why you gotta go and say something like matt ryan over Ben Berger..Hes better than Manning right now as well..

Rothlesberger is soo good man..Better than Romo Too..

My top 10 if I had to choose for one season next year with all Qbs having the same talent to work with.

    Rogers..Brady..Berger..Brees..Manning..Flacco...Luck..Wilson..Romo..whoever..

and I'm all for betting crow with all the kaepernik bashers that he will ascend this year despite being saddled with a completely dysfunctional franchise and a team stripped of high end talent.

FWIW, turning Brian Hartline into a 1000 yrd receiver is more impressive than turning Harry Douglas into one. Also, what would RT's stats look like if he had WRs of the Jones & White caliber or a TE of Gonzalez's caliber for much of his career?

I'm not sure turning Harry Douglas into a 1,000 yard much different. Then again, Tannehill did turn Hartline into a 1,000 yard receiver... TWICE. So that's probably more impressive. If Tannehill had a receiving corps of Jones, White, and Gonzo... his stats would be more impressive. Absolutely. Although, given the offensive line problems, I still think Tanny would have his struggles. These last two years with a lack of talent, injuries, suspensions, quitters, lineman playing out of position... Yikes, it's been ugly. Thankfully, Tanny is built tough.

Big Ben is not better than Romo. Until Wilson hits 1,500 attempts, he's the second highest rated passer in NFL history. He's historically good and criminally underrated.

tough to debate against romo statistically..matter of opinion....I will say however Ben plays a ton of games in much tougher conditions.

Not sure how to interpret that. It's either a horribly incorrect idea or you just chose the wrong words to express the thought.

Good analysis, modeling, science, etc. isn't respectable because of who's doing it. It's respectable on the basis that it's correct, reliable, accurate, etc.

we were discussing Ryan tannehill being ahead of Joe flacco...so what science, modeling and analysis proves that to be correct?

He did throw more INT's than TD's in 2013 (19/22). That's an argument that could be used against him. He didn't hit 60% completion in the last 3/4 years. Has a history of up and down QB play year to year too. So consistency is questionable.

Looking at the past two seasons of work (I'm excluding Tannehill's rookie year), Tannehill v. Flacco looks like...

    Tannehill: 26 TD//14 INT//63.4%//3979//6.8YPA
    Flacco: 23 TD//17 INT// 60.4//3949//6.8YPA

Personally, I'd give the edge to Flacco. He's statistically a better QB in the playoffs than he is in the regular season. And considering Flacco has been in the league longer, the sample size of two season's isn't as fair to him. Especially since 2013 was a really bad year for him, statistically an anomaly compared to the rest of his career... But I don't think for a second that Tannehill can't surpass him. In fact, I expect Tannehill to surpass him this season. If someone wants to make the argument that Tanny > Flacco at this point, I think it can be justified.

Caps at me? Really? LOL...I know what Flacco & the Baltimore defense has done..I sure do..Flacco is pretty decent but he is up & down like a yo-yo...besides, I only care how 1QB does....and that is Tannehill....there is really no telling how high his ceiling goes...I am looking for him to have 500-600 yards rushing,4200-4500 yards passing, 42 TD's & 12 Int's. If he can do this and add on what our RB's can do, we will be looking at playoffs and if the Defense ends up as good as I am hoping for then we have a real good chance to go deep in the post season..the sky is the limit.

you deserved them with this beauty..
I dont wanna know where you pulled that one out.

I expect Ryan to improve his qbr, his ypa, and his 3rd down conversion rate..If he gets 600 yards rushing I'm right there with you, he would be the most dangerous dual threat in the league if you truly believe that number, for which I would be incredibly excited about.

4500 yards Passing..600 rushing yards..42/12....ike I said before if you believe the numbers are attainable then he wlll be top 3 in mvp voting.

If lazor and ryan embrace the dual threat mindset..I could see 4,100 passing...450 running...37/11, and if he does that, you won't here me complain.

Its an interesting discussion. With regard to Foles success I think people give kelly's system way too much credit and Foles way too little credit. Consider this: Kelly with Foles at QB is 14-4 and without Foles he's 6-8. Foles broke some pretty significant passing records, while Sanchez didn't come close to duplicating any of that. Sanchez' stats improved to a degree last season, but so did a lot of QBs, including Tannehill. Statistically, Fitzpatrick had a great season, where's the praise for that offensive system?

I predict the Rams will do quite well if Foles stays healthy and the Eagles will be around 0.500 if Bradford stays healthy, I'm not going to get into a huge debate over that prediction, but I will put money on it.

Totally agree with this premise. Problem is Chip acquired a QB who if healthy can be better than alot if the guys we are discussing in this thread. Sam Bradford has more natural ability than any Joe Flacco, Eli Manning or Ryan Tannehill. Sam stays healthy that team is a SB contender.

It is very true...you are way over rating QB's with a Super Bowl Victory....especially when if the two I mentioned did not have top defenses they would never have won the Super Bowl in the First Place...so I don't wanna know where you are pulling out some of your statements...Lol...one of these days, as the diehard fan you are, these numbers comparing Tannehill's numbers to guys like Luck, Flacco and others for the last two years, with the worst OL in football (31st in 13 and 32nd last year) you will see that Tannehill is on a major rise rather he runs or not, and his numbers are right there with the guys mentioned...he is becoming a very good pocket passer and after having a little over 300 yards out of the RO, I can see him doubling that output this year with Lazor's blessing..when he sees a certain defense...change the play...I, for one, as a HUGE Dolfan, cannot wait to see how Ryan does this year...you see, I do not care about any of the others because they do not help my team win football games.

