I'd prefer to keep Clay, obviously, but moving forward, the injuries are a concern and we shouldn't break the bank on him regardless ... If the Bills wanna pay that much, then it's been fun and good luck CC! TBH, I'm a fan of Sims, and I may be in the minority but I think between his blocking and if he got his route-running finely tuned, I see a higher ceiling than Clay anyway.
They can have him.... I am not for overpaying for a guy that is barely a "B" grade player at his position. Clay is more like a C+ than he is a B-. Now if they get Brees, then the Bills have stacked **** up together that is scary. But overpaying Clay and not having an answer at quarterback is just stupid.
Can Jake Long play guard? Always had trouble with looping speed rushers, always good run blocker....................... #Dreamin
Buffalo would need to get creative to get Brees... they have no 1st and no 4th-round picks this year.
Left side if healthy would be crazy good with Albert and Long.. issue is, those are two injury prone players...
if clay goes do you look at jordan cameron? i know his medical issues and all but you cant go into the season with sims as the #1 tight end can you?
who are we going to replace him with. Fasano is available I believe, but geez I hope we don't start regressing in areas we shouldn't. It took us years to find Clay, and if he is only a C+ for 7 mill, where's the money to improve come from. I hope we dont have to take a step back at TE

Do you know that we would essentially be paying Clay 1 million less than Jimmy Graham if we kept him? Mind you he's not even a third as good as Graham is. Graham is an actual threat at the seam and the red zone, just about anywhere on the field. 5 million a year is fine for Clay, 7 is just stupid. 8-9 million?! THAT'S JIMMY MONEY, you don't pay that for Clay, good luck Buffalo. That's just a massive overpay, and we would be creating a hole on our cap by signing a C+ player at that kind of money. Just because it creates a hole does not mean you should be overpaying. No one in hell should be paying Odrick 9 million a season, and the same goes for Clay. Imagine had we kept those two and not signed Suh? That means we would have had 17-18 million tied to those two players, two guys that barely make an impact. I'm not going to miss them if you haven't caught up to that yet.
I personally love C. Clay and I hope he doesn't chase $ but I can't blame him if he does. I mean honestly when he's healthy he's our best offensive weapon imo.
You guys love mediocre players, that's the issue the Dolphins have had for years, we're always capped out making mediocre players that don't win us games rich. Stop being afraid of what holes we might get and embrace change, change is what this franchise needs after years of mediocrity.
I see your thought. However there has to be someone willing to accept the 5 and be as productive. Where is this TE, Fasano was cut but Clay is way better. Draft I guess and take a chance.
If our history with trading players stays the same....i dont see it happening. Teams know we are up poop creek without a paddle. We always try to trade players when its obvious we are going to release them, so your kinda right..some team would have to be stupid to trade with us right now.
