Vikings have narrowed their choices down to 2 guys, but are going to use their draft slot to their advantage and listen to offers. I will be picking before my slotted time, but likely not til morning as I contemplate the choices and trade options.
#6 - Colts [A] - It was reported that they saw GM Todd decked out out in full Clemson gear and accidentally sat at Vic Beasley's table in the green room. Colts select Vic Beasley. #7 - Patriots - I wasn't expecting for the Pats to go need here. With the departure of Wilfork having a guy that can control the LOS is needed but Shelton is not top 10 worthy. With Cooper gone Pats should have gone BPA. Pats select Danny Shelton. #8 - Jaguars [A+] - Yes they rolled the Dice on Foles but to get Fowler Jr at 8 is a STEAL. Best Edge rusher in the guy and super versatile. Well done Jax. Jaguars select Dante Fowler Jr. #9 - Giants [B+] - This was a surprise for me. Giants don't have an elite pass rusher and they had Gregory sitting there. While corner was a need it wasn't their biggest need but now they have a nice 1-2 with Leon Hall and Waynes. Giants select Trae Waynes. #10 - Broncos [A+] Titans don't want to pick so Denver saw a golden opportunity to get one of the elite pass rushers int he draft by moving up. I love the pick and the aggressiveness. Broncos select Randy Gregory. edit-Changed a grade.
I'm elite at finding elite players. Maybe I find 3 good starters in my 7 picks...I recognize that and I'm ok with that. All things considered I like where the Titans are now, and love where they are about to be.
BK's grades are too nice... oh yea, voting determines a winner... nevermind.. GIK, I'm sorry, Shelton is just a more robust Warren Sapp...
True, but that IF applies to high draft picks aswell. Ecspecially combine warriors who struggled to learn a playbook in college but are expected to pick up Bill Lazor's system in a few months....but that's none of my buisness.
See, I would argue that had I took Gregory or Ray, I would still not have anyone elite on the DLine because I would be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I get what you're saying, I really do, and either of those players could end up being great in this style of defense, but that's a projection. I'm not up for making a projection at 9, it would be like taking Shaq Thompson as a safety at 14. Just seems ill fated when you have a potentially elite CB sitting there. Disagreement aside, I have no complaints with the B+ grade, I was expecting lower!
Well when White whens ROY we can revisit this convo. Unless he goes to Oakland then fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
That's the chance he takes. It's a good chance if you're confident in your ability to do that. Plus it's a rebuilding team like I said. They don't need home runs, the need quite a few doubles
Thanks, A. How early in the process? like 2 months ago? I traded up to #6 specifically for Vic b/c I thought it would be high enough to beat everyone else to the punch but still low enough that it'll end up looking like a value pick come draft day when he goes top 5 [kinda like how I did with last year's target, Aaron Donald]. With Jax now paying Odrick $42 million to play that strong-side jumbo DE role, they have little reason to draft Leonard Williams if he slips past the Titans, so I'd put a 60% chance that Beasley is their pick, with the other 40% to Fowler. Gus Bradley already knows from his time in Seattle and from his shared system with them how to put Beasley to good use at either LEO or SAM b/c the SAM in that defense is more than just a 3-4 OLB analog like most 4-3 SAM hybrids are, which to me is what Fowler would be [a 3-4OLB analog]. I put 40% on Fowler b/c there's always a chance the Jags simply view Fowler as the better LEO even though Beasley offers greater overall flexibility.
Hey.... Nobody had as bad a rebuilding project and look at the Jags..... It all boils down to....theres more then one recipe to cook dinner. People just have different ways of trying to arrive at the same destination. Sometimes....actually most of the time...its more about finding the RIGHT players for your team, not always the BEST players for your team
You've made some strides. Tough to take on a rebuilding team and maximize assets. The end results aren't always as pretty as you want...
I'd say the Titans were at the very least the same type of crappy rebuild situation. We have both come a long way from the bottom of the AFC
They still wouldn't fit the system. No way could you put either pass rusher at end in a traditional 4-3. You think our defensive front got crushed in the run game with the undersized duo of Wake & Vernon at end? ..... try substituting one of those tweeners at end when he doesn't have a 5-tech opposite him to balance out the equation. That's why I've been banging the drum all offseason to get Vernon out of there and replaced with a more suitable end whose presence improves our overall run D on 1st & 2nd down. You wouldn't get to see Gregory's pass rush ability very often in NY b/c offenses would be stampeding over him at 6+ yards per clip, leaving few passing downs to tee off on.
There are only two guys that I don't like so far and I've made it pretty clear on who the other one is. But I guess I wanted him too... mmmm No crabs in Green Bay.
Msg me if your interested in trading down to 27 (roughly trade chart value) Inquiring about trading down from 60. Msg if interested.
Hopefully everyone remembers So no one accidentally gets jumped or someone gets too excited and throws a pick up prematurely.
