Dude looked great out there today. Props to DT.

I hated this guy. I was gleeful when we cut him. I predicted he'd never play another snap in the NFL when we cut him. Happy to eat the crow.

Also, it's odd how he got cut, but got elevated to second string when he got resigned.

He had a few shining moments last season, so I was really on the fence about letting him go. Today, he was explosive on every down and aggressive whenever there was contact, so it's hard to ask for too much more. I'm glad we kept him.

At the same time, however, I think Williams will turn out to be something special. I love watching this kid run because he has it all; great speed, great cuts and he fights hard for yardage. I'm a fan of Darkwa too; he reminds me of a bowling ball. No matter what the play shows, he runs straight ahead and knocks down anything that gets in his way.

Pretty sure this isn't the Daniel Thomas that was cut 4 weeks ago. Dude looks like a completely different player. Hard cuts, pushing the pile, hitting the hole. He's been impressive

Yeah he was pretty good out there today. Hope he can keep it up, but if he does, which RB is going to be IR'd/cut?

If we can get a three-headed monster out of Moreno, Miller, and Thomas, I'll be a happy man.

That's because it's not true. Miller has been lights out since Moreno went down.

Its a good problem to have. When Moreno comes back, we can just plug in the fresh back and keep pounding the ball. Of course, I really can't figure out why that wasn't the game plan in the 3rd quarter today.

I'll hold off on giving him his due and eating some crow until he performs like that against a real NFL defense. He looks good so far, like a different player for sure, but I want to see him doing it against better teams.

Honestly not odd to me. In my opinion the staff probably thought he's currently better than Williams or Darkwa but thought with Moreno and Miller they could keep Williams/Darkwa and bank on the long term potential.

Didn't like Williams' vision much in preseason. Seemed to miss holes or hit the wrong ones, though always gave good effort. Things seem to have slowed down for him, and he is making better decisions with each passing week. I wonder if seeing how fanatical Moreno was about fighting for yards made an impression on DW.

Brilliant. A guy has a terrible three year career, suddenly jumps up and has a 60 yard, 0 touchdown performance against a defense that made mistakes even a high school defense wouldn't have made, and it's crow eating time.

My bad! I can't believe how wrong I was about Daniel Thomas! He's awesome!

I'll give him credit for playing hard - like a guy trying to stick on a roster, but wasn't impressed with his runs so much as his actual effort.

Would you be happier if we lost and the run game stunk? If so, I believe that there's a Jets forum or two for that.

The original poster didn't tell you to eat crow....he said he was eating crow for doubting him. That's called his opinion, and he is more than entitled to it. Just like my opinion was that people who don't read people's comments, but attack them anyway, would be more comfortable over in Jet Nation. These are called o-p-i-n-i-o-n-s and they are why people post on forums.

If the OP wants to eat crow, that is up to him. I didn't notice him insisting anyone else among Daniel Thomas's critics do the same.

He's here because of injuries to the guys brought in to replace him, and also because Dennis Hickey hates LaMichael James and Lache Seastrunk for some reason.

  32. MrClean

I think it is an exaggeration to say Hickey hates James. He may not be fond of Seastrunk off the field, but seems like most of the league has some of the same concerns. If it looks like Moreno will be back in 2 weeks, we may see James get signed and Thomas cut, or Darkwa moved to PS if he clears waivers. Thomas was signed as the fill in mainly because he knows the playbook, not because Hickey thinks he is the most gifted runner between he, James and Seastrunk.

Thomas has never blocked well. Somebody said it once and it stuck but it's not true. As a receiver, he hasn't had nearly the impact people would like to believe. Thomas's best year as a receiver was 156 yards. Miller's was 170. Thomas doesn't excel at anything, at least Miller is fast.

  34. CaribPhin

Daniel Thomas had a 10 yard run in what I think was the third quarter. It was the worst 10 yard run I have ever seen. He looked like an early stage robot trying to mimic human movement. He was barely touched, broke 0 tackles, and still made it look like the toughest run ever. He looked so labored and slow that by the time he got to the first down mark I expected him to pass out from exhaustion. That was a 20 yard gain that Thomas turned into a 10 yarder. We need to remember both the competition played as well as the fact that everyone was really happy when the game was going on.

While it doesn't change his past, he seems to fit better in this offense. He's playing with more fire and while it isn't anything earth shattering, he has looked capable so far.

    I remember that run.

I was texting back and forth with Boomer during the game and my exact comments to him were that Daniel Thomas looks even more sluggish than usual.

Now you probably won't get many people to agree with us because they see the results and the yards gained. But that's football. I remember watching Peyton Hillis during the preseason with the Giants. He looked so slow he could've been an athletic offensive lineman trying to take carries. But he broke out a big run because of a defensive mistake. So here I am tweeting about how embarrassingly slow the guy looked in this game, while someone else, a high profile draft guy for B/R, is tweeting about how Hillis looks explosive again. That's football, we all see things differently.

  37. MrClean

That was the second of back to back runs as I recall? If so, on the first run, when he got tackled, he had one leg forward and one leg backwards, and it looked like he may have strained his glute or something close. When he got another carry right after that he seemed to run ten yards and fall down, and I took it as it being due to something that happened to him on the first run.

We finally have a good Oline and a good OL coach. This OL needs to get and stay physical in the game with the run game. It's a shame Lazor took them out of the game against the Bills and the Chiefs.

RBs are running hard, but they are not game breakers. We don't have game breakers at any spot. I'm content with that, but let's not give the RBs more credit than they deserve. They played to the scheme and ran hard, but not exceptionally well.

Injuries brought him back, yes, but for those asking why hes out there instead of Williams/Darkwas, it's because he can catch and do something with it. At rb he's pedestrian but he's actually a solid receiving threat.

Millers atrocious hands played a role in the Buffalo game and Im not surprised we immediately went back to Thomas after that game.

If miller could catch, thomas wouldn't be here.
