If GIK lands the Pats again, will schisno co GM with him again? this has de ja vu written all over it.
Schisno's attention to detail is impeccable.... and his unwavering mental capacity for such is remarkable. Well done sir.
Remember when we had the first overall pick in the 2008 draft and it was announced a day beforehand that we would be selecting Jake Long? Is that what we want? No suspense? C'mon now...
yeah but that wasn't THAT bad... because there were rumors that we had been negotiating with Vernon Gholston. So it was more relief than anything I still wanted the other Long though.
GMs are always wary of the way winners are determined, just look at the GMOTY award. everyone has their own definition and attributes they are voting for. I know and Van certainly knows he was not GM of the year last year. Yet there hasn't been a standard set on what to vote for because this game is all about personal values, and just because someone is certainly cheerful or nice that doesn't make them a candidate to be GM of the year as well. We've tried different formats of voting, but the criteria still needs to be set. Does a Todd deserve to be ignored because he has been called a used care salesmen or been moderated out of the league once, or is it strictly on just the merit of team building? Then does someone who tends to take a safe team like the Colts or Steelers or Ravens after a Superbowl win deserve credit for many of their moves because some of the player values may be over inflated. Or should a GM of the Year go to someone who can make an All Star team full of nothing but names? Unfortunately we'll all never agree, and sadly Madden's franchise mode isn't what it once was. So why not a football sim? Well Beyond The Sidelines for those who enjoy OOTP Baseball is still a ways from being released, but there is the option of http://www.whatifsports.com/nfl/. Sadly it is a paid simulator and the hours of putting into creating "dream "teams" or not so dream teams because some GMs might not know how to build. The only true way to solve this is to find a pop warner league and throw jerseys with our players names on it and sim it that way.
Agreed, but I sure will take that win under any circumstances. That win was pure social engineering and high activity level. Although I did have some moments with the way I landed 3 top corners via Franchise sign and trade and some shrewd low cost FA pick ups (Earl Mitchell, Justin Forsett, Dawan Landry for 2 min salaries and $600k)
I started with Matt Schaub. Hard to acquire a QB without a very high price most of the time. Plus I had good luck the year prior trading for Philip Rivers who everyone here thought was washed up and I got a great season out of for a 2nd rounder. Trading JJ was about resources. One great player or the 4 starters and one depth player that his trade led to. When your dealing with a crap team you got to give some (and hell I got bored). The 3 trades I would take back is the Sam Bradford one (got too impatient trying to find any QB besides Matt), the 3rd/6th I sent for Arthur Brown who I really thought would break out this year and the 3rd/6th for Nate Washington who couldn't give me that one last year I needed out of him ;p
I've always liked the idea of letting a panel of respected members not in the league vote on each team WITHOUT KNOWING WHO GM'd the team. Nobody wants to work hard for 3 months just to be overlooked because you're the guy who blames Tannehill for the deep ball and vice versa. Let's be honest, this thing has been turned into a popularity contest all too often. Every year Alen1 was in this he was up for some draft awards....looking back at the drafts one has to wonder if his name was XXXX would he have gotten those votes?? I dunno, but I like my idea.
The hard part is finding a panel of judges willing to take the time to read all the write-ups and make a decision.
I think Todd would do great to be such an important figure as a judge for the GML... Although his presence would be missed during the regular season
So ummm.... the #3 overall team selection is available for trade [draft picks only of course since I have no idea what stinkin team you'll have]. Let the bidding begin.
