Either the Pats lose, or the Bills get beat by them without Brady and look awful. Either way, we win. If the Pats are 1-3 and beat Buffalo, I'm happy as Hell.

lol God the nfl is such a mess.

Nobody was checking for **** like this? So you suspend Brady after they win the SB and it's now longer than what Rice got for knocking out his fiancée on camera. Lose/lose all around from Goodell as usual.

Come on now...it's just a few PSI...can't make a REAL difference, right?

Some people can't see past the 4 shiney rings (even though they can be directly attributed to cheating). I'm glad they at least got SOME punishment out of it, but it's FAR short of what they should've gotten...past 10 years considering.

Apples and oranges. Rice's situation was a criminal case being handled by the authorities...totally different monster.

What SHOULD be discussed is Payton getting a 1 year ban, but BB being unscathed and smelling like roses, for the SAME THING.

Here is my honest opinions on the whole thing, Tom Brady got the correct punishment. His cheating can be compared to taking banned substance to get a competitive advantage. Its his first time cheating, so 4 games is fair. Now where I dont agree with the punishment is the Punishment. Patriots should have gotten hit harder. Its not their first time being caught cheating. They obviously did not learn from the first time, they should have lost imo, two number 1s. and maybe a 4th next year. Belichick should be suspended for the year. If Sean Payton got suspended for negligence, then so should Belichick. Brady should not get his suspension reduce, which it probably will. People who say "Well Ray Rice, and AP got their suspension lifted", yeah well, after they missed the rest of the season. No one gets reduced sentencing for using PEDs, except last season which had to do with a agreement change.

I'm sure this guy is going to take all the money he earns right to the Patriots... lol

Yes but Rice's situation is obviously something the league would still discipline as well.

Payton had the prior w stealing painkillers though, no?

Should've been 8 game suspension so every divsional opponent gets a shot at em without Brady. They lucked out by only playing one divisional adversary through his suspension. And the $1 mil fine should factor in their salary cap so it hurts them. $1 mil to Kraft is like taking a shart and wiping his wind hole. Not a second thought to him.

Meh... the suspension to me, isn't long enough. You know he's going to appeal. His agent has been beating the drum and building a case through the media non stop already. Which means it's likely going to get knocked down to two games. So big deal, the Pat's loose some cash. BB gets nothing, Brady misses two games, they loose a 1st and 4th. The 4th... who cares.

This is the ultimate slap on the wrist. Tom Brady has never known what it's like to play in the NFL without cheating. That's because Bellichick started the cheating culture in NE from day one. A year before Brady entered the league.

    Spygate
The second com device in Brady's helmet
Repeated reprimands over final injury reports
    and now, Deflategate

Bellichick, skating off scott-free after all this is the biggest scandal yet. Especially when Goodell is on record on why Sean Peyton still got a one year suspension.

    That's what I don't get.
No way Sean Peyton should get a one year suspension and Brady 4 games and Belichick zero.
There were at least three employees colluding here, followed by a cover up. That is lack of institutional control.

I'd likely be fired from my job, if three employees that reported to me were covering up information from the SEC.

The tuck rule( just happeded to favor them )
Repeated reprimands over final injury reports

yes, thanks Holmes. obviously the other part of the equation that I've mentioned before is that with the improvement of the other teams in the division it helps level the playing field when you factor in the suspension.

I am not a Patriots fan. In fact I thought Brady should have been suspended for a longer period of time and that Belichick should have received at least an 8 game suspension.

That still doesn't take away from the fact they won the SB last year and were clearly the best team in the league by the time the season ended.

Instead of sitting around complaining about the cheating Patriots, the Dolphins just need to go out and finish with a better record than the Patriots. The fact is if the Patriots were the same pathetic team they were before Belichick and Brady arrived in New England, this entire deflatedgate controversy would not even be an issue.

I admire the Patriots for the fact they have been a winning organization for such an extended period of time. I wish it had been the Dolphins doing all that winning instead, but it is what it is.

These two fall guys lost it all but Brady's part in the texting only makes him miss four games and Kraft says it's not fair. Who's it not fair to?

Could you imagine these two saying no I'm not letting air out it's my job Brady? No win situation they where put in.

I'm really hoping these two equipment guys get pissed off and sing like canaries. It won't change the punishment, but can certainly reinforce the tarnish on the legacy.

I was thinking the same thing. And if their singing implicates Belichick had intricate knowledge, it could change something. But my guess is Goodell is going to leave the door shut on this one, even if these 2 do want to spill their guts. And if they have anything more damaging, it will meet the same fate as the spygate tapes.

There's a lot of people saying that any fan base would take a 4 game suspension for the starting QB in return for a Super Bowl victory.

I mean, yeah I would, but certainly not in the name of cheating and lying. Then your title just becomes tainted.

Unless there's officially an asterisk next to the title that says the title is not "official" or that it was won despite a serious controversy, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I mean, how many will remember any of this 20 years from now? Those 4 SB's will be as official as any others.

I do think one thing has changed in some people's minds: some/many that would place Brady as the best or one of the very best QB's will I think put an asterisk next to that claim. I've already heard people publicly say that, and I've done the same, so I think there's at least some lasting damage done here.

If they remember it, even better (I mean I do hope I'm wrong about people likely forgetting this with time), but usually it's the case that what might have seemed like an important controversy at the time is just forgotten or never learned of in the first place by fans in subsequent generations. Usually, the only way you have something like that in the minds of current fans is to have an asterisk next to the team in the record books.

For those acting like the deflated ball is no big deal, please ask yourselves, why did the Pats do it then? I mean we heard the same crap about Spygate, and how it doesn't really help the team any. Yet, here they are suffering punishment for cheating again and we're told the EXACT same crap.....that X cheating action taken by the Pats doesn't really affect their game. So fine, then why do it? Why risk all this again, after being busted before for something that doesn't matter?

I firmly believe the people here claiming its no big deal are so bitter about the state of our franchise that they just cannot except that what they viewed as a beacon of excellence in our division is built on bull-****.

Those lack of fumbling stats are the real killer against those who say it didn't matter. Pats just became such an outlier right after the rule change that it's hard to say it didn't matter.

I've heard more than one ex-NFL QB on NFL radio make the point that it didn't make a difference in the Colts game, but very well could have made a difference in the Baltimore game. 30 degrees colder and bitter weather might certainly accentuate the suttle difference a underinflated ball might give Brady.

I don't understand the people who are saying what the Pats did is no big deal at all.

    They cheated!

No matter how small of a benefit it may have given them, they knowingly cheated, and have almost certainly been doing so for Hoodie's whole time there as HC.

Maybe that doesn't mean all that much to other people. It does to me. I do not cheat. It sickens me, and has since I was a little kid. I once passed up on the chance to cheat in order to pass a college class which I later failed. I would have gotten away with it. It was a stupid class that had nothing to do with my major. Over half the class did, but it was wrong. It would have eaten away at me for years. I don't cheat, and I don't want my teams cheating. **** cheating, and **** those who condone it.

If the Fins were guilty of the same, I'd want the hammer taken to them the same way I want it taken to New England. It would be the only way that I wouldn't feel guilty for rooting for them.
