I felt the same way about signing Chad Pennington..absolutely hated him. Almost brought me to tears that he was a Dolphin. Turned out to be a very good player for us and very likable. That being said, Harbaugh is my most hated for the same reasons you noted. Hated him as much as a player and as a coach. But he is a winner and produces results. Would take him in a heartbeat, seriously, IN A HEARTBEAT!

2010 San Francisco 49ers finished 6-10. They were 24th in points scored and 16th in points allowed.

2011 San Francisco 49ers finished 13-3. They were 11th in points scored and 2nd in points allowed.

Did they change their QB? No. Did they have huge personnel changes across the board? No. Did they play a weaker schedule? Nope! So, what happened?

    Good coaching.

LOL, well up until 8 days ago many wouldn't have traded Tannehill for Russell Wilson. That's one of my favorites too

8 straight years without a playoff appearance prior to Harbaugh

.................................but it was the super talented roster. not the coach.

Oh, and Alex Smith had like 5 different coordinators prior to Harbaugh's arrival.

Dont worry by the end of the season you'll be happy you have Tannehill......

Whaaaa?....I still think he will be really good.

Oh I actually want to stay the course with him. I think he's the best shot we have at winning this year and next year (Hopefully with a Harbaugh arrival)

But to say you wouldn't trade him straight up for Russell Wilson is ludicrous. No other way around it.

None of any of this changes the fact, that Jim Harbaugh is a poopy-head. No thanks!

Ross likes a younger go getter. I wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh continues to be at the very top of his wish list.

And yes, 14 years without a playoff victory has been very tough. Real dark ages stuff for this franchise.

Yeh I would have to do it obviously....but I will say....Im not going to be shocked if when their careers are done....they will both have had very good NFL careers.

This is a real thing. I am glad you have not fallen into the "poopy-head contingency"

In a league full of rapists, man-slaughterers, violent domestic abusers, liars, cheaters, etc.... We don't want a guy because he is...a poopy-head.

As suggested by VT, let's just all write in to Steve Ross and let him know that if he manages to snag Jim Harbaugh we're gonna need him to set up a "My head coach wins a ton of games and possibly championships but I think he's a poopy head and I don't like that" support group.

He yells at officials and complains about not getting calls. We can't have that around these parts

EDIT: Sorry, I can't help myself. This is too easy

    Ok, say its Harbaugh.

    - Did we have to give him total control?
If so, who would he bring in? Many posters here said that's the wrong way to go about it, by forcing a coach on a gm. Who would sign up for working with Harbaugh as the "GM but not GM" knowing how difficult he is to work with especially for personnel people but this time with final say?

    - If he doesn't have total control....
Who do we bring in that could work with him? Does it even matter. do we believe he's good enough to take the worst GM in history's team plus a few players from Hickey and become contenders?

I don't thi k it would be too hard for Hickey to fall in line, if faced with going back to being Tampa bay's janitor for another 26 years.

Also, doesn't Jim have a close relationship with the guy from the Eagles, who's father was sick...The man many of us wanted originally for GM. His name escapes me.

Hickey seemingly has resolved Ireland's biggest failure (OL) in just one offseason. So yes, I believe he would do just fine with the roster in its current state. I'd have no problem with a Harbaugh/Hickey pairing.

Harbaugh is in my top 2 choices. He gets players to believe in what he's selling. Stanford and San Fran were mediocre before he got there. He turned them into winners. I don't care if he's too intense. Hell, that's 50% of why I like him.

Wasn't I told forcing a coach on the GM was the reason all the GMs turned us down? That it was HUGE mistake and made Ross a joke?

Harbaugh might want total control in the sense that he wants to choose who makes up his staff and the front office, but final say could be dictated on who he chooses as GM. If it's a Michael Lombardi or Tom Gamble, two men he's worked with before, he might give it to them .

a ton of the current mediocre players would need to be replaced, but yes, I do.

The next step in this dance is for various players to go on record in defense of Harbaugh.

It's a dance, and we've seen it all before. You've got a lot of reporters trying to get out ahead of the story right now and that's why you're seeing stuff like this.

I think it's cheap how you guys are running with this 'poopy-head' crap, being insulting by attaching a childish phrase to those of us who think Harbaugh is a pompous jerk (which is infamously is). Honestly, it makes you guys look like a bunch of immature idiots.

Just for the record... I want my team to win. I just don't want to suck Satan's **** to make that happen. I have my standards. Harbaugh is beneath those standards, and I won't apologize for wanting the head coach of my favorite team to be a decent human being.

    Now, fist bump that. :wink2:

    Oh come on.

What evidence is there that Harbaugh is a bad human being? He is too intense for some people. So is Steve Ballmer. Who cares if they're succesful at the job you've hired them to do.

I think your opinion is epically lame, that you don't want a young proven winner at head coach because you "think" you know he is a pompous jerk... A POOPY HEAD. I think it is juvenile to prefer to see the team continue to fail because "you don't like da guy."

Never apologize for your opinion, no matter how terrible it is. It's is yours to do with as you please.

No, actually you changed my mind. I mean, he is sooo obnoxious and animated on that sideline!!! And the way he thinks of himself??? So tacky and overkill!

I would hate for such a human being to be our coach! Rice, Sandusky, Vick...Harbaugh! All animals !!! Death to Harbaugh and his major 'tude. Death to being relevant too. But I'd rather suck than have to stare at that big fat jerk in those khakis on all those winning Sundays.

I love how those who want Harbaugh somehow assume there is absolutely no other coach that could win here and he is the ONLY ONE.

I don't get how you infer that Jim Harbaugh is a bad person from the fact that Jim Harbaugh sometimes has hilariously petulant overreactions to bad calls against his team.
