Hey all! Want to give you another perspective from a Bills fan. As you can imagine we are extremely excited for this game. It feels like both of our teams are moving in the right directions and both teams know the importance of picking up a win here. By the way thanks for beating the Pats, though I feel you guys are better setup to take them out than us (match up-wise). I no longer live in Buffalo, but go back for the home opener every year for a family tradition. I expect this Sunday to be one of the craziest games Ive been to. Every Bills fan has had a worry in the back of our heads about this team leaving, and we finally can put that to rest. In the last week we found out that Jim Kelly is currently cancer-free, will be having a tribute to our late owner Ralph Wilson, were bought by Terry Pegula who will keep the team in Buffalo, and won our opener, which frankly many didnt see coming. As far as our team goes, it's pretty obvious what they want to do. They want to be able to run at will, and use EJ to manage the game. I think of Roethlisberger's rookie season, as an example. From a game plan perspective, Miami must stop the run, if not that's trouble. If you stop the run and we have to rely on EJ, or if you get ahead and force us to throw, Im not comfortable with that, especially with Wake working our talented rookie right tackle (who I think will become a force at some point). Our team is MUCH better at stopping the run this year, Scwartz, and Brandon Spike help us alot here. I think we are weaker in the pass rush and pass defense that you guys think. I know what we did to you guys last year, but Pettine is gone, and our D doesnt seem to have the same search and destroy feel to it. Also, our secondary is suspect. Byrd is gone (though I dont see it as the problem some seem to), McKelvin is sketchy as hell, the Phins should look to target him. We are missing Kiko, and while I dont think it impacts our run d much, it affects our pass d, alot. Kiko is great in coverage. Though we do get Nigel Bradham back this week from suspension and he seems to thrive in these 4-3 d's that we are running. You guys should be looking to throw the ball quite a bit and challenge our secondary, yes that will depend on how you oline stands up to the pass rush, but again I think we are more vanilla this year from that standpoint. On O, we will go where our Rb's take us. Our TE's suck, and I mean suck. Our wr core is much better, with Watkins, Mike Williams (gives us a bigger target who can go up and get the ball), and Robert Woods is very underrated. The Oline is very new and needs time to come together, I wish Wake was going up against Glenn, Id feel much better about it. I dont like our guards at all. Ej looked better against the Bears than I expected, but the Bears D is pretty bad too. I look at this game as a better measurement for Ej, now that I think about it I dont think EJ played in the Phins games last year. Best of luck to you guys, these are exciting times, I feel like these games finally mean something to the both of us. I am so sick and tired of this division being ruled by the same team over and over again. Of course I root for the Bills, but I just want somebody other than the pats to win the division, but I hate the Jets, so if it isnt us, it has to be you. Praying for no injuries to either squad as well! See you Sunday!
Welcome and thanks for the post. We encourage fans of other teams who aren't just into smack talk to stick around and enjoy the site even after the games. We have a few fans of other teams who enjoy the non-Dolphin related portions of the site and are solid contributors. I think the points you made are pretty valid. I'm not a fan of EJ but I think you guys would be a damn tough team to beat week in and week out with a better QB. Maybe EJ proves me wrong.
Great Post and welcome. My favorite scenario for AFC would be Phins and Bills up top with Jets and Pats groveling in the mud, fighting over #1 draft picks. Frankly, that's the way the division should be, just like the Kelly/Marino years.
Im telling ya....I gotta say and its not even close...for the overall number of Bills fans who have shown up to this forum...to come with class and just great football talk, Im impressed.
Always starts this way. let's see if it's the same tune if we blow the doors down and get a few calls our way.
Honestly, even if we lose it will be a great day. With us finally knowing who the owner is and having the final goodbye to Ralph in front of the crowd, a win would just be a cherry on top, I dont think any true Bills fan would let a loss, even a bad one, overshadow the importance of Sunday.
Congrats to Kelly for kicking Cancer's ***. I see a lot of similarities between Miami and Buffalo, especially offensively. Should be an interesting game. I am definitely concerned with your guys running game with all the hits we've taken on our front 7.
Yeah theyve been through alot, even before with their son Hunter. Its weird in Buffalo Jim is like a symbol of the city of Buffalo, no matter how bad crap seems, you just keeping moving ahead.
