Wow. I kept hearing this. But really didn't think it was a possibility. Kind of crazy. We just got a HOF on our roster. In his prime.

I am a fan. Don't care about the money. Just make it work.

Winners in free agency, losers in the regular season. I don't like this move one bit. We have too many holes to be paying this much money to one player. On top of that, less money for quality depth which hurt us last year because of injuries.

At this point, I'm just going to have to hope for the best.

You are certainly right, lets hope it does. This one has a chance to turn out differently. I still can not believe that I am reading this. When Hyde first threw it out there in his plan 2 months ago. I scoffed at the notion, mostly due to the view of Philbin and his inability to manage players with one issue or another, so who knows. Obviously it is very clear that Tannebaum has a heavy hand in the direction of this franchise now. Could DGB be next in Rd 1?

The next very interesting development will be how they handle the #2,3,and 4 pure DT spots. There is a lot cheap capable talent on the roster behind Starks and Mitchell, both of whom will leave very little dead money if released, with a tempting net savings of $8M combined. A foursome of Suh, Starks, Mitchell, and Francis or A. Johnson, would be downright frightening. It will probably be Suh and Mitchell, with the best of the younger guys behind, but I would sure love to see that full deck go against Brady a few times. What we dont really know is if Starks wore down last year, or is breaking down at 31. I fear the latter. He has been such a warrior for us.

With the Bills and Jets loading up on talent, and the Patriots being the best team in the NFL, this is a very necessary move. Odrick is borderline average and Suh now makes our defense scary good. We have to pick up someone on our secondary through the draft or trade, but defense should not be an issue anymore. We can focus on our offensive line now and receiver.

On Wednesday, we caught wind of credible chatter that the Dolphins would emerge as the primary player for defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Suh will sign with the Dolphins on Tuesday in the range of $114 million with $60 million guaranteed.

Suh also will get $60 million in the first three years, based on the parameters set by the Dolphins and agent Jimmy Sexton.

I understand that line of thinking but we aren't one player away. We still need to address S, CB and LB on defense. Not to mention our offensive issues.

Very rarely do you see teams that sign the big FA(outside of QB) have any level of success in the NFL. The best teams build through the draft.

How rarely are 4-time pro-bowler & 3-time All-pros in their prime on the open market?

For the record I agree with your premise (building through the draft), but FAs like Suh are not just big FAs IMO. They're a different level.

Anyone saying anything bad about this move has no idea what they are talking about. This isn't a Ellerbe or Wallace free agent signing. This is a top 5 defensive player in the league in his prime. Forget about the price they will make it work this year and next year we have the most cap space in the league. Anyone complaining about the money needs to realize this makes upgrading a lot of other areas on defense less important. the ability to get a pass rush with 4 is the most important thing any defense can have and if Dion Jordan becomes anything at all we have a chance to be one of the best defenses in the league for a while.

Vernon, Wake, Suh, maybe Starks if he stays, Jordan is an incredible pass rush and run defense and it makes our need for CB less important. We still need one LB starter but Misi and Jenkins is a good start as two of your three LB's behind that d-line. Those guys will become better simply by playing behind Suh and the rest of that D-line.

We need to figure out our other safety position, interior line, one CB if they don't trust Taylor or Davis, and one LB and they have the rest of free agency and the draft. This is a huge move. Say what you want about his dirty play and it is dirty, but that shows a sense of competitiveness that I love out of a player. Im not condoning dirty play but ill take a guy that cares that much.

Really wish we didn't keep Philbin however. This team with a guy like Rex Ryan as a coach who doesnt coach like a ***** and settle for punts and field goals on fourth and short would be a legitimate contender given growth from Tannehill, Landry, Miller, and Wallace.

A lot of money, but you got a future HoF in his prime, which is pretty dominant alright. Lot of money yes, but I do not care about it for now. I'll worry about the money if it starts to backfire on us.

For now, Suh just made our team a heck of a lot better.

theyre saying its 60 million in the first three years. We'll find out more soon, but if that's true we're definitely invested in him for the next 3 years, for better or worse.

I guess you forgot about the Packers signing Reggie White in free agency. He went to the Packers and became the leader on a defense that helped the Packers win a SB.

Until the Dolphins win a SB with Suh as their defensive leader, I will stick with White as the most dominant defensive lineman to ever be available in free agency.

As far as the most dominant defender ever availiable in free agency. That title goes to Deion Sanders, hands down. He completely shut down his side of the field in his prime and he was also one of the greatest punt returners in NFL history.

I think signing Suh is a definite positive for the Dolphins and I think he is a great DT. I just wouldn't put this eventual signing up there with the White and Sanders signings at this time. Hopefully we can look back in a few years and legitimately call him the most dominant defender to ever be available in free agency. It will take at least one SB win for me to come to that conclusion though.

    Awesome news!

Someone should make a poll to see what percentage of posters here like/dislike the signing. I understand the arguments against his signing, but seriously this is an all-world talent that will make our entire defense better, so I'm kinda surprised so many seem to be against it.

Boo ! This team has needed a nasty presence since Bryan Cox.. I personally don't care about the money we spent on him, I'm not an accountant. The Dolphins hired these kind of people for me not to worry about it....

I now see Wake being talked about in the DPOY discussion next season because of this move. Who the hell is going to double both?

Watch for the pats to look to get beefed up on the inside with sherrf or Collins.

Pass rush would have been the antidote to those late game winning drives. As we've no doubt experienced being on the wrong end of on both sides of the ball.

Twenty for Suh, Tannehill will probably be getting fifteen or more starting in 2016. That will leave probably around one hundred and ten million dollars to be split between the other 51 men on the roster.

It appears there are going to be a lot of minimum salary players on the roster once they sign players like, Pouncey and Clay to long term contracts. Along with the fact they already are paying Wake,Albert, Grimes, and Jones a good percentage of the cap money.

I think they are going to have to rely on their young players to step up and become starters because they really can't afford to go after anymore high priced free agents. It is imperative that they draft players this year who can come in and be productive during their rookie season.

Philbin and his coaching staff are not going to have the luxury of playing the older players while the younger players wait for their time. Many of the older players are no longer on the team and the job for the coaching staff has now shifted to getting the young players ready to be starters in the NFL.
