It would be my dream to see Cameron signed to play WR today.

He only played TE two years at USC, the rest of his career was at WR.

His combine and pro day numbers were about the same as Brandon Marshall, and Cameron is of course, bigger stronger and smarter than our former....always open WR.

We could probably have more success with Cameron running nines than with Wallace because of our QB's deep ball. IMO, Wallace's best route is the crossing pattern. He seems to have a knack for catching balls while running 30 mph across the field.

Cameron is over 6'5" and has a max vertical somewhere in the ozone. He is a legitimate deep threat and a bona fide red zone threat.

Besides, playing WR would afford more protection from concussions.

Dolphins could draft a TE and use Jordan on offense a little.

I think that calling someone who runs a 4.7 40 yard dash a "deep threat" is a little disingenuous.

There's a reason he was drafted to play TE in the NFL.

While I do agree with the original poster that I would love to have Jordan Cameron on the team and would be a nice red zone threat for the Dolphins he is not a WR. He is a TE. He is much better running the seams deep than that 9 ball that Wallace runs. Cameron doesn't have the speed to line up on the outside at WR and run that deep ball. That would be like trying to line up Jimmy Graham at WR on the outside every play. They can play in the slot sometimes but these guys are tight ends.

Don't know where you got that number from. NFL Draft Scout has him running an official 4.53 at the combine.

Which makes him an even more dangerous TE. Huge mismatch against most LBs in the NFL.

WR or TE. If his Medical Checks out I sign him right away. He is literally the type of player we've been dying for in the red zone. Don't believe he will be as flexible as Clay in his roles but Sims would stay as our blocking in line TE and allow Cameron to move around a lot more.

He will most def split out Wide a good number of times.

    Can you imagine:

    Wallace - WR
    Landry - Slot
    Rookie - WR
    Cameron - TE

Put Cooper in the "rookie" spot, and wow!!! What an offense that would be... we would just need to take care of our OL depth and maybe pick up a power RB, and we'd be set.

We can have him at TE and he can still produce almost like a WR. The real value of having a versatile TE is so that you can use him on both passing plays matched up on LBs and running plays to block.. I don't really know how good he is at blocking, but if he's at least a decent blocker, it would be a waste of resources if he was moved to WR, IMO. He has good speed for a TE but average speed for a WR.. it doesn't mean he can't line up wide sometimes, but I think the best way to use him would be as a seam-busting TE.

I dont think you really pencil him in.....

Lots of TEs get spread out wide....Gronk for example

I believe Cameron is a better player than Clay. Yet the fact Cameron has had three concussions in the past two years and never played all 16 games during the regular season because of injuries, has to be a huge red flag.

If Clay signs elsewhere and Cameron is willing to play for a cap friendly number , it might be worth taking a chance on him. We just have to understand that him playing all 16 games is probably unrealistic, given his injury history. Also another concussion might just knock him out for the entire season or end his career.

Jordan Cameron would be a huge pickup. From a talent perspective, he could easily be the top receiving TE after Gronk and Graham. And I like him more than Clay. I'm only concerned with medical issues insofar as his contract. If we can get him at a good price for at least 3 years, that's a win. I wish we had the foresight to draft him years ago.

I prefer Cameron to Clay, which makes me feel a little dirty to write. Hope the physical checks out.

    Welker had several concussions, no?

if I knew nothing about Cameron and came here for the first time you would think he is the top free agent on the market. Do I want the guy if he is cleared? Yes do I think he stays healthy for a full season? Very very doubtful.

That's why if the market reflects that and you can pick him up cheap, you do it. Kind of how we lucked in to Grimes.

Plus we need a legitimate RZ threat than convert field goals in to tough TD catches. Which was the biggest flaw in our offense last year, which had the ability to drive up and down the field.

Landry has shown the ability to run after the catch in the red zone, Wallace is Mr Alligator arms and Clay was playing with half a knee last year. When you keep losing games by less than 4 points, having that type of difference maker in the end zone can be the difference between 8-8 and 10-6.

Rumor is Buffalo is going to Front-Load Clay's offer to make it difficult for us. Idk what Cameron's market is but would say $4-6/mil yearly range.

Clay looking to get anywhere from $6-8/mil yearly.

Too much money at one position for two players who aren't good blocking TE's. Doesn't make sense.

Cameron is a supplement if Clay leaves.... might even be an improvement if healthy.

Is there any type of time frame that buffalo has to get an offer in on clay? If not it seems like they could purposely drag their feet on this so we come out with no backup plan.