I feel the same way, but you guys def. seem to handle the Pats better than us. I feel like your QB situation is a little more stable right now, because we really dont know what we have with Ej yet, I think he only has 10 games under his belt. He does seem to do well in crunch time though, He doesnt shrink when we need him the most, which has me cautiously optimistic. I read a stat I think from PFF, showing his QB rating was like almost 90 with time in the pocket, and 0.6 when pressured, thats a huge difference, and why Wake scares me.

Have loads more respect for the Bills than the other 2 opponents in the division. I'll never forget the rivalry of the 80s/90s. Damn glad to see Kelly kick cancer. Always hated that effer as a player...but had a lot of respect for him as well. Can't say the same for Marcia.
Yeah, Kelly was my favorite obviously, but Marino was my second go figure, now Cox, umm no. Those were some great times back then, cant wait til Brady is gone. Im looking at the division and we have 3 young QB's developing, and pretty bad *** defenses, even the Jets D is really stout, with Richardson etc. Tough division to be a developing Qb, that's for sure.
Tell you what, as little as I like EJ (nothing to do w being a Bill, disliked him predraft) I like Geno even less. You guys should be able to surpass the Jets easily with solid coaching.
The one thing I remember about that draft was the taped phone call between our GM Buddy Nix and the Tampa guy. We knew we had to replace Fitzpatrick, but Buddy clearly said "it's a hell of a year to need a QB." You can tell he meant it in a sarcastic way. My thing is Im angry they decided to not address the position until it was a year where the choice were: Geno EJ Glennon and Barkley
If you bundled a couple players together, say oh, Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus, I'm sure you still swing a trade for either Glennon or Barkley...
First off, welcome. Secondly, I agree, its a big game for both of our teams. It's going to be a good game. I'm worried about our backup LB's since there's been a week to gameplan and exploit their weaknesses, but I think it's going to be a close one, and we take it. Thirdly, it is good news about Jim Kelly, no doubt about that. Hope it stays good for him. I hated that guy when he was playing, but as a person he's a great guy, and removing football and the rivalry from the equation, I couldn't be happier for him, especially with all he's been through outside of the game. Wish nothing but the best for him. Finally... If I was a Bills fan, I'm not sure I'd be excited about Pegula owning the team. I guess it's good news that he plans to keep them in Buffalo, but when I look at the Sabres and the shape they are in, I'm not sure that would excite me knowing the same guy just bought the football team.
Well I'm happy to see that they will be the Buffalo Bills for a long time to come. Toronto Bills doesn't work for me. I'm also thrilled Jim Kelly has beaten his bout with cancer! I'm sure thats a huge relief for him and his family. And while Buffalo is the least of my disliked AFC East rivals you guys have had our number for a few years so I'm more worried about this game than the rest. We're gonna be heading into a stadium full of seriously jacked Bills fans riding a week of deserved good news. This will be one rowdy freakin crowd and the energy will be intense! Anyway good luck and congrats on all your teams good fortune! I also hope for an injury free game for both teams, but we're still gonna kick your guys butt!
I think it's going to be pretty tough for Miami to get a win this weekend. Given the circumstances they will probably be a tougher out than New England was. The Bills and the fans should be pretty fired up as there's been a lot of good news in Buffalo lately. Tannehill's going to have his first good game in Buffalo and Moreno's going to need to channel whatever possessed him last weekend.
Congrats on the beatdown your boys handed today. Hopefully your boys will do the same to the jests and pasties.
Grats on a VERY convincing win by a team that wanted it WAY more than the other team. Y'all deserved it.
Awsome win for the Bills today. Hopefully the Phins can take something from this...and get better. Look forward to the rubber match!
Great effect by Buffalo. I hate to admit it but they were better all around. Can you do us a favor and next time dont hurt our players but sack that inept coach of ours? Knock him out a few games please! Looks like you guys are the best AFC east team this year... NE is on a downfall and the Jets are just plain egotistical losers.
The next game won't be the rubber match. Rubber match indicates each team won once, and the rubber match would be a third game to break the tie.
That would be nice! You guys had your work cut out for you at RWS today. There was a ton of emotion and the place was insanely loud. Kudos to you guys, posting up in this thread. Phins fans are alright, if the Jets beat the Pack, oh God... the heads will get HUGE!
Oh the Jets are gonna win that game...GB is banged up and short in a lot of areas. The Jets have a good D.
Props to your team. They came out with a fire and were balls to the wall for the entirety of the game. Just wiish I could say the same about our guys.
