Oh wow I didn't realize Tyler Johnson broke his jaw during the game a few days back. Eesh. Out 12 weeks.
I only say that because we keep his rights without taking a roster spot, on a season and veteran team like the Heat he will likely see very limited minutes to almost not even playing at all.. Especially if Thornton signs and Green already on board.. Next year if Thornton and Green decide to leave there will be plenty of playing time opportunity for him to slide in. Napier will likely be the primary backup for Goran if/after Mario is traded. Zoran we cant designate him overseas but he will be in and out of d league all season.
Ya he did and thats why i havent even mentioned him because that is a setback on his development and means he will be looking for work elsewhere.
I actually only knew about Tylers injury because Udonis posted a get well message to Tyler on instagram two days ago. No one talked/posted about it.
I think it's all about whether you think he can/want him to play in the NBA at all this season. If you think he can help you later on, want to at least have that option, or want to get him time in mop up minutes, you keep him in the D League. If you don't think he'll play at all this year in the NBA and/or don't care about getting him spot minutes, then the competition is probably better, or at least similar overseas depending on the league.
Well hopefully Richardson ends up in a good league and not the NBL like Ennis. Ennis looked like Jordan over there and it sure fooled a lot of us.. That poster he threw down on his first nba minutes also got us excited over nothing lol
The other thing driving the Richardson question is his body: is he definitely going to need a year anyway to get physically ready for the NBA? That was one of the issues with Ennis (general upper body size/strength, iirc), and it's a common thing. If it were me, I'd sign him. There are some obvious advantages to the DLeague as opposed to overseas. And I think Spo will get creative with this wing depth, and eventually Richardson might be able to stay with the Heat abd find the floor. His speed and experience at the point (floor feel, passing) gives me a little more hope regarding his short-term potential than say a project like Ennis. Richardson's game is more well-rounded, and one of the most appealing things about him was how he steadily improved every year in college. I really like what I've seen from him so far.
I think Richardson makes the roster and and goes back and forth from the Skyforce. I'd rather he be getting playing time and coaching in our system at Sioux Falls
If it weren't for Richardson I wouldn't be so ready to give up on Ennis yet. You can tell he has a lot of incredible tools, but just quite isn't the complete package. Regardless, I hope he finds a spot in this league. He is exciting when he isn't handling the ball, haha.
The thinking behind sending a player overseas is if a player lacks maturity (in his game, or personally), you are sending him to a place that will hold him accountable and begin to play as a professional and live on his own starting his pro athlete life. In the D-League, there is a watchful eye from the organization (the DL affiliates usually even run the same system as the big club to acclimate their players) and the players are handled more closely and the fear is that it might stifle the maturing process.
Nets and D-Will have reached a buyout agreement. Per David Aldridge What a fall from grace. It wasn't that long ago people thought he was better than Chris Paul and we were crapping our pants over a potential D-Will/Dwight Howard combo in Brooklyn.
I think Richardson is a real possibility (which is rare) of a D-League exclusive contract. Now, remember..training camp/preseason is usually when guys make the team. Summer League is really about evaluating guys' development through a summer, and getting to know the rookie and young player pool better.
Im shocked that Deron is leaving millions on the table. He had two years left about 47 million. The buyout probably means he leaves about 30 million. Thats a lot of money. Ainge is suddenly celebrating, Jordan didnt accept the Brooklyn first round unprotected pick for Winslow. Brooklyn might be the league's worst team for sure now, all they have is Lopez.
Are we still allowed to call Amare "Fake Hustle" when he plays bad now that he is a Heatle? Excited to have Stat on board.
Excellent. Won't even need many minutes from him. Just some nice efficient PnR offense. Frontline looks good.
I'd rather move Birdman than Chalmers. Rio offers some punch when he gets a chance to be the man. Birdman's about ready to hang up his wings. In fact, let's just encourage Birdman to retire and then put him on the SUN Sports postgame with Jason Jackson.
I'm tipsy, it's independence day Stoudemire is a Heat. All I need is some pizza and a bj and its all of a sudden the best day ever. Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk
It's my understanding James Ennis went overseas, right? He played in Australia and got the MVP there, etc. If I were to forego the D-League it would be so that I could send him somewhere overseas where Richardson could particularly work on his offensive game like Ennis did. Australia is where Ennis picked up a better three point shot and started looking like an offensive juggernaut (with a bad handle). Josh Richardson has a lot of offensive potential because of his length, ball handling, natural shooting skills and pure speed. Send him somewhere he can be "the man" offensively, working on things like finishing at the rim and being quicker on the attack, more decisive in getting to his spots and pulling the trigger. He could get that in the D-League but I don't know, because I don't know much about the D-League.
Hassan Whiteside posted this on instagram a few days ago: https://instagram.com/p/42i6Q8F0JA/?taken-by=hassanwhiteside It's a stat ESPN put up that says the Heat are the only team in the NBA with 5 players in the top 90 in PER from last year. Well, now they're the only team with 6 as Amare was 35th in PER last year.
You all missed it, Section invited his close friends. I would know because I was looking from the window inside my room, some bus was parked in front of my girlfriend's house.
A bit weird to have Breen on a summer league broadcast. I would have thought they'd have some young guys trying to break into the rotation out there. A summer league for broadcasters if you will. I'm not expecting to hear "Bang!" anytime soon.
