You're focusing on an exception to the rule there. Teams don't win 10 games a season on average unless their pass offenses have a 7.2 YPA or better. The offensive YPA the Dolphins had last year is associated with, on average, exactly the number of wins the Dolphins had -- eight. Moreover, despite the Patriots' being an exception to the rule, the Patriots' offensive YPA during Brady's career, on a year-by-year basis, is still correlated with Brady's win percentage as a starter at 0.44, and that figure is almost identical to the correlation league-wide (0.43). http://www.footballperspective.com/correlating-passing-stats-with-wins/ And here are different data that indicate an even stronger correlation: http://archive.advancedfootballanalytics.com/2007/07/what-makes-teams-win-3.html
Part of me thinks this is all a smokescreen to sign Haolti Ngata to a short term contract. Give him a three year deal. That to me would be a better use of money.
Ha! I love MT. Vernon. I use to date a girl from there years ago. Still do some camping in the Apple Valley area.
I'd hardly call it rebuilding when you cut your overpaid players. The contracts given to Hartline, wheeler, and ellerby were all mistakes. Would a rebuilding team pay clay $7M?
Never heard of much camping in AV, but it's a great place. Go to the beach in the summer there. Plenty of Buckeyes on here.
Haha nice man. Never got into the JC-Hooch rivalry. Only went to and lived in Johns Creek my junior and senior years. The hatred between the two student bodies amazed me though.
6 of the 7 times that the Pat's passing offense didn't have a 7.2 YPA they won 11 or more games. Also, for example, P. Manning's career playoff YPA is 7.3 while Brady's is 6.8. Why are the Pat's winning so many more playoff games? Defense. During Brady's career he's played on teams with a defense ranked at least 10th in 11 seasons.. Manning has had that luxury 5 times.
We're currently sort of being burnt by the last time we did that though. I will concede that the difference between Wallace and Suh is that if Suh plays up to his talent level, he's worth the contract he wants while Wallace would have had to exceed his best Pittsburgh years to be worth the $60 million we gave him.
That would be a formidable D-Line. Still not sure if Starks gets to stay or not but if Ngata comes in then Odrick gets re-signed IMO.
Being skeptical of signing Suh is one thing.... But this theory is ridiculous. Are we suggesting that by terminating the unfavorable, handicapping contracts of Hartline, Wheeler, and Ellerbe.... that we are in fact rebuilding ? Furthermore, to spare fans the initial shock of losing said players......lmao.....they've created false hope of signing the top FA to distract us ?
For me it's really not about Suh by himself. Its Tannehill $15,000,000 Suh $18,000,000 wallace $12,000,000 Clay $ 7,000,000 is $52,000,000 tied up in 4 players doable. Geez they are trying to shed money now. Ellerbe is still going count for another 8,000,000 that I have not accounted for
