Per multiple reports he was in a boot today and not practicing So we have Ellerbe done for year Misi in a cast not a boot Wheeler in a cast Tripp with a chest injury McCain MIA with hip or flu?? Fede still hurt Starks This is gonna be a tough week with all those out
McCain is flat out MIA I think which is scary. If he had he flu or some injury the team would have said something. I feel like they dont even know themselves where he is.
Ellerbe and Wheeler being out is actually a plus because it resulted in us putting in backups that play better than those two. Koa Misi being out is a blow. He's not expected to play this week, either. I don't know Tripp's status or whether he could be available to play this week. I don't think Fede's injury or availability is that big of a deal. If Randy Starks misses the game that will indeed be a very large blow.
I understand your feeling about Wheeler and Ellerbe but with all our injuries having them in or available as backups help We need our brand new LB to maybe start after only 3-4 practices Starks is a huge blow as I love our 3 DT as they can rotate and stay fresh and pull off the 5-2 when needed
agree with CK. Starks is by far the biggest blow with those injuries. I'd like to have Misi back, but we can live without him for another game or two.
The Packers usually have that many guys every week on their injury report lol. I like to see every team at their best and healthy.
Agree Starks hurts more than the other ones. That said, Trusnik will show his warts with a week of game-planning by opposing Offensive Co-ordinators targeting these new LBs' weaknesses in their plan. Don't get too comfortable with him.
The boots are precautionary .He should be able to play .There are two other players in boots too .They should be ready soon too if not this week.
While they are PROBABLY right, it sounds like they haven't really been able to assess it medically due to the swelling, so nobody should really have an idea yet on whether he's expected to play or not. I think the beat writers are probably just reflecting Starks' own attitude on it.
Didn't one of them, Beasley maybe, or James Walker from ESPN, say that Wheeler now has a smaller cast and might be good to go? I'm still interested to see if he can regain his 2012 Raider form playing where Miami had him in the preseason - same as Oakland played him in 2012. I realize that's' a big "we'll see" but I'm still interested. Also, though I'm not sure it matters much in the grand scheme, but isn't Billy Turner still in a boot? He was on the sidelines wearing one in the Cortland Finnegan mic'd up video from Sunday.
In most circumstances I would be disappointed in a loss in Buffalo but given the condition of our defense especially if Starks is out I'm just hoping for a good effort, only getting blown would disappointment me.
Losing Starks hurts. I don't like losing Tripp and especially McCain. We need as much depth as possible at that position and McCain was a beast, a diamond in the rough beast. I am not as big a fan of Misi's as are others. I think giving other guys a chance was a blessing in disguise. I want to see McCain keep progressing. Sucks! Thank God that we didn't lose any OLinemen. They will be key for a victory.
? Uh, ok. Obviously or what should be obvious, I'm going off of well, this thread and the reports that they're injured. I and others were commenting on which players we would least like to lose. Scroll back. How about "IF"? Better? .
There lots of players injured. Does not mean they will not play. Don't blame me for jumping to conclusions.
Watch the bottom of the screen on NFLN. All teams look about the same injury-wise. Knowshon was limited with a shoulder too, but I don't expect that to stop him. He has proved he ain't about practice. Starks is a gamer too.
Well since Starks has turf toe and it will require rest for it to heal, is it possible to play him this week and rest him for the next two games and the bye week? He is needed more for this game than the Raiders and KC. Is it possible or practical? Just asking those of you who are more knowledgeable about this stuff.
That would be great news. A slightly injured Starks is like a mini-Ditka: he can still cause havoc out there.
That worked pretty well in the secondary last year. You do bring up a valid concern. I am bummed that Ellerbe was IR'ed. He had played poorly, but I was hoping he'd try to prove something this year, or at least try to earn the right to stick around.
