It's pretty amazing the talk was how poor Ravens secondary was, and no talk of our beat up secondary.
Man everything was going Miami's way. Up 10-0 and shutting down the run. This was what I wanted. To get an early lead and stop the run early. Then that would force the Ravens to pass more. For much of the season the pass rush and pass defense has been our strong point defensively. Seemed to me everything was going Miami's way. Ironic how we were all worried about the Ravens running the ball on our struggling run D but it was their passing game that did us in today.
Its the NFL and its different because the "next man up" effect actually is successful much more often as opposed to the NBA. This is Walt Aikens chance to shine and make a name for himself. We need to beat New England in their house, and we're talented enough to do it, so I think we go up to Foxboro and leave it on the field.
Yeah there is a chance but much more difficult and unlikely chance. Now with the team struggling these last 2 weeks they need to somehow turn things around and beat Pats up in their house. Not to mention all the injuries this team has. Playoffs or not I would love it more than anything to sweep the Pats. That would actually make my year.
Can we be realistic for a sec? At this point we are better off not making the playoffs so this putz Philbin doesn't have a chance to keep his job. Is the team you watched the last two weeks a playoff team? No chance. We'd just get embarrassed. Time for a coaching staff change. Keep Hickey at GM. Let new HC hire his own OC and DC keep them in communication on all personnel decisions. Most of all. Get a coach with some f'ing backbone. A backbone and high football IQ. Is that too much to ask for in a Head Football Coach? Apparently it is.
The Brandon Gibson drop on the third or fourth drive that would have been a bigtime third down conversion was epically disastrous for us. I know it seems silly, but he makes that catch and we take the heart right out of their defense, the drive continues and we take a commanding lead. That drop...was the beginning of the end and I know some of us had to see that. Its mistakes like that, that really seem to deflate us. We aren't very resilient when things don't go our way. The defense continues to repeatedly choke when we have offenses in third and long situations i've noticed as well. With that said I expect to see the same misques occur up in Foxboro next week.
you got that right and we wont be in the playoffs untl we get some play makers at linebacker , cb, oline , and we need a big running back and wr who will go catch the damn ball.
Would you imply that the cheerleaders blew it for us this season? Or maybe it was the mascot...he did give Hartline a funny look on that TD pass.
I want to see how this team reacts to the challenge now that we are underdogs to making the playoffs.I want to see some emotion and sucking it up for the rest of the season.
If we made the playoffs, we wouldn't be playing like we have the past two weeks. So maybe we wouldn't get embarrassed.
How do you expect Dallas Thomas or Oline to react to 39 pass attempts compared to 16 runs? (8 of the runs were in the first Q.) Do we now expect RT to become A Rodgers all of a sudden? Depleted defense, no Delmas, no Finegan, Taylor, Davis, Misi banged up, how should they respond?
Yeah, but he failed. Like he's always failed. Unless we are striving to be mediocre here as the Fins franchise. Philbin has got to go.
how about the suck *** coaches? Until these bums are eradicated we go not where 42 yrs and counting - could wait a whole lifetime for a super-bowl at this rate I was three the last time we won it.
I don't expect us to win at New England, but I still think we go 9-7 with a chance to make the postseason provided we get some help.
It is amazing that anyone would think the one drop by Gibson was the reason the Dolphins lost this game. Good teams have plays go against them during a game too. They just don't let one or two negative plays destroy them for the remainder of the game. Obviuosly the drop hurt at the time it happened, but that isn't the reason the Dolphins defense basically turned into crap and allowed the Ravens offense to control the game after the first quarter ended. It also wasn't the reason the Dolphins offense was only able to score 3 points the rest of the game. The problem with this team is that it has a coaching staff which coaches scared. They coach more not to lose than to try and win games. Unfortunely the players have adopted this philosophy in their play and they just seem to lose their way when things don't go their way on the field. This team just doesn't seem to have the strong mental makeup to overcome the negative things which happen to every team during the course of a game. In close games against better teams, they collapse in the fourth quarter and never seem to make the plays needed to win the game. This team has consistently failed to get the job done under this coaching staff late in the season over the past three years. Much of this is the fault of the players, but it has become obvious that this head coach just can't get the best out of this team when the playoffs are on the line. Hopefully Ross sees the same thing most of us see and he is already putting together his list of possible head coaching candidates for the 2015 Dolphins. Three years is plenty of time in the NFL for a coach to show if he is the right man for the job or not. I think it is clear now that Philbin isn't the right man for the job, unless the job is to constantly put a mediocre team on the field, year after year.
