NFL will hold veteran free agent combine in March

"Capitalizing on every team's desire not to see good players fall through the cracks, the league will introduce a veteran combine set to begin this March in Arizona.

at the end of March just prior to league meetings, roughly 100 veteran free agents will be chosen through the application process to work out in front of representatives from all 32 teams.

this could be a valuable avenue for players who were discarded quickly or toiled in training camp at a deep position. No matter how well-stocked a team's personnel department is, it's impossible to keep an eye on every eligible player cycling through the system."

This will be good for the guys who never saw much opportunity. I can't imagine top players that were entering Free Agency doing this unless they were coming off an injury.

Yeah, it's not for players like Suh. It's good for someone like Moreno though.

I think this is a good idea. Sorta long overdue. Its good for veterans who still have something left.

Maybe we should a Free Agent (FA) board as well? Just like the draft board?

I'd be really curious to see the guys who end up picked for this, I think this could be a really valuable thing for both teams and guys who have fallen through the cracks.

I mean, just think of the former Dolphins- Guys like Chris Clemons, Davone Bess, Richie Incognito, Dustin Keller are all guys who could still be valuable starters on teams if they've got their issues together and get a chance to get back out there besides waiting for a GM to remember they exist.

Considering how many former Dolphins are FAs it would be yet another indictment if our failed leadership over the years.

could see this being an opportunity down the road for guys like R Mathews. Has size and talent, but buried on our depth chart (or doghouse).

No, the minute Matthews is cut ( Another BS Vendetta by Philberry Dough Boy ) He will be immediately be picked up by San Francisco to team back up with his college QB Kaepernick and turn right into an all pro just like Vontae did. Someone should have control over him just singling out and riding guys relentlessly, especially those with Talent.
