Someone needs to explain the tagging system to Silverphin ;p And yes...trading is slow. I can't believe I've only done 4.
Yah it's strange. I'm not actively scouring pages looking for players, pretty much just listening as offers come in. Dallas already had a great roster so it's been more about tweaking.
And mine has been about rebuilding. If you have anyone sort of young at the LB, DL, or secondary position you're open to moving let me know.
That's the other thing. Dallas is buried in free agents and UDFA tags etc etc. Their DL was already underwhelming...and it's got 3 UFA's. Same with LB's....UFA's across the board. Got 2 pieces filled on the DL at least with young up and coming guys. LB work is going to be a bit trickier.
Well if I went the dismantling route it would have been fine. Keeping the core together is another story. Too many FA's and RFA's etc. Only 6 players make $3 million or more.
Exactly. Those were two cap-screwed franchises right now. Im really curious to see what VDP and WUIF do with Dallas and New Orleans.
Nah, he was just the 2nd best 3-4OLB in PFF's ranking after Justin Houston. And he did in 540 snaps. 8 sacks-21 hits-35 hurries in 540 snaps. Some players dont do that with double the snaps. Unless I get a really solid offer, he'll be starting for me somewhere.
He was gonna get paid regardless. WR's are treated like gold in this league. Im thinking about not even bothering there and putting like 4 TE's out there
He had a decent year as a rotation. I don't think he is worth $11 million. Probably would want to see a 2nd year with that kind of production to even consider it but to each their own.
Maybe, but didnt want to lose him and I think he would have gotten at least what Jason Worilds got last year in GML FA (7.5M) and hes a better player the Worilds imo. Depends on how you look at it. I saw a similar scenario unfold and I didnt think that Worilds would get that last year. Fool me once, shame on me...not gonna happen 2x.
Ellerbe got paid because Ray Lewis was the Best MLB of his generation IMO. Ellerbe should send him 1/2 his check every Christmas.
McPhee has always shown signs of pass rush ability. He's always had a positive pass rush and he's played EVERYWHERE. His first year he had a 20.5 pass rush rating as a left DT. The next year 5.2 as a Left DE. A 1.9 as a ROLB a year later and finally an explosion because they stopped moving him around. He's well worth protecting.
Think of it in Miami terms. You could have him spot either O.V. or Wake. Or you could slide him inside to DT as a pass rusher....or just line him at LB and let him find a gap. That's valuable imo. He's position flexible as a rusher.
Like I said the other day, I'm $8.5M under right now. I'm about to make cuts as well which will free up more cap. Stay tuned.
Well there is one way to sort out the cap. Drop Dez's tag to non-exclusive if someone lets me know they are going to throw high enough firsts at it. Would free up a lot of cap and probably improve the team as a whole....but that's a play it by ear thing. I think I've already made positive steps in improving that defense across the line and in the secondary.
