Couldn't stop the run or get to Winston all night.

    Backbreaking fumbles (mainly Dobard's).

The tipped TD pass was BS.

Also for the most part I didn't mind them running the ball on 1st down. They kept on gaining 5 yards each time. Btw I thought that O'Leary incompletion was a fumble. Oh well.

I'm still done with Golden. 4 years and not one signature win.

Kaaya was still good too. I just can't see this team taking the next step with the way the defensive line engages with two hands tied behind their back.

For me personally, as a FSU fan, I'll root for anyone in the state but Florida. Hate everything about the Gators. I like the Canes when we're not playing them. I just grew up with Noles in my family and naturally gravitated towards them. But UM is a respectable team. I like our little brothers too UCF, USF and FIU. I love watching big games between FSU and UM every year though. Today's game was another classic.

I'm glad we didn't get our asses handed to us necessarily, but we gave up the lead and had a few things come back to haunt us (blocked extra point and a missed field goal). I was very surprised that we had such a big lead in the first half, and then was reminded of FSU's 'come from behind' wins this season, and they did it again. Kayaa handled himself very well for his first big rivalry game, and I think he'll only get better. Good game and a great win Noles fans, see you next year. :theu:

Kaaya played well enough to win this game. He made the throws and then some.

    Dropped TDs are inexcusable.

Yep..even his incompletions were great throws mostly. Hell in the second half the balls he had batted at the line were all easy completions too.

I don't follow Miami much in college, but you guys went ultra conservative in the second half. It is almost like Al Golden decided that he simply wanted to protect the lead he had at half time. My impression right now is that you guys have a talented team that isn't coached very well. Player development has been an issue at Miami seemingly since Larry Coker lost all of Butch Davis's players.

I also question the overall conditioning of the team when you have players that are cramping up. When you practice in this heat on a daily basis, you shouldn't be cramping up.

They're a hassle to watch most times. And what's worse is that Golden is practically guaranteed to be back next season. More of the same crap.

I love Al Golden personally. What he has done with the sanctions is nothing short of amazing. We've had less scholarships than most teams and he's still building something special. I hate our DC....no doubt and Golden has tied himself to that which -IS- an issue to me.

However come on...look at this season. Our only bad loss is Georgia Tech. With a true freshman QB we lost on the road opening day. That is expected. We lost on the road in front of 90,000 screaming fans and actually almost took that game. We lost to Florida State who is the #3 team in the country and played them harder than ANYONE except MAYBE Notre Dame. We put the fear of god into that team with a true freshman.

Next season with Winston gone, Kaaya having a year under his belt and so forward we are going to take the ACC and play a major bowl game. If we don't...THEN let's talk firing.

    Just my 2 cents.

We will never win a champioship with Golden..inhate to say it but it is True.Another great clean game between the 2 teams. We could have easily won this game. Also, DJ I do not again want to talk about our "lousy venue" for Dolphin games...we keep playing great ball and the Stadium actually filled to capacity like last nights game and as I.stated in the past it becomes VERY LOUD.

Golden's a very conservative defensive-minded coach. Never been much of a fan of them (Wanny) because they get a lead and just sit on it, and hope the defense can keep the team ahead. Sooner or later you have to start playing offense again, but like last night it was too little too late. You can't wait until midway through the 4th quarter to start airing the ball out again.

I think we will win one with Golden if he gets the time. Its not his fault we fumbled twice and that Braxton dropped a TD pass...or that we missed a chip shot FG and had a PAT blocked.

I'm down for getting rI'd of Mark Dingusfrio though.

Yes, with a great DC he might be able to get one but I was talking "as is" I know Braxton's drop was a killer and would end up costing us the game..Kaaya threw a perfect pass and the receiver had no business jumping for the darn ball..no need to let alone the horrible kicker miscues..And as far as swagger I have been a Canes fan for alot of years....Long before they had any "swagger" or Championships.

For me...the bottom line is he gets next season to win the ACC. It was an extremely improbable road from the start for us this year so I can't blame him. I think he's done a pretty damn good job all things considered.

However if we don't win the ACC Coastal next season I'd be down to fire him.

We're not winning the ACC next year if the defensive line plays patty cake every game. Doesn't matter how talented the players are, it is what they are taught.

    Yeah that was embarrassing.

That INT Kaaya threw late was all on the WR too. The guy just stood there and waited for the ball. If they score that drive they still have a legitimate chance (would have put us down by 8 with a conversion) instead we get some half assed effort.

Next season this team should be damn good with Kaaya, but some things NEED to change.

Another season of one step forward, two steps back. No consistency whatsoever. So damn frustrating to barely lose to an unbeaten team and then get worked by a mediocre one the following week. At the very least it would be nice to finish the season with a win at home against Pitt. :theu:

I don't think Golden is terrible. I think he makes terrible choices staff wise however. I'm not against firing Golden if we can get another coach who is better. However with our recent hiring history I'd guess the odds are we would do worse.

As an outsider looking in, I do not think Al Golden's style is effective at Miami. Philip Buchanon made a comment on twitter that Al does well when he has a bunch of overachievers, but you have to coach talented players differently than you coach overachievers. While that may not make sense to some, I can see what Philip is saying. I think a lot of it has to do with embracing the culture in South Florida.

Players from the South Florida area tend to have an edge to their game. Within that edge, there may be some showboating and flamboyance, not that it is a bad thing. For lack of a better term, the recruiting base doesn't have the type of blue collar guys that Al is used to getting from the Western Pennsylvania area. Al wants players who are no nonsense, and the recruiting base Miami is in has players who are very hard workers, but they play with an edge and want to have fun. IMO, this is why you have seen a lot of players from the Miami area leave the area.

What Miami needs is a coach that is going to get into the homes of those local players and essentially make it extremely difficult for anyone outside of the area to come in and get the top talent. I don't even think this person needs to be the best coach either. He just needs to be able to sell the program to the local talent, feed them what they want to hear, and recruit like a maven. He also needs to field himself a quality staff, because it is one thing to recruit the talent and get them there. It is another to develop that talent when you get them on campus. I think Miami has been lacking in the latter for years now.

    Thats fair.

When the team comes together behind him they look unstoppable. Unfortunately he doesn't get them pumped up for every game. They sleepwalk too much for a team that needs to prove themselves.

I absolutely think he's terrible. Even with the right coordinators, I think the conservatism and especially the defense, is all Golden. Kind of like how Florida fans got their hopes up when they hired Roper, and thought they would get a more up tempo offense. Nope. Muschamp was still the head coach and wanted Roper to run Muschamp's offense.

Al's biggest recruiting problem is he would rather go get some scrub 3 star from New Jersey that has "measureables" and "good character" than a talented 3 star in his own backyard that may be undersized. Guys like Skai Moore and James Burgess JR that wanted to be Hurricanes, and every single fan wanted them to be Hurricanes, not good enough for Al Golden though, and then they become studs elsewhere while the Jersey kid becomes the ultimate JAG. Louisville kicks our asses with a team full of low rated SoFLa players Golden didn't want.
