Hope we get a decent deal for him. If Washington needs him that bad then Miami should make them pay for what he's worth.

Thoughts on getting a body back for him, or would most just prefer draft picks? If picks, what round(s)?

Even as a guy who believes that Jason Taylor is still a very good player and would make this team better, I'd be all for trading him. I just think a complete changing of the guard would be nice. If we can get good value for him, then let's do it.

Why would jason taylor go play for the skins, doesn't he want to play for a contender?

Granted, they haven't been great but they have made the playoffs the last couple of seasons.

Definitely not what I wanna hear. The Skins are the local team here and even though I'd want JT to win, I loathe the Skins and having them win would piss me off.

On the flip side, I'm a bigger ZT fan and will be rooting for Dallas this year. I don't really like the Cowboys but I'd rather then win then Washington

The price for him is a late first/early second rounder. That's what I'm asking for. I would only accept draft picks unless they were to give me a young, upcoming player that could help us such as Carlos Rogers but that will never happen. Draft picks is the way to go imo.

I think the real question is would he try to block this trade by not showing up?

I wouldn't be surprised if he did do that. Washington isn't exactly a contender and they have a new coach.

I am not 100% sure what picks the Skins have for 2009 draft...they had been trading so many futures away recently.

I would think 2nd and 6th is about right.

I'll believe it (trade) when I see it. There has been way too much speculation this offseason and I don't want to get my hopes up yet again.

I think they have all of them as of now. This past draft, they had one in every round but the first one. I don't think they would give up multiple draft picks for a guy who won't put them over the top. I would look for them to give us a second rounder if the trade were to happen. However, it is Dan Snyder doing this and he always finds a way to screw up his team.

The Redskins went 9-7 last year and finished the year with 4 straight victories, including an impressive 22-10 victory over the team that went on to win the Super Bowl 6 games later. They have a high octane offense that features high talent veterans that are still playing well; Chris Samuels, Pete Kendall, Casey Rabach, Randy Thomas, Jon Jansen. Their WRs are loaded with talent and speed from Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El to second round draft picks Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. They have two TEs that should be the envy of the league in Chris Cooley and Fred Davis. The man under center will be a first round quarterback Jason Campbell that they have the utmost confidence in, heading into his fourth season as a pro when he should be ready to play as well as he's ever going to play. Commanding the troops is Jim Zorn, a guy they obviously believe to be the right hire, whether that ends up true or not...an offensive mind, a quarterback guru.

They have corners in Carlos Rogers, Shawn Springs and Fred Smoot. They have a safety in LaRon Landry they believe will be a Pro Bowl player in 2008. They have Marcus Washington, London Fletcher and Rocky McIntosh at the LB positions. Cornelius Griffin at DT.

Why, oh why, should we of all teams start talking smack about the Redskins' chances? They're one of many teams that could have a few balls bounce their way, go on a hot streak, and bam they're the World Champs.

A second from the Skins and it is a done deal for me. Chances are this is JT's last year with us no matter what happens, and depending on what he has on the back burner in Hollywood it could be his last year period. I would think most teams know this and a 2nd would about the best you could expect for a player on the decline and maybe for a 1 year rental. A 3rd and a 6th would also work for me.

Yeah well almost...We might hold most of the cards against the Skins and working out good compensation for him, but JT still holds the bottom line on this...does he think Washington is close enough for him ?? He's doesn't play the same side as Phillips and Carter did pretty well on the right side last season ?? How would that work ?? Will he restructure his contract since he supposedly doesn't plan on playing more than one more year ?? JT hadn't declared that this would be his last year as of draft day as we now know his wish is...??

It looks like every time a DE goes down somewhere, JT will be linked to that team...and perhaps the Skins really are negotiating with the Fins for him, but there are certainly a lot of pitfalls in any deal that could be worked out...

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next couple of days. The skins have a pretty darn good chance of going pretty deep in the playoffs this year. They have some damn talented players on that roster. JT would be a great addition to their D. If we could get a 2nd and a 4th or 5th. Id be thrilled. Id hate to see him go... but a 2nd and a 4th(or a 5th) for a guy who's probably only going to play another year or two at the most... is a pretty good deal for our rebuilding project i think.

Just the fact that Daniels goes down in the morning and the first player they inquire about is Taylor tells you that Taylor is very likely to be gone before the start of the regular season. That "talks are underway" tells you that Miami is still very much looking to get him out of town.

Having yet another team desperate for a DE will only help increase the market for Taylor.

I'd say a conditional 2nd should do it. If the Redskins go deep into the playoffs maybe it could upgrade to their low 1st. And if Taylor doesn't hit certain statistical incentives maybe it goes down to a 3rd.

The Redskins won't be the last team that suddenly needs a DE before the trade deadline.

Yes, and No. I agree with what you are saying, but I think its more market related than JT specifically.

With Snyder and Skins, if this was Campbell that went down and not Daniels, you can bet your bottom dollar the name being discussed would be Farve in that instance.

So its all relative, known players that are unhappy, vocal, and hopefully would be receptive to a move, etc, and a position of need, etc.

Apparently now there are two DEs down in Washington...

PFT links the Washington Post which reports that Alex Buzzbee also went down with a leg injury...

Maybe Im just being optimistic, but I dont think that Washington would tip its hat if they were in talks with us anyway. The more interest for a player, the higher the price tag can often be because of competitive bidding.

I also see that Smoot just got hurt in camp too. Man thats a rough beginning to TC,

Excellent news, this will make those NFC east games with the Cowboys and Giants all the more interesting if it comes off.

I think we definitely got the better part of the deal. Lets just hope JT is willing to pack his tutus and slippers...:yahoo:

Their secondary is the definition of depleted right now. They have Springs banged up, Rogers on the PuP list and now Smoot down. Their only good player back there right now is LaRon Landry.
