hopefully this move also free's enough cap to bring in a better cb. imo we are pretty good at the dline,lb core even without taylor but our cb issue is still a little iffy due to young age and unproven players at the moment. while will allen did a great job i would still like to see him as a #2 guy but the biggest issue is that theres really nobody out there better in fa at the moment. a few guys didn't get franchised around the league but ther is still time to have a deal worked out with their respective teams. also should help tie up a guy or two with only a yr left on their contract.
the having 2 seconds again next yr will be nice...either 2 good players or a oppurtunity to move around the board is a great feeling.

i guess Vonnie isn't really such good friends with JT then if he was unaware that JT did not want to play for Miami any more.

That's what I thought too, but in his Redskins press conference he talks about how he was at the locker room on Friday getting his stuff ready for TC, as if he was really going to be attending.

He wasn't going to hold out. But, he wasn't going to be happy about being forced to play for the Fins.

I think Porter won't be a distraction because he respects the people in charge.

At this point everything JT says should be taken with a grain of salt. That statement there sounds a little too convenient.

Tell that to Redskins fans, their response is just "Haha, you guys are 1-15..."

I think Holliday is just a little disappointed that we traded one of our defensive leaders and he doesn't want to believe that we're a rebuilding team. No veteran wants to believe that we're rebuilding and I don't expect Holliday to be any different. I don't want to see Holliday go, but I don't blame him if he wants to...

And our response at the end of next yr will be the same. I'm telling you the Skins are going to have a bad yr. Maybe win more then one...but not many.

Nah, we're better than that. No reason to throw salt at an open wound... Actually I told them that and they basically told me to **** off...

The Skins have a tough division to begin with, I don't see them winning more than six games personally. Facing the Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles twice a year? Ouch...

But the GM does the leg work, and all reports are Parcells was the one the Redskins kept calling.

I remember a few people like KB and myself getting roasted when we said that Parcells would be the real GM, and now it seems Parcells is the real GM while Ireland is his Assistant.

I don't disagree with the trade, but I would have rather had a 2nd and a 5th next year from the Saints.

This is Ireland's first year as a GM. I think it is the perfect situation for him.

Basically Parcells is mentoring him, I think that's why they hired that old-time personel guy a month ago. The guy who worked for the Steelers decades ago...

The Tuna will be gone in a few years, I think his new organizational structure looks solid IMO. It sure seems like an improvement. Ireland has had to deal with Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells hopefully he will do better against that S0B at KC (carl peterson) than the last guys we had... :shifty:

That concept is one of "entitlement." I don't think an athlete is "entitled" to be put into a better winning situation. If winning has any real value it's something that is earned, not given. Players that think they are entitled to that are "me first" and that's most likely part of why they arent a champion to begin with.

That is the silliest thing I have ever read. Then every player who has ever played the game has "entitlement".

Players do not have control on the moves their team makes.

Don't know how since they are playing to win games. Unless you think they are playing for the heck of it. Then I would agree.

That is the point. These players play to win. They are not in charge of "rebuilding". So when Holliday sees the team make a move that hurts their chances to win, today, he isn't happy. Why should he be? He wants to win today. I wouldn't want him on the team if he didn't want to win.

Does anyone know how this deal affects our cap? That has to be a consideration if it freed up cap space.

Well, Vonnie... #99 hasn't been at any one of the many practices this offseason. Not seeing him on the field with you should be very familiar. If you miss him that much, TiVO the next 'Celebrity Gladiators'.

C'mon fellas. Jokes aside Vonnie has a point. Sure what the FO did was best for all parties in the long run but he's a pro athlete and like all pro athletes, are just going to be competitive by nature. The players want to win now. I want the team to win now too for that matter. That fire should still be in all players and fans coming off a bad season and no one should just throw in the towel even if the world expects another terrible season. To me, I agree with him, it is confusing as to where now on earth are we going to get a pass rush? Hardly anyone on the team has been able to prove it. The game is played one week at a time not one season at a time.

Maybe it's just because he believed his boss, the big man. You know, telling everyone that would listen, Jason will be a Dolphin or retire. You don't trade away your best players, etc.

NOw, I'm not holding that against parcells. Like I've always said, players need to do what they gotta do, and FO/Coaches the same. All's fiar in love and war.

Vonnie's quote was for sure stupid and probably passive aggressive. It was a public slap in the face of team management, his bosses. Which makes it by nature stupid. For a guy his age to be focused on winning now is understandable, but he should have kept his pie hole shut. He's a pretty well spoken guy- he knew why the move was made, no need for him to run his mouth, especially to the media- which is why it seems awfully passive aggressive.

Daivd Bowens ran his mouth a couple of years ago- I think it was about Saban being a college coach and coming to coach the Fins, about how rah rah stuff would not be effective in the pros- that or us not hiring Jim Bates, something like that. He was canned quickly as I recall. If any of these guys step up- Roth, Starks, Rod Wright, Merling, Langford- Holliday and his big ticket contract might be shown the door.
