to Miami after seeing this game? 40 carries. Feidlers garbage. We were on a effin high winning that game then got shut out in Oakland the next game fml

Mike Patrick was great. I miss him too.

I remember we had a snow storm in Jersey the day of this game. After we won I ran outside and jumped in the snow.

I can't believe we haven't won a playoff game since then. Please let us do it this year. I need it!

I'll never forget the jumping around the house I did when Lamar scored. Can't believe it's been that long.

If they had just found someone better as a color-commentator than Joe Theisman, it would've been great. Could you imagine Gruden with Patrick and McGuire?

    I was there.
Awesome game. That was the loudest game I can recall at JRS.
Had no idea that was going to be our last playoff victory for this long.
We also brought in some Jamaican patties from Nice Mon so that was good too.

Ricky didn't have any say in getting traded. And wanny certainly saw him as the ideal player for what he wanted to accomplish.

It goes to show from Shula's year's as GM all the way through Ireland, except for a few years with Jimmy Johnson we were lousy with the draft and brought in way too many FA's. With Hickey, we finally have someone very good at evaluating players for the last 2 years and we are finally building through the draft and only going after choice FA's.

I was there too. Can't believe it's been 15 years since we last won a playoff game. Lamar Smith looked so gassed by the end. I knew that he wasn't going to have anything left the next week. In fact, the whole team just looked overwhelmed playing Oakland. That's Wannestedt for ya.

I think it did sell out by game time, but not in time to lift the blackout.
As I recall, there were several games that weekend that were in danger of being blacked out - i think it was Philly and New Orleans.

Tough to sell out a Saturday game, the day before New Years, by Thursday after just qualifying for the game on Sunday.

As a result of this, the next year the league moved back the wildcard games one week to the first week of January.
They also moved the games to primetime.

I still remember getting really excited when I saw that Miller switched to #26 before the 2012 season started (he was #44 in the preseason), just because I still had such fond memories of this game it just feels right to have a starting running back named Lamar wear 26.

Except it doesn't... As mentioned earlier, a number of teams had trouble selling out that weekend given the timing. We had a full house in 2008, right?

Back then no one thought Wanny would get us far with Fiedler at QB, and Indy was just starting to become a force in the AFC. Anyone who was around back then and followed the team could see why we didn't sell out that game. But I was there and it was still pretty pretty packed, and loud, especially in the 4th Q.

We're talking about the playoffs. We've had very few since Dan retired. Alex is suggesting that Miami going 11-5, winning the division, wasn't enough to sell out. I pointed out the extenuating circumstances of that specific game.

If Miami builds a winner, fans will invest. There's too many competing attractions for your dollar in SF for a losing football team to reap support.

As soon as Smith crossed the goal line I was jumping up & down(at home) and then immediately went outside to shovel nearly 3 feet of snow off my front steps. Grinning ear to ear, yelling "F yeah" - neighbors looking at me like I was crazy.

    Thanks A13!
