It's alright to set up parameters but don't 100% handshake on anything and make it clear it's just the basic parameters. Keep that until at least 24-48 hours after rosters are out. Key things when doing that though.......your word is god around here. You welch on a trade and everyone is going to know and probably avoid you. So even if you agree to a bad trade before trading is official...stick with your word. Another thing for everyone around here. Before you cut a guy....always post in the most active discussion thread and just say "Hey I'm going to cut so and so in the next 24-48 hours if I don't get even a 7 for them". Last year there was at least 4-5 guys that teams cut...and I would have gave them a 7th for them (or others would have). It's not good enough just to update your trade block. People can't pay attention to everyone's block all the time.
there are some things said here that I agree with. However, one thing, sticking with your word... I disagree... mostly because a trade is not official until you accept it in the official trade thread. There are circumstances that can arise that can lead to a team backing out of a trade before it's officially posted. Now, if a GM does that to you, then certainly it's your decision on whether you ever want to deal with them again or not. As it should be 100% up to you. Alot of this turns into a he said she said thing. And it kind of takes the fun out of it. We then get a thread consisting of one GM complaining about how another GM is doing their business. I think at that point it can backfire on the complaining GM. At the very least... be extremely careful about ALL trades that are contingent upon something else happening first. A perfect example of this is attempting to trade a player that has been franchise tagged. Now, this year, I'm not sure what the rules are going to be. But in the past, it's been an area of... controversy.
Trading a franchised or tendered player will result in a full dead money penalty for the original team.
They locked Sean and I out from this forum at work. Yay. Letting everyone know now, I'll be non-existent during the day, but active at night and on the weekends.
ouch... the tapatalk app for the phone is fairly decent. I used that the one year I was working for the mother ****ing anti christ.
Yeah, I like Tapatalk too. The only thing I dislike about it is it doesn't really recognize some formatting things.
Sorry if this has already been answered, but will we be able to sign college coaches? I never understood why there was a limit to the number of college guys we could hire for HC positions.
Also, I'm already fielding offers for some of the Lions best players. Again, NO ONE IS OFF LIMITS as long as I'm getting a fair return. I've already had some discussions for some of my top guys. If you want an early leg up, make me an offer.
Only if they've interviewed for a HC position with the NFL this year in real life. Hiring college coaches is pretty unrealistic in general IMO so that's why I limit it... people were signing the likes of Nick Saban and what not when they had no interest to go to the NFL.
I really have no idea, I figured that would be the best way to do it to make it somewhat realistic. I couldn't find a list of interviews anywhere. I do know that Mike Shanahan interviewed for a couple jobs so someone like him would be available as far as head coaches currently out of work go.
What's your web filter? If it's Barracuda I can help you with that potentially. My job locked me out of like all forums for a day once. Once.
This is why they make smartphones! I never liked using Tapatalk or any other app for this forum fwiw. I just make due with smaller links to click on the full page.
I think the only 'notable' college coach that was explored was Lane Kiffen, and that was only as SF's offensive coordinator.
Are you talking the blue mobile layout? I never have issues with that. If your talking just running the full site on mobile...then duh ;p
I'm confusing people so far. A LOT of trade discussion coming in but I'm not really into it right now beyond what I've said in my trade block. People are assuming I was going to rip the Cowboys apart, but the boys aren't my usual reclamation team. No quick deals for this guy this year. Just early parameter talks.
I'm tempted to delete all trade blocks later tonight because it looks like I am condoning early trade talks. I do not want people to talk trades this early. I can't enforce it but I can make sure these threads aren't viewable.
Wouldn't do much. A lot of it is people pre-emptively shopping guys. Smells a little desperate really
It's more excitement over the league starting and putting out "feelers" Bunch uh drama queens I tell ya!
Oh yah there's been the excitement guys, but I've definitely gotten almost half being "It's Day 1 and I'm itching to dump this overpriced guy fast. Fire sale. Fire sale". Never stated I don't like it or anything (I'm against having the blocks deleted to). Just not to expect me to be fast on the trigger like last year. Going to take my time and I'll be surprised if I make even a 1/4th of the trades I did last year. Almost kinda miss not taking a more reclamation project, but I wanted to try a bare non playoff or playoff team this year to see how it goes.
Yes. Rosters will not be the same February 11 because there are still contracts that void days after the Super Bowl. There are team options that could be decided before then too. I held off releasing rosters until then for a reason.
Anyone doing anything more than gauging intrest at this point is likely short changing themselves, I doubt anyone is pushing for an "agreement" already. No need to get all Hitler on us GIK!!
Oh yah. Been none of that yet. I wouldn't let it get that far. Dallas is one of those teams that has a LOT of options and restructures coming up. They are even stupidly talking about restructuring Romo's contract again.
