Pretty much within hours of the announcement that Graham had been traded to Seattle.

Not too bummed Miami came up short, given what they would have to pay in picks and $$$. He's a great player, but have to wonder how much of his production is tied to Drew Brees.

Graham was a player I was hoping the Dolphins would take in the draft when he was available. I just don't think trading a first round pick for him would have been wise at this time. Not with all the other needs this team still has.

The Seahawks could afford to give up a first round pick because their one big area of need was a top tier receiver. They also were drafting late in the first round and it's unlikely they would be able to get a player with that pick who could come in and make the impact Graham will make for them.

I am happy with the signing of Cameron, as long as he can stay healthy. Signing Cameron without giving up a draft pick is better than getting Graham for the Dolphins first round pick, IMO.

Would have been nice but if Cameron is healthy we'll be fine.

Truthfully the Dolphins were linked publicly with that trade while it was happening. I think Adam Schefter came in late and said the Dolphins are trying to assert themselves in the trade for Jimmy Graham. Later Dave Hyde said it outright the Dolphins got involved trying to get Jimmy Graham, in one of his blogs.

How much is any receivers production tied to the QB? Probably a lot... It's not like Ryan Tannehill is Jay Fiedler. Just sayin'.

I'd love Jimmy Graham, but the idea of losing #14 AND Mike Pouncey is hard to swallow. For #14, I'd do it.Plus, I truly think a healthy Jordan Cameron isn't a bad consolation prize whatsoever. Jordan Cameron, as a receiver, is very much in the conversation of best receiving TE's in the league.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I saw this on Hyde's blog a couple of days after the trade.

No prob MB. Glad some people appreciated my efforts. :knucks:

To the rest that already knew, like I said...it was news to me. I don't do Twitter, and I'm not in the club level. So, sorry if this seemed like yesterday's news to those of you that are perhaps a little more plugged in then the rest of us. But, lemmie ask ya'll this...why didn't one of you post it in the mains at the time then? You know, throw the rest of us a bone once in a while? After all, isn't that the purpose of this board? To share information with your fellow 'Phins fans?

    Just sayin'.

Add him to what we have now or with Clay and we would have been a nightmare for a lot of defenses. Nice knowing how damn aggressive this new regime is.

And thanks no news is old news.

NFL.com had an article about this potential trade. They speculated the deal would of involved Cameron Wake.

Cameron Wake + #14 overall for Jimmy Graham. It's an interesting thought... Cameron Wake is 33 years old vs. 28 year old Jimmy Graham. Our pass rush would of suffered greatly, as Cameron Wake was the only player on the d-line to consistently bring pressure. And Dion Jordan is looking like cut bait next season if he doesn't make the idiotic transition to DE successfully. The #14 overall pick makes this deal a lot less enticing and if Cameron Wake was truly apart of the package, I'm not sure Jimmy Graham is worth it. As I said before, Jordan Cameron has elite receiving ability at TE. He's not Jimmy Graham, but he's the next tier down. Jordan Cameron, Cam Wake, and #14 overall is a much better situation for us. Glad we didn't bite.

I wouldn't make the trade for Wake and Graham straight up, let alone + 14

I would. Straight up I mean. As CK said, Wake's 33 and Graham is 28 (will be 29 in November). Graham is arguably the best TE in the NFL and would change to whole dynamic of our offense. Adding Suh means more pressure up the middle, which theoretically means the pass rush on the ends gets a little easier (I'm talking to you Dion Jordan). Then there's the possibility of getting another DE in FA or through the draft. Look, I love me some Cam Wake, but fact of the matter is he's on the downward side whereas Graham still has a few years of prime production ahead of him.

Now, including the our first rounder does change my perspective a bit. But, if we could've gotten a 3rd or 4th round pick back in exchange I would've given it serious consideration.

As for Cameron Jordan, my only concern with him is the concussions. We're still just scratching the surface on the long term effects of concussions IMHO, and he's a prime candidate to miss a lot of playing time and/or forced into early retirement at the rate he's going. Chris Borland anyone?

It wouldn't be for Wake anyway. They are trying to lower their cap number.
