Parcells hates pity, and I love him for that. That said, that line he fed Tannenballs is straight out of Michael Douglas' advice to Val Kilmer in "The Ghost and the Darkness."
I think a person who feels on top can sometimes be stubborn, hard to approach... well narcissistic... Sometimes after getting the crap knocked out of you, you look in the mirror and change things. It sounds cliche but it is true. It's not just about getting up and going at it again, anyone can do that. Its about how you conduct yourself and conduct business afterward. The changes you make and how you view yourself and the world around you. Just going at it with more piss and vinegar is great but without the change the result is likely to be the same. Hopefully the experience did nothing but help him. So far I think we are all pretty happy with how things are running. Good for hiim.
I wonder if the gas pedal was sent from Rex Ryan. Sounds like a Rex Ryan gift and given how personable Rex is, it would make sense. I like Tannenbaum. He's a smart, savvy, forward thinking football mind from all accounts. I think his time with the Jets proved more positive than negative, IMO. And if the rumors are true, and Hickey was overruled from drafting a RB in round 2, I'd say it's a good thing we have him. From where we picked, the only RB's available for us to draft were Coleman, Duke Johnson, and Ameer Abdullah. Not only did we get better talent value in Phillips, but positional value too. And still came away with Ajayi in the 5th round. So far, I like Hickey based on his year 1 in Miami. Year 2 is a bit muddy because of the convoluted power structure. But if these two can work well together, I think we've got a good personnel department going forward.
What does Parcells do when he gets knocked down as GM? Take the money, run, and leave the puppet regime you installed to die a slow and painful death.
What I am glad to see is that T-Bomb isnt afraid to go big. Sometimes after you get a taste of being on the down side, you are tentative. He hasnt been. There will be mistakes, there always is. So far, I feel damn good about the chances of our team with him in control.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ke-tannenbaum-sanchez-contract-didnt-deter-me He's going to do his best and make a big splash.
he needed a wing man, a talented evaluator to form a team that brings out the best in him...i'm good with the combo..havent said that in a long time, well since I got fooled by Toro.
Buford told the Dolphins front office about his team having to institute a “Tim Duncan Rule”—closing the facility during some days in August, because otherwise Duncan would be in there working out every day of the offseason. “I’m not comparing Ryan to Duncan in terms of what they’ve accomplished so far, but it’s that sort of mindset and approach,” Tannenbaum says. “That organization is filled with selfless, competitive people who have incredible work ethics. Ryan has those intangibles. That competitiveness, that incredible work ethic.” Tannenbaum felt his decision reaffirmed when he saw Tannehill first to arrive in the weight room the morning after signing his contract, a players’ day off. I liked reading this quote. I wouldn't mind having a Spurs with Duncan type run here in Miami with the Dolphins and Tannehill.
Didn't hurt my feelings one bit when the Sperm Whale left the building...even if the imposing pain was evident...can't stand Parcells.
