Well...season two starts this week. This is as big a game as weve had in Miami in awhile..a chance to win three in a row..and gain an advantage over a team we will be fighting for a playoff spot with.. Comes down to...can we stop Rivers I believe..
I have doubts about our secondary. We should dominate the SD Oline, Wake should have a field day. SD has smallish front 7. Run game will be the key in beating SD. For us, it's always about pressure on QB and running the ball with our beastly Oline--those are the two strengths. I don't think SD is a bad match-up for us if Lazor runs a balanced offense.
San Diego has so many weapons and the offense didn't do good enough today against a bad secondary today. I'm very worried about this game.
I dont think they are any better really then Chicagos offense. Rivers isnt going to be anywhere but the pocket...and they really have no running game.
We have the talent to win out...we just dont always play to our talent. I actually feel very good about San Diego. They are one dimensional for the most part.
The offense didn't do bad against the secondary, IMHO...they did bad in pass pro, and didn't get the rushers on the edge enough though. Should have ran the ball much more IMO.
I think Miami can beat San Diego if you stop the run early and get a lead. Miami turning loose Wake, OV et al on Rivers is a matchup that favors Miami, IMO.
I thought they were overrated before the Chiefs game since their 3 wins before it were against 0 win JAX, 0 win OAK, 1 win NYJ. Then of course they lost to KC at home and DEN. Still need a complete performance but I don't trust SD going to the east coast (though they did win at BUF). They do have a few extra days of rest. Tough but must take it! Don't want to lose home games to AFC Wild Card contenders. Their offense is good but not better than GB or NE. No excuses...important game if you want to make the playoffs.
We were fine once we settled out our line issues. College had migraines..which really hurt his play....once we settled in with the line our offense was fine
1994. Playoffs. Dolphins at Chargers. The Super Bowl should have been ours. Up 3 scores at halftime. The "Cheating Chargers" turn the lights out in our locker room. I'll NEVER forget and NEVER forgive those cheating losers.
Pete Stoyanovich misses a 48 yard field goal at the end of the game after a MASTER performance by Marino to even get us in range with almost no time left...
Brian Hartline is officially a liability. Matthews has earned more snaps than he's getting. You hope Hartline turns it around, but you don't actively hurt your team by giving him so many snaps while you're hoping.
I said before the bears game we would win three in a row for a reason..this game will be the third, but, I hope the fans show up..But if they don't, it will only be that much harder to win.
Season 2 ? The second half of our season will commence after this, our 8th game. Win and we're 5-3 (4-1 after 1-2 start). It will put us on as good a pace as anyone in the Afc, aside from just NE,DEN, & Cincy. There are however over a handful of 5-3 teams as of right now, with a week of rest still ahead of them. It's clearly going to come down to tiebreakers again in the AFC, and SD will surely be in the hunt. This is the start of the toughest month in our schedule, the toughest 4 game stretch period. Losing this would be devastating..we'd still be at 500. but you cant expect us to finish 6-2 with trips to Denver,New England, visits from Buffalo and Baltimore, and we still have to play the jets twice! I feel we matchup extremely well against SD, we beat them last year and have improved much more than they have since then. I heard they havent won in Miami in 32 years, but thats hard to believe!
We lose this one. We're heading in the right direction but we're still seeing too many mis-cues, mistakes, and vulnerable gaps. I'm utterly amazed and impressed by our new OL - Sat at C, rookie at RT, hole at LG - and yet they've been doing well. However, it's still our weak point, as well as some questionable QB and coaching decisions. At this point I think I'm alright with the direction we're heading and will be happy to see what can be done with a bit more time to get used to the offense and for Hickey to prove himself and bring in some more talent and depth. If Philbin makes more mistakes I'm curious about the possibility of promoting Lazor to HC and going from there. Getting back to it though, I expect a loss here, and a few more still to come. If we win then, for me, that will prove we really have become a better football team.
Jelani Jenkins is the theme this week for me. Our blossoming, young linebacker. He wears #53 and that's what I want next Sunday. 5-3.
The problem with that mindset is that their offense is never the reason we lose. It's their defense that wreaks havoc and causes headaches for us.
The goal should be 3-1 each quarter which gets us to 11 on the season, which means we need this one and the Lions game. Pull that off and the Broncos game could be for the number 1 seed.
Without Jackson and Spliller its Buffalo who needs to worry about moving the ball. Could be one of those 6-8 sack games unless Orton wants to chuck it up for grabs, then it could be one of those 3-5 INT games.
will there be a sell out? if there is I guarantee you we will win, if not then the culture is part of the futility.
Yep that defensive line OWNS our offensive line, I mean we cannot even breath on offense when we play them. I'm not sure why they are so dominant against us, I mean they are good but they look like the best defense in the history of the league when they play us.
Anyone else pissed off that this is the second time this year that the Dolphins have a tough opponent coming to Sunlife that get the extra long week after a Thursday game? Green Bay played the Thursday Night game before coming to Miami too.
The worst part was the first two series, and there is a good explanation for why Colledge played poorly. He wanted to keep his league leading streak of starting consecutive games. It was selfish but not unexpected. The offensive line is still the weakness.
The Jags have a decent 4 man front. That kept them in the game but ultimately the better team prevailed. A football game isn't 30 minutes long. The Jags were a non-factor on both sides of the ball for much of the second half. There was a drive that netted zero points in the fourth quarter where it appeared Tannehill was just showing off trying things he wouldn't normally. That drive ended with an INT of a deflection. They had no business throwing on that play and if they thought they didn't have the game locked up I'm guessing they wouldn't have.
I was at that game..what a heart breaker!! Sorry kicker Uve Von Schoman cost us the game after an historic comeback from down 24-0
Beating Bills has little to do with stopping their offence. Remember something called Thad Lewis beat the Phins twice last year. That D-Line has dominated us the last 3 games. If the Phins are to win against B-Lo, Tanehill needs to be able to play "his" game and not be running for his life behind the line.
San Diego released Richard Marshall and signed ex-Redskin Richard Crawford. They're hurting at cornerback right now.
I think the worst loss for me was definitley the Super Bowl vs the 9ers. Second worst was 62-7 Jacksonville.
Megatron is supposed to be back after the lions bye which happens to be when we play them. This is the least important win to determine are playoff chances anyway. The two big games are the chargers and the bills.I feel we have to win both of these along with ravens game to get in the playoffs.11 TEAMS have winning records in the afc and it looks like its going to take at least 10-6 to get in and we need the tiebreakers.