Nobody said "we lost this game because Gibson couldn't make a catch"....I'm simply saying it was the beginning of the end of the game for us. I've already explained why making that catch and converting that third down would have been monumental towards us taking control of the momentum in the game. Again nobody said we lost because Gibson dropped the pass...Nice try.
Momentum definitely changed hands after that drop. Was it the reason we lost? Hell no, but if we kept possession on that drive and scored then who knows what might have happened the rest of the way. The REAL reason we lost was because we have an average football team right now and the Ravens are a better team thats much better coached. We had a stiff test of character and we failed miserably. Sounds all too familiar.
The problem is, the GM won't be picking the new coach, it will be the owner, who has shown time and again, he has zero football acumen, and even less football business acumen. I just hope he gets tired of the losing and sells to someone who knows the business.
I apologize if I grouped you into those who blamed Gibson's drop for being the reason the Dolphins lost the game yesterday. There were several members on this forum who actually felt that the dropped pass was the main reason the Dolphins ended up losing the game. While I agree it was a momentum change at the time. There was plenty of time left in the game for the Dolphins to overcome this one dropped pass and regain the momemtum. Instead as you noted, it appeared to be the beginning of the collapse by this entire team. On that issue, I will agree with you completely. I just don't agree with those few individuals who want to blame the loss of of this game on Gibson for failing to make that one catch.
I have Sunday Ticket and the Red Zone channel. So I watch many games, and I have never seen that penalty called this year. It was ridiculous.
10-6 still gets us in most likely with the results yesterday. It would be nice to go slap the crap out of NE with the season on the line but our injuries and staff are just too much to overcome IMO.
The Seahawks had a OL about 20 yards downfield yesterday on a passing play. Chip Kelly was yelling at a ref and pointing him out during the play. Wasn't called.
The biggest turning point to me was let them go 97 yard before the half. The biggest play of the game was in the 3rd going for it on 4-1 from the ravens own 34 and picking it up.We stop them there we reclaim the momentum and probally take the lead.
Hey.. We play the Patriots well. You know we are gonna win in NE. We are gonna beat Minnesota and have to play the ****in Jets to get into playoffs. We cant be that cursed are we.
Yea, I hope he enjoys seeing his team in the playoffs. I give Ohio State all the credit in the world for getting there with a third string QB, but the truth is they play in a lousy conference. As much as I can't stand Saban, the Tide is going to roll all over the Buckeyes in the Sugar Bowl. I think TCU and Baylor are both better than Ohio State, but that's what happens when you don't have a true playoff system in college football.
Thats exactly right, I was wondering if anyone else here saw that. Actually, I saw similar non-calls in various other games yesterday where it was clear there was an illegal man downfield. We got hosed on that call which negated an excellent pass/catch by Tanny and Wallace.Just adds to yesterdays frustration all the way around.
I don't know what drugs your doctor prescribes for you which keeps you so optimistic, but I would love to get the same prescription. Unfortunately my doctor only gives me pills which allows me to see the world from a realistic point of view. So realistically I just don't see the Dolphins beating the Patiots next week or making the playoffs this season.
I would love nothing more then for that last game to have playoff implications for us, but I just dont see it. This team screws with our emotions relentlessly so its only fitting that we beat N.E. next week to give us a glimmer of hope. False hope, but hope nonetheless. Cursed you ask? Certainly seems that way.
You are right JW..My favorite team is not Fl. State but it was embarrassing of the committee the way they treated the defending national Champions and winners of 29 games in a row..For a little while there I actually thought they were going to move them out of the top 4 with zero losses in 2 years!
As long as the Pats lose out and we win out, we're in. But then again, your chances of being struck by lightning 10 times in the same spot are much better.
What they did last year should have no impact. They deserve to be #4 honestly. They may not have lost a game but watching them week in and out you don't feel like you are watching an elite team. Winston has been pretty bad this year too.
Well...I guess time will tell..I wish our Canes played so horrible like State did and we could be undefeated as well..huh?
Golden is a terrible coach. Yet we along with 6-7 other teams almost beat them. They may beat Oregon....maybe. However I fully expect them to lose by threescores to Alabama or even Ohio State....though that one may be closer.. By something like 17 points to Alabama.
