RT @AdamSchefter: One NFL source convinced Raiders are the favorite to trade for HC Jim Harbaugh, but Jets also known to be keeping a close eye on situation.

Is Stephen Ross going to miss out on Harbaugh yet again? If we keep Philbin and the Jets get Harbaugh I think I would start vomiting uncontrollably.

btw if I'm Harbs I force SF to fire me, that way Niners get no compensation for him, he gets paid for the final year of his deal, and he's free to go to any team.

Yes please, let Jets get him, so that Joe can kick his arse twice a year.

Watch the Jets trade for RG3 too and not have any picks this year.

I doubt that, I mean he can barely beat Rex Ryan, even with a playoff berth on the line he **** the bed lol.

Last thing I want is Jim Harbaugh in the division coaching against the Dolphins. That would be a punch in the gut.

Not convinced about Oakland. I don't think they'll pay him.

I think he's Oakland bound, Jim Harbaugh will sign the richest contract in NFL history as a head coach.

I think the Raiders get Harbaugh, then trade for RG3, before moving operations to LA.

You are correct, Harbaugh is no Rex Ryan. Harbaugh actually knows how to coach both sides of the ball, while Ryan has shown in his time with the Jets that he is all about the defense and he has no clue when it comes to the offensive side of the ball.

I would love for Harbaugh to be the Dolphins head coach next year if the Dolphins don't finish at least 10-6 this year. If he doesn't come to Miami, I would prefer he go anywhere except to the Jets. He is the type of head coach who will come in and turn the Jets into a playoff contender in a very short period of time.

Personally I would take Harbaugh over Philbin any day of the week as an NFL head coach. I think Harbaugh is a top 5 HC, while Philbin is no better than a middle of the pack HC.

lol... so Philbin isn't just better than Belichick, he is better than both Belichick and Harbaugh now.

Is there any coach in the NFL better than Philbin in your opinion?

3 straight title games = not being able to coach anything? I guess I want a coach that can't coach now. Go figure.

Good point. He got rid of there better QB in Smith too and payed Kappernicker billions to stay. I knew it would backfire but didn't think it would happen so quickly.

another nightmare scenario for us would be if we kept Philbin while the Jets hired Tom Gamble as GM and Lazor as HC, they worked together in Philly, the well sourced NFLDraftBites twitter account has speculated those two could be paired together with the Jets next year.

    Harbaugh needs to coach Michigan.

Considering Philbin doesn't bring anything to the table, I'd jettison him if it meant keeping Harbaugh away form the Jets.

I forgot, you prefer those coaches who can consistently lead their team to mediocre records, year after year.

So obviously you would have no interest in a head coach who consistently takes his team to the playoffs.

I may be mistaken but I believe it was the GM of the 49ers who decided to sign Kappernick to that huge contract. It was signed this past off season when there were already rumors that Harbaugh would be gone after this season.

It was obviously the front office which wanted Kappernick over the long term, since it was clear Harbaugh wasn't going to be with the 49ers over the long term.

If you're trading for Harbaugh you're talking a first round pick or two plus additional high picks over several years. It's expensive, and I'm not sure he's the most desirable option to me with that in mind.

Jesus Christ could coach the Jets and it won't make a difference, as they stand right now. The team has no QB, a terrible OL and very little talent on the team. At best they are 2 years away from maybe being a .500 team. I don't care whee Harbaugh goes. My only concern is this team fixing their area of concerns and getting over the mediocre hump. IMO they are there, I don't know if Philbin can get them there, but Harbaugh has no bearing on it

The 49ers negotiated a trade of Harbaugh to Cleveland for somewhere in the neighborhood of a 3rd round pick. Harbaugh nixed it. It would be shocking if a year later after a subpar year with all these rumors of players not liking him anymore, suddenly Harbaugh's price tag goes to 1st round-plus.

He will be traded for a reasonable price. What matters is where he wants to go, and who wants him. There are conflicting sources on that. Some who claim to be close to people that are close to Harbaugh have claimed his wife will not leave Palo Alto. Recently one of the nationals, might have been Jason La Canfora, said the same. On the other hand we have solidly placed sources saying his wife has no such requirements other than her not being fond of cold weather.

There is a pretty strong belief among some NFL people that Mark Davis will not pay Harbaugh what he wants to be paid. So that goes in Miami's favor. Just how much money (not to mention the poor career prospects that come with Oakland's management & roster) is Mrs. Harbaugh willing to sacrifice just to stay in Palo Alto?

On the other hand, you have the Dolphins at 6-5 and in the playoff hunt. So Steve Ross is very much in that mindset. This is not a time to be looking at other coaches which would inevitably signal people that you're ready to give up on Philbin. And if the Dolphins keep winning, that mindset will continue. By the time we reach a point where Ross is willing to risk dangerous signals, will it be too late?

Game theory says that Harbaugh should go for little compensation. He has a lot of influence over the process, and he's essentially having his future assets put on the table in exchange for himself.

I don't think York outbidded Ross though, if Ross wanted Harbaugh a few years ago, there was no way York would have outbidded him and even Harbaugh knew that. But he chose the 49ers anyways.

I don't think Harbaugh is going to be in any kind of hurry, so that's one thing that Ross can't screw up this time, IMO. This team deserves to finish the season free of any "who's going to be the coach" drama.

One potential positive is the fact that Oakland got slaughtered 52-0 today. That could really tip them toward being willing to pay. Harbaugh doesn't move until after the season is over. If the Niners make the playoffs over Detroit then that does give us more of a chance in the event that Oakland withdraws interest.

I think the wildcard no one is talking about is the Giants. I still think its Oakland but the Giants with all that talent will tempt Harbaugh.

honestly I think that relationship between coach and front office has soured to the point where they either fire him or he resigns, a trade won't be that easy to pull off, if the best draft pick is offered by a team that Harbaugh has no desire to coach, well then there goes that potential deal.

I'd rather not have Harbaugh in the division. I hope he goes to oakland. He will turn any team he goes to around. But eventually his personality wears on people and things go south, but not before building solid teams.

What are the chances that the Giants enter the mix? You'd have to think that Coughlin is going to retire and there is some talent on that roster. Would be an East Coast team that plays in some cold weather though, if what they say about his wife (which I just find ridiculous) is true then maybe its not a possibility but they'd be a team that I would think is considering coaching changes.
