I was out on Tannehill prior to the year, especially after his first 3 games this year.

However, he's earned another year. I think there has been some pretty stark growth.

He still misses WRs due to not reading a defense, or locking in on a pre-snap read. However, he's improved in almost every area that most had issue with - pocket presence/extending plays, accuracy, etc.

I don't see the Top 5 ceiling. I don't think it's there. Those guys typically get there in the first 3 years of their careers. However, I think he can be Alex Smith with a little more production out of the QB spot. I think he's worth giving another year, in this system, to see how he develops.

I think he needs some more playmakers at his disposal. He's been on the wrong end of big drops, but he's also been a reason for lack of big plays too (simply just missing open players). That's due to the OL, due to him, everyone.

I think another year in the offense may help there, as well as an upgrade to the players around him and an OL that has some continuity/talent added to it.

Moore was never given a shot to start and play a full season with the Dolphins. He did finish up the season 5-3 and won games in December. Was also the team MVP.

Screw off, dolphin25. If you are SERIOUSLY attempting to blame Tannehill for the lack of TDs, especially after yesterday's fiasco, you're really showing your true colors. I shouldn't have even taken you off ignore long enough to read that post. Back to ignore you go. Do other teams have this many trolls?

    Absurd.

I never said he was not the problem. I said building around him is the best chance for success over the next four years.

How long can the trolls run rampant? Will they leave when the season ends? Will they all drink poisoned Kool-Aid when Tannehill is given an extension? Stay tuned.

    Here's what we "know:"

    The o-line doesn't have "it."
    The WRs don't have "it."
The RB that dropped the TD pass doesn't have "it."
The coaching staff doesn't have "it."
    The Defense doesn't have "it."

    Tannehill??? Still an unknown.

Excuse me ! Why are you discussing ANY of our threads with opposing teams fans? Could be a big RED FLAG if you are a club member, because as you know there is alot of priveledged, sensitive info that is to be kept in club. You don't discuss any club threads with anyone do you? Just a friendly reminder. Thanks Res.

Right now he certainly is not a "Really good Qb" does that merit giggles?? I dunno, but he is a solid hopefully ascending young QB.

    Season stats so far:

    369/551
    3786 yds
    67% comp
    26 TDs
    12 Ints
    93.2 QB rating

If someone from the future told me in the beginning of the season that he'd finish with stats similar to these, I'd have jumped with joy

Are people making a decision based on a meaningless game against a sub-.500 team at the end of the season?

He played a nice game, but it's one game.

His accuracy down the field as well as willingness to take the shots has improved as well it would seem. Also what a coincidence that the day Dallas Thomas doesnt play, Ryan doesnt get killed every drop back.

Tannehill is not the problem. The jury is still out on him (and should probably draft a QB in 3rd round maybe who could push him even more, and as security in case he doesn't work out ultimately), but he had a solid season and they still missed the playoffs.

Coaching staff better not get a pass. Coaching and O-Line(again) were big issues this year. Defense also lacks depth and couldn't hang with good offenses.

Let's not get crazy here...Tannehill was smacked on his *** on a good majority of his passes. Pretty much every pass in the first half ended with him on the ground.

Sure he did get hit. Usually not immediately though, he generally had just enough time to throw. Which is what you expect from a backup offensive lineman.

Anyway it seems Ryan will be getting next year since Ross says Philbin is back.

You mean a game that we HAD to win to have any chance of making the playoffs? Is that your definition of meaningless?

He's having the best season since Marino was playing. Yeah it sucks that we aren't making the playoffs. Yes I wish he was Aaron Rodgers.

He is markedly better than last year. His completion percentage is 6 points higher, he has more TD's, 9 less turnovers and his QB Rating is 12 points higher.

At this point it should be obvious to everyone, the new crop of Tannehill bashers are nothing but trolls, or alternate accounts of current members who didn't like the Tannehill pick...Or a combination of the two.

Everybody would have been thrilled. (BTW he's also rushed for more yards than any QB in team history). But too many people can't separate team disappointments from individual evaluations. Tannehill has clearly continued to improve and is one of the best young QBs in the game. The main legit but still unreasonable complaint is that Tannehill doesn't show the veteran savvy of QBs with several years more experience.

Or they're people who were quite disappointed in his performances when our season is on the line (last year and this).

Earlier someone said that Tannehill is 'blossoming'. REMINDER: last two weeks we scored 2 total touchdowns against AFC playoff rivals with our season on the line. Put this one great game against a team with nothing to play for in perspective here...though give him credit for saving Joe Philbin ...talk about bittersweet.

Also, they're a team with the 6th ranked pass defense... If they had nothing to play for, why did they take us to the wire and score 35 points? They played hard, they're a good defensive unit under Mike Zimmer. Young, but good. Lets put that into your perspective... because its relevant in the discussion, so stop dismissing it. Also, our team went into today, still able to make the playoffs. It was a must win for us. Sure the chances were slim, but this game was the same as the last three for the players on this team. A must win game. Add that to your perspective... although I supposed that's out of the question too.

There are two problems I have with this...

1). Third-round QB's rarely turn into starter material (And before anyone say Russell Wilson, Wilson is an exception, and probably would have went first round if he was 6'2" or taller)

2). Taking the above into consideration, you'd end up spending 3rd that could have been used at a much more needed position.
