I think he's a rhythm QB, and the whole offense is a rhythm offense, timing is important from the line to pass to the route. He has no timing with Wallace's routes including the protection.

For example, in the redzone on Sunday, we are down on Ravens' 5 somewhere, but the offense was not in rhythm. We had penalties, and protection was breaking down, we did not run the ball. So Wallace gets open, wide open in the corner, and he overthrows him, even tho he had time. That is the throw he makes to everyone when he is in rhythm.

You can also saw him in the huddle pushing and yelling. He wanted to get the offense in rhythm. The best way to calm down the offense and get it going is running and then passing will open up, and we did not do that. Even deep passing and rhythm in deep passing can come out of that.

 

That is my almost exact assessment of him..I in earlier stated that before the Oakland game

 

We should have went to the 2 minute drill to get him in Rhythm. ..I was saying that during the game..you almost have to do it with him...the guy is not clutch.

The oline is only a problem because of injuries. I'm speaking to earlier in the year. You just come in these threads trying to be confrontational. Sure, right now, the oline blows, and isn't giving enough time to throw deep. Earlier in the year, they were, and Wallace, and others, were dropping deep balls, or running crap routes, our stepping out of bounds on catches.

 

Far from confrontational, it just seems a lot of us are of the opinion our deep ball issues are a combination of OL, QB and WR and some others only blame OL and WR. Just trying to help you see Ryan is part of the problem...we both want to see it fixed.

 

Ok, that makes sense. I just think that the smallest part of the problem is on Tannehill. Receiver play early on was a huge problem, oline play lately is the huge problem. I don't care how well Tannehill could throw the deep ball, I don't think it would be successful consistently right now because of the other two groups.

Yeah, shut up about Marino. He retired almost 20 years ago. So what Marino did or didn't do is irrelevant in speaking about Tannehill. Marino was a one in a lifetime player.

I've seen him throw a touch TD to Sims last year, that was a 2 min offense with Sherman. He need his groove.

Sometimes he starts slow. For example, on opening drive there is throw to RB in the flat, and he rolls slower, the throw is slow and late, RB gets drilled at the los. Then, because he is not executing at good pace, he starts rushing the throws and throws start sailing. Imo, the best way to calm him down and get him going is to run. But Lazor has been sticking to pass trusting he will eventually get there, and things often do not get better without running game.

 

Lazor's been pass happy for most of the season, I think he's trying to preserve Miller by using more read option and quick throws.

 

People are looking for things to be pissed at, I guess. Perhaps I could have worded my post better, but not sure how, while still getting the point across. What I was TRYING to say, was it doesn't matter how Marino threw the ball, or whether he had trouble hitting receivers. Marino had better receivers, and a better oline. Marino also was a once in a lifetime player. Bringing up how Tannehill compares to Marino is pointless, so stop doing it. There isn't a Marino available, either in college or free agency. It's fine to appreciate what we had when Marino was here, but it is in no way fair to compare every QB we have now to Marino.

If you want to take that and spin it into me somehow telling you that you should stop posting, then be my guest. All I was saying was stop bringing Marino's play into the discussion around Tannehill, as it is irrelevant.

 

No, the problem is that people keep redefining what a deep ball is so that it fits their narrative. So, we have one person who said a deep ball was 70+ yards...LOLOLOL. We have others saying that a deep ball isn't a deep ball unless it's more than 40 yards. The NFL says it's anything over 20 yards. We have plenty of statistics showing that Tannehill only has an issue, outside of the norm for QBs, throwing at Wallace. So, disagree all you want, but there is evidence that says that Wallace is a large part of the problem.

 

We still need information about whether the deep balls thrown to Wallace have been appreciably longer in the air on average than the ones thrown to other players. Obviously if that's the case (and I don't know whether it is, personally), there's a fairly simple explanation for the differential deep passing game performance with regard to Wallace that may have less to do with Wallace himself. We shouldn't call Wallace "the problem" with any certainty until we have that information.

 

The bolded part is purely opinion that I don't agree with it.

I've felt that all year long, or since the Oakland game (about the time Marino was working with him) that he's just let it rip without thinking much about things. The same is the deep ball too.

I also think the OL since Detroit hasn't really allowed many of those throws to develop down the field.

He's also just flat out missed a few. I always wonder why we never get those "broken coverage deep balls". A lot of has to do with him having a pre-snap read and going with it or coming off a read too early. For example, I'm thinking of the Jarvis Landry seam TD he had wide open vs Ravens last week.

 

Many of us have seen balls fall harmlessly outside of Wallace's tiny reach, that other receivers catch fairly easily. We've watched Wallace not adjust to balls well in the air. We've watched all sorts of issues related to Wallace and the deep ball. Now, that doesn't mean that Tannehill is throwing perfect balls for Wallace to catch, and he just hasn't caught them. What it does mean, to me, is that when a QB isn't throwing a perfect deep ball, that Wallace lacks the skill/ability to adjust to the ball and make a play on it. Like I said earlier, I truly believe that a Benjamin/Watkins/Jackson/Fitzgerald/Johnson makes those catches, and we aren't here having these conversations. Heck, I think DeSean Jackson makes a bunch of those catches, and we're not having this conversation.

We all have our ways to want to help the team get better and even if we don't agree at times we still need to respect the person's opinion just like we ate happy if our posts are respected. I'll tell you that I for one have really enjoued being a part of this site and now with Club too....it is awesome and you have been a big part of my enjoyment here as well as some others..Just want to tell you before I forget that I am wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas.

 

Wow that will be awesome to watch in Club..I have witnessed a Championship..2 and it was awesome...I was 14 when wr last brought it all home...man I haved longed for those days and kind of teams and coaches to return us to glory. I also miss the days of the 78-80,000 screaming Miami fans with the white hankies rocking the Orange Bowl. I hope & pray like you do that JRS get's the right mods and brings back our home field advantage.

 

So true....I wish we could have a stadium downtown again...also having the seats right on the field all the way around and a more envlsednfeel liken the OB had..a bowl shape per say over what we have now.
