JT doesnt realize who he is dealing with. The Parcells philosophy is bigger than any player. That is the MAIN principle of his philosophy. I dont know what makes JT think he can get anything good from holding out. Maybe we can just trade him to GB for Brett, then we both bench them and laugh at them behind their backs.

What do you think his teammates will think when he basically says "you guys aren't good enough for me"?

Jason has always been fiery, but we never credited him with being the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I think he'll be there at the begining of training camp. I think he's just trying to prove a point and tick Bill off.

Parcells did nothing to LT when he held out of all of training camp. In fact, they won a super bowl with him. 1990. JT and other star players know this. It's an unfortunate fact of the NFL with star players.

"About time you made it back." Players stick with players through and through. He was just partying with Matt Roth (see the other thread). The players know, it's them vs. the FO/Owners. It's all business. You hear these cliche's all the time. It's maneuvering etc.

That would certainly be a valid argument if JT is holding out for more money or job security. But he is holding out because he doesnt think the other 52 guys int he locker room are good enough to win a Super Bowl.

i'll look it up, but i saw the quote "you can always do that, too" attributed to taylor in reference to a question about retiring. so i think a lot of these little pieces are being patched together to make stories out of soundbites from that one interview.

let's not assume he's holding out until he's actually holding out. then, if/when he's actually holding out, we'll only experience the aggravation of the holdout once. as it stands now, many of us are getting worked up, as if he's already holding out, when that may or may not happen. so we're "experiencing" the holdout whether it happens or not. just sayin'.

remember the good old days, when we wouldn't have heard anything about anyone in the offseason and didn't have the opportunity for this aggravation?

The longer this drama continues the longer both sides look bad imo!

I do not see how JT has the upper hand. Yes he can retire but he also just leaves 8 million lay on the table.. He can also choose to sit out but that is just as bad and maybe even worse for him because of the fines he will accrue..

The Dolphins need JT but at this point don't need all the headaces he keeps creating when he talks to the media. I have a feeling that this will all come to a head before the regular season begins.

    It has to!

    ... I can't say i disagree with him

I think he just doesn't want to work out. I'm so used to that with veterans, meh.

Thats fine from a fan's point of view. But if you are putting yourself on the line every week, that is not what you want the guy next to you thinking.

And it completely compromises the mentality that is trying to be established. Every player on the team should be thinking that we have just as much of a shot to win a SB as any other team.

Frankly at this point I hope Parcells finds a way to teach this bum a lesson. I am so tired of this jerk I really want to see hm be taught how he is not the end all and be all of this team. I wouldn't mind it if Parcells made him sit on the bench, just to take his pretty *** down a peg or two. Really fed up with him, and yet he thinks we would actually pay money to see him ACT? Not a chance.

As much as I disagree with what Jason has done this off-season, I hope Sparano, the coach, doesn't sit him. We clearly need his help this season.

Depends how he is playing. He declined a lot between 06 and 07, if he has the same type of drop-off this year, he wont be very valuable to us.

He didn't decline that much between 06 and 07. In 06, he put up 60 tackles, 13.5 sacks and one interception compared to 56 tackles, 11 sacks and one interception in 07. The only thing that really stood out was his pass deflections. He had 8 in 06 compared to 4 in 07.

I'd gladly take the either years statistics this year.

how do the Dolphins look bad? they have made every effort within reason, to ship his butt out to a contender. they have stated their position and have not budged. the only one looking bad is JT trying to get his way while looking "good" for his fans. it's all JT right now.

I'm to the point where I don't know what to think or believe. I'm tempted to not believe any thing the fo, press, or JT says anymore. I doubt we'll ever know the truth behind any of this mess. I'm also to the point where I don't care what qb we use, as long as, we start winning.
I was never fortunate enough before I joined here to know about all the melodrama that goes on in the off season. So, thanks to all of you, I don't have to watch soaps etc. to be entertained. :sidelol:

I just saw the interview on ESPN. His next to last statement to Ed Werder was "I want to win - being 1-15 and almost going 0-16 isn't acceptable." This seems telling to me.

Because everyone knows how the Tuna operates.. It has been well documented time and time again that when Parcells takes over a team he immediately singles out the leaders or leader in the lockerroom and instills that it is HIS way or the highway..

So you really believe that the Dolphin f-o has no blame in this stand off and that the responsibility of this circus ALL falls on JT's shoulders?

Both are to blame equally in this pissing contest .. You really think that Parcells excuse for not acknowledging JT when he came into camp is because he didn't have his hearing aids in is a fact?

so what exactly has the Tuna done to single "the leader" of this team out? seriously. i'm not saying that the FO is ever without any blame, they are running a business. however, you are saying that based on Parcells past that he does things. what has he done? the two never even spoke until this summer. Ireland and Sparano have been very amenable to JT. JT is the one that has really hurt his value for trade if that is truly what he wants.

if the FO was really out of line in it's dealing with JT, i'd be right there with ya yelling "foul!". but the only one making a mess of this is JT.:pity:

Just completely disagree D1 to your views!

"what has he done? the two never even spoke until this summer." I have already given you one example of how Parcells has handled this..Do you think that when Parcells made the statement 'if Jason Taylor wants to play this season he will be a Miami Dolphin" that he was trying to be helpful to JT?

"Ireland and Sparano have been very amenable to JT." And this means what? Do you think that JT hasn't reciprocated the same way to them?

As we have discussed countless times before,, I do not condoned some of JT's offseason antics but to paint this situation as being entirely Taylors fault is someone looking at it through a pair of Parcells rose colored glasses..:pity:

Parcells is the VP of the team. if he never speaks to any of the players, it means nothing. Parcells has stated that, and keeps refering back to Ireland and Sparano as the leaders of this team. Ireland and Sparano have kept an open door for JT and he continues to avoid it. you still have not given me an example of what this FO, created by Parcells, has done to alienate JT besides not trade him for little or no value. Parcells comment about playing or retiring was made after initial attempts to accommodate Mr. Taylor's desire to play elsewhere were unable to get fair value, as Mr. Taylor stipulated the team should. as for the so-called snub, if JT is upset because of that, then maybe he should stick to selling neutrogina products instead of playing football.

JT has been so amenable to the FO that he is non committed about even attending TC. both Sparano and Ireland have made public statements stating that they were excited to get JT into camp. i just don't see how, in this case, the FO is so out of line that this situation is their fault. they could trade him for less than value and even release him. both are bad moves and i agree with the philosophy, regardless if it Parcells or any other person. at this time, the only way this goes away and looks good for JT is if he shows up day one to TC and genuinely works to play on this team, just like every other player.

this is less about me and Parcells "rose colored glasses" and more about your dislike for Parcells. like him or not, he is ours and i believe he has put together a very good staff.
