According to Armando the Bovada odds for the AFCE are as follows:

    "Bovada's over/under win totals for AFC East: Bills 8 1/2, Dolphins 8 1/2, NYJ 7 1/2, Pats 10 1/2."

It got me thinking. First, the divisional opponents have also improved. Second I'm not sure there's any guarantee that the Dolphins have improved in any massive way.

It's early days and there's still a lot of evaluation done but while there's been a lot of change, can we really sure it's been improvement?

Parker and Suh are the certain improvements in talent, but the rest?
LB, CB, Special Teams, don't scream improvement (we've even lost our starting kicker) and the additions in other areas came after subtractions. Hopefully it's improvement but can we really say so yet?

As for the OL, I'm not convinced it isn't going to collapse again. Nor that the coaching might not get in the way.

All in all, the WRs stand the best chance of being improved, then the DL. I think, though, it's Tannehill's growth that might be the biggest factor, individually and tactically.

All said, I'm thinking 8 games again when you factor in the other divisional improvements, lack of OL improvement,* and the fact that newness is newness and will lead to mistakes, especially if the coaches fail to be aggressive and/or inspirational enough when it counts and as the season progresses. If they get better than 8 it'll only be 9 games.

So against Bovada I'll go with an optimistic over at 9 because it's early and exciting; but nothing is guaranteed.

We'll finish 3rd in the division behind NE and the Bills.

    Thoughts?

Even as one of the few people that isn't ready to dub Jarvis Landry the next big thing, I have to say the wide receiver unit looks more intriguing than a year ago by a good distance. Mike Wallace to Kenny Stills is to me about an even trade. Maybe better. Even if I wasn't gaga over DeVante Parker, I believe he's more intriguing in this offense than Brian Hartline. Hell I believe Greg Jennings is more intriguing than Brian Hartline. That's a pretty good top four there.

Jordan Cameron is (was?) a really good tight end with genuinely intriguing physical qualities. There may end up system translation issues. You'd be foolish not to build in that possibility with a guy that succeeded in one team with one system but then couldn't even sustain when that same team went to another system. You'd also be foolish not to build in the concussion risk. But something that makes me feel better about the former is his pure physical tangibles which are relatively off the charts, and something that makes me feel better about the latter is the new helmet designs which may have prevented him from getting two of the three concussions he got.

Like you, I believe the OL is not at all immune from the potential for this coaching staff to screw it up. The guard situation scares me. Branden Albert's overall effectiveness and health scares me. The possibility the staff may move Ja'Wuan James back to LT again if something happens scares me. The possibility they could up and decide to put J.D. Walton at center and move Pouncey back out to guard again scares me. Dallas Thomas scares me. But it's not going to be worse than 2014. It would be difficult to achieve that. So that's refreshing, I guess?

The running back situation actually kind of has me excited. I like Jay Ajayi and Lamar Miller.

You lose Jared Odrick and go with Ndamukong Suh, I think that's an upgrade obviously. But then you go from Randy Starks to a rookie Jordan Phillips. We'll see on that. Earl Mitchell could step up, as would be typical of outside free agent acquisitions in their second year. I do worry about Cam Wake and the possibility of injuries. If he gets hurt that would suck because I don't like our outside pass rush presence outside of him, unless Fede steps up.

Linebacker is worrisome. Chris McCain playing a new position, played few snaps in 2014 and all of them as pass rushing end, Koa Misi on nickel downs, Jelani Jenkins didn't look in the second half of 2014 the way he did in the first half.

Safety also worrisome. Delmas had medical questions even before he tore his ACL. Now? Pray. Something Reshad Jones I feel like he only turns in a great performance every other year. But I know some onlookers at OTAs are saying he looks fantastic so maybe we shouldn't worry.

Corner very troubling because that's the way you could make Ndamukong Suh irrelevant. Brent Grimes is the oldest corner in football literally, and he had a bad second half of 2014. If he gets hurt then that position goes to hell in a hand basket.

CK - what would your number be, at this point, for games won?

Same HC and QB who have never been over .500...and the line sits at that very question of whether they can lead this team to 9 wins for the first time. Makes sense. Personally, I think adding an elite talent in Suh is enough by itself to give us that boost in the W column. Other units will over- and under-perform as usual, random injuries will happen as usual, but adding a stud in the middle should get us above 8 wins, imo.

I'm seeing no worse than 6-4 outside the division but the AFCE is loaded for 2015. 9-7 sounds about right to me.

That's what I'm waiting for also...he's usually within a game, or dead on. Not saying others aren't, I've just noticed CK's mainly.
