I can't see Sick's picture, so maybe he beat me to it, but we're screwed if he loves chicken wings and beef on weck. Hopefully he's more of a Cuban Sandwich / Stone Crabs kinda guy.

Guess you've never eaten Caribbean jerk chicken wings or Peruvian / Jamaican food? Because all that ****'s in Miami, and all that **** is amazing!

I'm not saying Miami doesn't have amazing food because it definitely does and I've definitely sampled most of it. But they've got nothing on Buffalo / Western New York in terms of chicken wings. It's not even close.

I'm joking around BTW. I don't honestly believe a player would choose Buffalo over chicken wings. At least I hope not...

If you ever go thru Gainesville, stop at Reggae Shack. Order anything. Particularly anything with their "Tropi-Q" sauce and "dutty" fries. Thank me.

I wonder what the position proposal would be? You can start at left guard and then move over when Albert's contract runs out or (heaven forbid) he gets hurt again? It seemed like he wanted to start at LT.

Ok so if he signs with Miami he can help protect Tannehill who might be a very good QB, or start with Buffalo to protect who? A good defense?

I couldn't have said any of this any better. I believe only Texas and Tennessee have no state taxes. I don't see him going to Nashville considering he is from Louisiana. I think Dallas is pretty set on the offensive line so I would be shocked if he chose there. Could the Texans beat us yet again?

After researching I see that a lot of mock drafts had the Texans selecting Collins before the possible murder problem became of. They obviously need him to start at tackle. No state tax. And still pretty close to home. I would put them up there as very serious contenders along with us.

Tannenbaum will probably say something along the lines of:

"Hey La'El, you're gonna be our future left tackle. We will pay you left tackle money when the time is due... but right now I want you to sit down and think about something: we are on the cusp of having an elite offense and you know what's the one position we're missing? Left guard. We know you'll be a great starting left guard here in Miami and can take us to the next step... you're the missing ingredient!

You'll be down here in sunny Miami, which is state tax-free, by the way, playing between Pro Bowlers Branden Albert and Mike Pouncey, they will mentor you and prepare you to take the next step towards being a real pro. In the meantime you'll get reps at left tackle and will be the immediate backup in case something happens to Branden. You won't have to feel the nerve-wrecking pressure of starting immediately at LT, and can ease into that position by first playing guard.

We have a great facility and state-of-the-art sports science department which will prepare the players unlike anything you've ever seen in the league. You can just see all the confidence and optimism on everyone's face from Steve Ross to the coaches to the front office to the players, and we all want you to be a part of this great team we're building... take some time to think about it, we know you'll eventually make the right decision."

I hope he signs with the Dolphins, but if he is concerned about losing a little bit of money because he would have to pay state taxes in most NFL cities, he would be better off signing with a team which has a good chance of winning the SB over the next few years.

A player can earn an additional $180,000 if he is on the winning SB team. So by deciding to sign with a SB caliber team, he could make far more than he would save by playing for a team in a tax free state.

If it is all about money, I don't see him coming to Miami. He will more likely sign with the Colts, Seahawks, Patriots, Packers, or any other team he and his agent feel are capable of winning the SB in the next couple of years.

If on the other hand he wants to play on a team where he would be a starter from day one and the projected LT within a couple of year, along with being on a young and improving team. The Dolphins could offer these things, along with the opportunity to live in South Florida year round if he wants to.

....but don't take my word for it, listen to Jarvis & Kelvin good friends of yours from school. Also, on the left is a picture of Miami strippers. On the right, the picture with the barf bag taped to it is a picture of Buffalo strippers, even though these are still photos you'll notice the Buffalo strippers have a distinct limp.

I do think it's odd that he hasn't made a public statement, at least through his lawyer, to say that of course he's innocent, it's really terrible what happened, etc. The fact that he hasn't really done that makes me a little... queasy.

But when you are being questioned by police, guilty or innocent, you should always retain a lawyer. When the police question you, their job is pretty much to try to get you mixed up or to admit to some wrongdoing. That's how they get suspects when they don't otherwise have any.

Just don't let him leave Miami without an agreement. Problem is I don't know if Miami or anyone is in the clear to sign him to a contract, even so it looks like he's completely innocent of his ex's murder.

He actually has lost millions already because of all of this I am sure money is very important to stop the bleeding. Yes going to one of those teams COULD bank more but that is a gamble. sure south Florida is wonderful but let's stop that. Alot of top notch talent that GREW UP In Miami even choose other teams over the Dolphins in free agency. This is a business.

That is true, but times are a changin'. That was when we had a previous regime that had a perception of being hostile to players (see Ireland/Drz Bryant). I think with Tannebaum and having a guy like Suh in place changes the perception of this team. Not to mention many have praised our team for our offseason makeover and there is a feeling of excitement in the air with this team. I would have agreed with you before this offseason, but things change.

I have NO idea why anyone would choose to go to Buffalo over Miami. The only way Buffalo ever gets any free agent is either vastly overpaying, or being about the only team interested in the player.

DJ, reason he hasn't stated his innocence is because he isn't a suspect. They wanted to ask him questions but authorities have been adamant he is no being viewed as a suspect. No need to state innocence if you aren't a suspect right?

In other good news, I am reading that the Bills aren't supposed to sign him and it was just a meeting with Rex Ryan because he was in the area.

Going back to why come to Miami?
    1. 3 former teammates on the team (2 of which were in his recruiting class Landry & Johnson) ---- That matters guys, look at how close LSU players are in the pros
    2. No State Tax - as he is offered standard UDFA contract the no state tax will help him pocket more.
    3. We have a need for him today and in future - LG is still wide open and he'd come in and compete with Douglas, which I'd expect him to win and start. But, what if he wants to be a LT? Good, because Branden Albert is a worry? Best case Albert plays well but we plan for future with La'el at LT and Douglas taking over LG
    4. Mr T.'s former firm is his representation

Check him out, make sure the facts clear and get him signed.

If that happens my draft Grade goes to an A+. And this would cement the best off season in terms of FA/Draft that I've have seen as a Dolphin Fan.

If we don't sign him, it will be because Philbin met with him. If we do sign him, it will be in spite of Philbin meeting with him.

I'm not sure how Philbin meeting with him could cause him to not sign, so why would anyone make the argument? Philbin sucks as a coach and isn't charismatic, but he doesn't have Ireland's asperger's.

I stated yesterday on this forum I thought it was more likely he would end up signing with a legitimate SB contender because he could earn more money over the next few years.

I was merely trying to give reasons he might consider the Dolphins if money is not his main priority at this time. I do agree though that there are no guarantees in the NFL because of injuries and if I were his agent, I would advise him to sign with the team he thinks he can earn the most money with over the next three years.

Unfortunately that is most likely not the Dolphins, since they are probably at least 3-4 years from be a legitimate SB contender.

If it was just a choice between Buffalo and Miami, Miami would certainly provide advantages. The problem is that the Dolphins aren't just competing for Collins against the Bills. They are competing against every other team in the NFL who would love to be able to sign Collins on the cheap for the next three years.
