Bob Arum (Top Rank) and Richard Schaefer (Golden Boy) went to Las Vegas today to try and make the fight, which would be in the "first part of 2010".

Both sides agreed there will be no updates until they have a deal or negotiations fall apart.

I think it's going to get done unless somebody decides they're entitled to more than half. Usually that's Mayweather, who Schaefer says has "given me his marching orders".

Somebody had a great of having both fighters agree to 45 percent split, with the remaining 10 going to the winner.

Boxing itself is washed up. But this should be a good fight.

    FIRST!

    5 years too late IMO.

I felt Pacquiao was showing signs of decline during the Cotto fight (late 2009) even tho he dominated. He's not gotten any younger and he'll likely/hopefully be PED-free 5.5 years later.

I think Mayweather wins another snoozer. His defense remains intact and he'll play it safe. Nobody hits Floyd and diminished Pac won't be any different.

But I'll be watching like everybody else.

$99.95 expected price for this PPV.

Actually, it's $89.95 plus $10 for HD, for all you folks with those new fangled hi-def televisions in 2015. Love how they bury the upcharge nowdays.

What are the odds that Paq fans or Floyd fans blame the loss on "not in prime"

neither guy is "washed up". They aren't who they used to be, but who they used to be was phenomenal. And boxing isn't even close to washed up.

    Live from the Internet.
    This 100%.

5 years ago, Manny had a shot to win a split with his power, speed and being the more active fighter. To win a boxing match you got to knock the guy out, or score points by punching them, can't do either if you cant hit the other guy and that's the case with Mayweather. This is going to be extremely overhyped sporting event that will end up being a zzzz fest.

Well, after 5 years of hard negotiations, it is finally happening. I just hope boxing fans still have a lot of enthusiasms left to watch this fight because it is way overdue. Should the fight postponed for only 2 years, things could have been a lot different as far as the fighters and fans are concerned. Both fighters have gone old already and we all know that age is a huge factor in boxing (especially when it comes to speed). As for the fans, well based on my observation a lot have already lost too much interest in the fight. Will they watch it? Yes but only for the sake of finally settling the issue of who is the best Welterweight boxer there is. in my honest opinion, it is more like an overripe fruit that is still edible but not so good. I just hope both fighters will make an interesting match worthy of being included in the boxing history books.

Time will come that MMA fighting will exceed boxing. I just hope MMA won't get tainted the way some people does to boxing.

You got that right. UFC been stealing WWE Wrestlers who wanna test the waters of a real man sport (CM Punk and Brock Lesnar will be coming back to UFC after Wrestlemania), all Boxing has is Floyd, Pacman, and Klitscko. Those are the only draws, everything/everyone else isn't worth watching.

However, I can't wait for this LONG overdue fight between Money and Pacman.

That was the rumor about Lesnar, but supposedly he's resigning with WWE....he has nothing to prove and is worried about concussion issues in UFC.

Boxings highest PPV in 2014 More then 900,000 buys.

    UFCs highest 360,000

    http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/23/dear-dana-ufc-pay-per-view-numbers-declining/

People keep talking about UFC over taking boxing. I think some day it will probably happen because majority of fighters are going to continue to go the UFC way. But it certainly wont happen anytime soon. UFC has a lot of issues, and viewership has been dropping. Think about all the UFC cards. We have probably had 1 or 2 good cards in the past 10 or 12 of them. People are tired of wasting their money.

The problem with boxing is too many associations, too many championships, and no exciting heavy weight fighters.

I think the biggest problem with boxing is there is not fight maker that makes the exciting fights happen. Not just let the fighters and promoters do it as they please..

you mean besides the fact that it's international , multiple federations exist all over the world, has tons of amateurs and it makes way more than mma ever did/does? boxing is light years above mma. It's not even close at the moment. Boxing is done from the age of 3 onward for some of these guys. Not very many sports can say the same.

UFC won't. Not with the bs cards they've been making. Not to mention, boxing is something like 3rd generation now. UFC has awhile to wait till it gets that good/ingrained in to the populace.

Thats one of many problems imo. No consistency, the average fan doesnt know who the champs are, the contenders, rankings etc....its a crapshoot and way too jumbled together.

the average fan only knows of the big four, as the rest are more feeder groups. I agree maybe 2 leagues would be good, but the problem is boxing has a lot of talent at the amateur and then the pro level. It's hard to widdle that down to a chosen few or have enough fights to do so.
The non fan knows who pacman, mayweather, hopkins, etc are. Boxing always has unknown champs, but a lot of people wouldn't know who say Andy Dalton is in the nfl either, and the mainstream guys, every one knows Tom Brady and Sugar RAy Leonard, Duran, etc. Boxings only real problem right now, is the pay per views. With nbc bringing back saturday night fights, I think that'll change and boxing will become more mainstream again.

It is sad that UFC fighters are not making enough money compared despite the fact that they contribute a lot of money to the organization through ticket sales and PPV. Rousey was even reported saying ring girls make more money than most UFC fighters..
