Yeah, we did not need a right tackle. Shame on Hickey for not reading his crystal ball correctly and know that Albert, Moreno, and Delmas would all tear their ACL. Good GMs can always predict those things. :pity:

He solved very little in his first year.

He got us a star wide receiver and a really good tackle, it's a start.

edit: and I'm just talking about the draft too.

And, we have you with your 20/20 hindsight saying he should have picked Kelvin Benjamin at 19. Yet, I doubt you can produce one post from before the draft where you clambered for Benjamin as the best player for Miami at that point.

Ha! I mentioned Kelvin in that thread too. But, it does not answer the question off one post where you said he'd be the best player for Miami, period. That thread was only about which WR any of us would want, IF we took one first. Unless you believed we needed to take a WR no matter what. PFF rates KBen as the 94th best WR, and James as the 61st best OT. Had we taken KBen in the 1st I guess we may have taken Morgan Moses in the late 2nd. So it is hindsight to say which pair, KBen and Moses, or James and Landry, would be the best for Miami. Since we took the latter, there is no reason to say that not taking KBen is at the root of all our woes.

Good tackle and good receiver are not good enough.
Just like a good DT is not good enough in the first round when a beast like Dez is there for taking. Or a good LB is not good enough when Gronk is on the board for taking.

We have right now 5 WRs who are better than the best WR we've had in the last 20+ years, OJ McDuffie (arguably, with the exception of B Marshall, who I do not think highly of because he is slow, lazy and can be covered.) We have 5 better receivers than OJ right now.
To get 1000 yds, 10 TDs we will "juice" out every sweat drop and skill out of these guys.

And then you have Kelvin Benjamin, in his rookie year, 1000 yds and 10 TD, and it will be considered a down year, because he's a beast. For Wallace and Landry, it's a great year.

This orgaanization needs to start drafting beasts. There is no bigger need than a beast. Good is not good enough, and that's where we are at with Hickey after 2014 draft.

He put together a functional roster from one with an incredible amount of problems. I do not agree with you opinion.

I'm not sure I'm in agreement with Rex Ryan. I feel the Ryan defenses are fads that are great out of the gate but soon get exposed. The Jets have sucked the past couple of years as are the Saints. Our defense played incredibly well the first half of the season, but we were exposed in being able to stop the run when the Jets ran the ball down our throats, so I'm not sure whether or not Coyle's defense is the defense...or if our players just quit.

I've been a huge proponent of defense, ringing that bell quite often, but on the other side of the ball I've been ringing a bell that has seemingly gone unheard and that's running the ball. I've pointed to the games; I've pointed to the stats and bottom line is when we run the ball 25 times or more a game, we win. Go back and look at the game stats and see it for yourself. We lack a running game, or at worst, a coaching staff that lacks the will to commit to the running game.

This is what we need, a STRONG defense and a devastating running game. Get those pieces in place and we'll win, regardless of who our coach is.

I don't know how much of Ryans defensive issues this year are coaching related vice personnel related. Idzik is the greatest thing to happen to the Dolphins in a long time, and he's done a great job of crippling the Jets.
