How do we know what offer, if any have been turned down? For all YOU know they have had multiple offers from idiots offering 33 yr old guards for him. Yes they paid too much. But you make that up with players being paid too little. You don't win football games with a pretty salary cap. You need good players. And Wallace is inarguably an exceptional player when used to his full potential.
What's consistent with winning are good players whose high salaries are justified by their play (Aaron Rodgers, for example), and players who are overproducing in relation to their salaries (Russell Wilson, for example). Players whose salaries aren't justified by their productivity aren't consistent with winning. They keep you from paying other players as much money, and the return they're giving you on the football field doesn't justify it.
As the commercial goes...."Everybody knows that". That doesn't mean you dump talent like Wallace for anything you can get and consider it a coup. I'm sure they aren't in love with the money he is earning. But we need him THIS year. A good Guard doesn't help Tannehill when you're taking away his #1 target. I don't care what they do with him next year as long as we groom a replacement this season.
I suspect we'd disagree about how easily Wallace's production would be replaced, so there's no use in going there.
Given we are running Lazor's system, I am not sure I agree with you. Adding 3/10ths of a second on average more than offsets the loss. For full disclosure, I do not want to get rid of Wallace. Just saying that a stable offensive line is more valuable to the team.
I hope you dont mean Dion, his value is nothing. Hes a strike away from getting suspended an entire season. No one is touching him for more than a 7th.
Drew Rosenhaus on the Joe Rose show just reported that he has reached out the Phins regarding Mathis in the past. He added they are not in the mix of interested teams so it doesn't "appear to be in the cards"
I want Mathis...on this team...soon! I keep thinking back to the round-robin "testing" of our OL guys during camp last year, "Can this dude play center? I bet this other guy can snap the ball, wanna see? How about this dude at starting Guard, think he can push somebody?" Sh*t was painful...no more...ever again...Albert/James/Mathis/Turner/Pouncey....make it fkn happen MT!
Man I was thinking we'd have to send a 5th or 6th their way - which honestly - I'd probably do in a heart beat. But if they outright cut him...could be great for us. I fear the "youth movement" may be over emphasizing here and want to stick with D Thomas either way....which is....saddening...
He might not want to restructure for a trade so that's probably why everyone's playing the waiting game.
