I decided to do a little research to see the Dolphins point totals by quarter- compares to our opponents.

    -----------------------1st.......... 2nd.........3rd........... 4th

    DOLPHINS------------30............ 60..........113............46 ( 249 )

    OPPONENTS----------43..............36...........41.............60 ( 180 )

Clearly the 3rd quarter is by far our best for scoring points. Is it because we usually defer to the 2nd half when we have that opportunity ? Even if that's the reason its still impressive because its no guarantee we`ll score on our first 2nd half possession. Or, is it because we do a hell of a job during halftime adjustments? I know some people think that half time adjustments are over-rated, but theres got to be a justifiable reason for us to come out after the half and put points on the board better than any other quarter. Personally I think the coaches do a hell of a job during halftime and make any adjustments necessary. Also, the third quarter is our second best for points allowed.

We obviously have to increase our 4th quarter output and if we do, we`ll be fine.

Side Note: Our defense hasn't given up a touchdown AT HOME in our last two games. 8 full quarters, not bad .

I believe against the Lions, the coverage flashed a stat that said we had scored more points in the opening drive of the third than anyone. We are also the best third-quarter scoring team, period. Plus, I feel like I recall a stat on Thursday saying we are also number one in second half scoring. (I think.)

Edit: okay I checked the stats. Our 3.0 average points in the first quarter ranks #28. Our 6.0 in the second ranks #22. The third quarter's 11.3 points is far and away #1. Our 4.6 in the fourth is #26. However, our 15.9 average second half points IS the best in the NFL.

That's very interesting. If we can somehow improve our first half scoring, we would flat out dominate all of our opponents.

On the defensive side of the ball, we are only allowing 7.9 points in the first half (#4), and 10.1 in the second (#9):
    Q1 4.3 (#17), Q2 3.6 (#2), Q3 4.1 (#11), Q4 6.0 (#9)

But some how that translates to 5th best in scoring defense on NFL.com, probably because we are one of only 2 teams that has played this week. After looking at it, we will most likely be 3rd in the league in scoring defense after this week plays out.

    Lions 142
    Chiefs 151
    Cardinals 170
    Browns 172
    Dolphins 180
