I was watching this guy in the Hawaii Bowl and he got 407 overall total yards. This guy has unreal speed. He might be worth taking a serious look at....here is a nice summary of Chris Johnson: Chris Johnson, 2008 NFL Draft Prospect Running Back 5' 11" 195 lbs. Speed: 4.39 Senior East Carolina Running back Chris Johnson will draw a lot of interest from NFL Scouts because of his versatility. He is kind of a hybrid player, half running back, half receiver. Johnson has nice size (5’ 11” 195 lbs) and blazing speed. He was clocked at 4.39 in the 40 yard dash in the spring. The NFL loves speedy running backs with great hands and that is exactly what Johnson is. This year (2007) after only eight games, to go along with his 672 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns, he also has caught 26 passes for 354 yards and another 4 touchdowns. He is comfortable lining up in the backfield, splitting out wide as a receiver or returning kicks and punts. I look for Johnson to get an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine where he should set the track on fire with his speed and athleticism. Last year (2006) as a junior, despite suffering a neck injury in the spring, he led his team in rushing for the 3rd consecutive year with 972 all-purpose yards: 314 rushing, 176 receiving and 482 on kickoff returns. He was selected to the First Team All-Conference USA team as a kick returner, where he ranked fourth among all Conference USA kick returners averaging 23 yards per kick return. In 2005 as a sophomore, he started all 11 games at running back and led his team in rushing with 684 yards on 176 carries and six rushing touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes for 356 yards. As a true freshman in 2004 he played in all 11 games and was selected to the Conference USA All-Freshman squad as a running back and kickoff return specialist. He was also selected as East Carolina’s "Outstanding Newcomer-of-the-Year” and he led the Pirates in rushing yards (561), kickoff return yards (765) and all-purpose yards (1,562). He set a total of eight ECU freshman single game or single-season records. Coming out of high school Johnson was rated among the top 100 players in state of Florida by Super-Prep Magazine. Chris Johnson is also a weight room warrior, he recorded prep power numbers of 265 (clean-lift) and 315 (bench-press) and was timed at 10.62 in the 100-meter sprint. He ran the anchor leg on fastest 4x100 relay team in the nation and won the Golden South and Golden West national titles in track.

Remember the last time we drafted a RB from East Carolina who had 4.3 speed, good hands, half WR and half RB? His name was Jerris McPhail. He didn't quite work out.
I think this team has enough "fast" guys already. Now, if he can use that speed and play cornerback really well, he's worth a shot.

he won't be a dolphin ... we have other pressing needs: G, OT, WR, CB, DT, DE, OLB, man... kinda think of it we need everything except a center, a LT, a RB and a QB (that is if you believe in beck, like I do..)
I guess it depends on where he is selected. I wouldn't have a problem taking a guy that can help the offense score points late in the draft. Ronnie is a question mark healthwise so who knows how or when he will come back, Booker looks like he can be a playmaker and the rest may not be here next year.
I LOVE THIS PICK BUT NOT AS A RB. This huy should be converted to receiver. He catches well already. I think he would be unreal as a slot receiver and we may even be able to turn him into a number 2. I dont think he's nothing more than a change of pace back in the NFL ala Reggie Bush or Lorenzo Booker
This guy will be in the Senior Bowl where there is a chance they will try him at receiver. Should be an interesting Senior Bowl. Brian Brohm has announced he'll play
Love Chris Johnson! He currently has a 3rd round grade. We could do much worse with our 3rd round pick. Big time players step up in big games. Chris Johnson did that in the Hawaii Bowl. He's not a change of pace back, either. If Ronnie got hurt, Johnson could fill in for him just fine. Ricky Williams should be traded. If anybody is foolish enough to do so. Chatman is too injury-prone. (Ronnie may be, too.) Lorenzo Booker is our change of pace back. I like Cobbs and Gado, but I suspect Johnson is better than both of them. It's guys like Chris Johnson who give me pause in regards to drafting McFadden.