I agree with you on this. IMHO, I think that Chip Kelly is way over rated as an coach and I would have hated to be an Eagles fan the last two seasons and the dumping of a lot of major talent but Keeping Sanchez...tells me all I need to know..the only good thing from Kelly to me is Bill Lazor.lol

this is a thread discussing all qbs, you seem to have a habit of making threads like this into a singular personal premise.

I was discussing where flacco was ranked in the OP, because I have Flacco above Ryan at this point doesn't mean you have to take it personal, just tell me why you wouldn't without acting like this..

DJ, I am not taking any of this personal...you are misunderstanding me again...the other half of your post regarding Ryan was a very acceptable projection, although I hope he hits higher. To me Flacco is a decent QB, his numbers are not consistent though is why maybe I would not rate him as high as you do..nothing personal at all in the thread...their are some pretty solid QB's playing the game at this time...All I know right now is that Aaron Rodgers is the best and all others are chasing him imho...personally, for me and for our team, I would Love to see Ryan make it into the top 10 this year and I will be happy.

Flacco gets overrated, IMO, due to his one amazing postseason run. Yes, he's been to the postseason several times, but that ONE RUN he had was amazing. His career numbers aren't really spectacular. He has a good TD/Int ratio, but his average rating is 84.8, and he's never topped 4k yards, which is supposedly so easy to do these days.

P.S. - when I say overrated, I mean it specifically by those who underrate Tannehill. I'm not sure how you can put Flacco on some sort of pedestal, while blasting Tannehill, unless your view of Flacco is colored by that one year in the postseason where Flacco went cray cray.

First off, Flacco did not have a top defense that year. 17th in overall defense, 12th in scoring defense. That is not a top defense.

Second of all, a certain QB named Peyton Manning's only super bowl is during the year he choked for the first two games in the playoffs but his defense played out of their minds led by Bob Sanders. Field Goal contest against Baltimore? See that stinker in KC? Peyton won his Super Bowl with a better defense than Flacco won his.

Dilfer played like crap during the regular season and played "Meh" in the playoffs throwing only 15 times a game. Flacco played out of his mind during their Super Bowl run. Compare Flacco's only ring vs Peyton's only, looking at their post season. Not saying Flacco is better than Manning, but just deconstructing your argument here. Manning had a 70.5 rating, 3 TDs, 7 INTs during his super bowl run, vs. 11-0 and a 117 rating. Flacco has a 25/10 TD/INT ratio, and 88.6 rating in the playoffs, but has been spectacular his last 3 playoff runs, which is usually against better defenses (usually). This guy is not a one hit wonder. Sure he's no Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs but he's not that far off. 23/7, 101 rating. Rodgers kills him in the completion numbers which is Flacco's biggest flaw.

You have a guy who is good enough to get you in the playoffs and then, for some reason, goes hog wild once they get there. He has shown 10x more than Tannehill has. You can't argue that.

You didn't deconstruct his argument, you reinforced it.

Once again, logic is not pliable, no matter how much you spin it. For example, if Peyton is a better QB than Flacco, based on his regular season achievements, then Flacco can't be 10 times better then Tannehill based on Flacco's post season achievements. Logic dictates they would have to be similar based on their regular achievements. Either post season matters or it doesn't, it cannot have one weight when comparing Player X to Player Y and then a completely different weight when comparing Player Y to Player Z.

What you're doing is what you always do, which is create the physics for an argument then abruptly change them to suit whatever point you're making at the time.

We can't have a debate if you keep misreading my posts, and then arguing a point I didn't make. I never said Flacco is 10x better than Tannehill. I said he's shown 10x more. The reason we can't debate is now I have to explain why I didn't say, what you think I said. It's a huge waste of time.

oh wait, Joe Flacco has led his team to 3 playoff runs, that means multiple wins..I.E..''RUNS''......Thats 3 AFC championship games..yeah I'm pretty sure thats three.

i feel like I'm in the freakin twilight zone...

Do you guys spend a lot of time breaking down their games in isolation or are you just going on the times you watched him play, did any of you study him coming out of delaware and have him as a top 15 pick?

Personally, my impression was that much of the success in those Flacco runs was the result of him throwing it up and having his receivers make plays for him. Flacco did a nice job of moving around in the pocket to buy time and just trusting his receivers is to his credit, but otherwise I don't see him as better than Tannehill in any other regard. I thought his receivers made him look better than he was. I see the opposite in Tannehill where his receivers over the first three seasons rarely made Tannehill look good.

Torrey Smith was masterful at drawing PI by beating his man, then slowing down so the corner would bump into him. Flacco is gonna miss him a bunch.

In particular their game against Denver that year. Lob it up and hope that the WR makes the catch downfield. I'd rather see the Fins never even try that personally. Drove me crazy with Matt Moore and Marshall in 2011.

on occasion when he threw the ball up the throw still has to have talent behind it, this is not a school yards, they were measured passes that took touch.

There really is no merit to saying Tannehill is a better QB than Flacco at this point. A Joe Flacco goes into foxboro during the playoffs and lights it up, he also makes all the throws. You won't see him hitting slants and quick hitches all the way down the field. He is far from perfect but he is a pretty complete QB.

Kind of makes me wonder what you were watching, in 6 years of playoff games he is 10-5 a 90 rating and 25-10 TD/INt....in that time the Ravens have a lot of different Wrs those seasons. Hard to believe he was just benefiting from several different Wrs abilities.

Let's not forget about 11 of these games were played in very non QB friendly settings, crappy weather and on the road.

That's a QB I would be very confident to have on my team.

you don't make the playoffs 6 seasons out of your first 7 seasons, win a Super Bowl, go to three conference champs, win 10 games in the playoffs, and be the mvp in the biggest game, just because you have a good defense..

without hi level Qb'ing you don't do sh&6 in this league, especially all that..
