Honestly, both buff games were lost last year by the oline. I think this improved oline will hold up much better and we win easy. EJ will cough it up more than once IMO.
last years Buff team beats last years Miami team 8/9 times out of 10 the historically bad Oline against Buffs Dline was just too much to overcome. This is going to be a tough matchup a hangover from this game etc etc but at least it shouldn't be embarassing. and I would take our Dline over theirs because we are deeper and don't lose much when we sub guys in and out.
Yeah I can agree with that, I was saying this week that Ryan needed to chill and relax, he was talkin about being jacked up all week..I think I got a good pulse on his game and I thought he wasn't playing up to his standard.. He even looked shaky in the post presser...just wish he would relax..
Here's the Bills highlights from yesterday. Some eagle-eyed secondary play - interceptions/break-ups. Bleacher Report: Who's the Team to Beat in the AFC East
Don't forget this is the first time Tanny has played in a new offense since college. Its reasonable that it will take him a game or two to settle down. If we're still waiting for him to settle down Game 5 or 6 then there's probably a problem.
The biggest problems at Buffalo last year were the weather, and the fact that our OL was damn awful, while Buffalo's pass rush was very good. Add to that the fact that the Bills blitzed like crazy all game long, and Ryan had absolutely no time to throw or see who might get open. Thats a whole new story now, especially since we can run the ball. I'm in no way predicting a blow out, but I think that anyone who looks at least year's game where Buffalo destroyed our offense as a baromoter is wrong.
I think this whole offseason people are putting the burden on him to win and that "it's all about Tannehill" which might have built up some anxiety in him for this first game. Now that we won, and he saw that it was a whole team effort, that even with him playing subpar his teammates picked up the slack, some of that burden will come off and he will play more relaxed. I think he'll now realize his teammates have his back and he won't have to everything, all of the time.
Agreed, the original statement is ridiculous. However, I am happy that we won when Tannehill did not have a great game. That is a nice change. Our winning does not solely rest on his shoulders like last year.
You know, I can certainly see that. I still think he seems indecisive at times. I am not sure he entirely trusts Wallace; BUT, I think with some of those throws, he is trying to allow Wallace to just make a play. Granted, a couple to Wallace were as ugly as my great-aunt, but Wallace made a play on that TD, so we'll see if they continue to grow. I see he is going more to Sims, but man.....he's gotta make that catch.
Yesterday's win is still fresh on my mind, but all week this should be played in the locker room(& wherever the players go):
I thought he settled down very well in 2nd half. Nobody talks about those throw aways...but they were smart. He made some gorgeous throws in the 2nd half...the one to Clay and the one to Sims which were dropped. Hes still money to Hartline......Tannehill is gonna be fine. We just have to keep up the intensity..
I'm a glass half full type of fan, but I think Bufflao is going to give us a bit more trouble than the Pat's. Much stronger team defensively. That being said, if the O-Line holds up like it did yesterday, and the run game keeps going (I can't believe we finally have a run game!) it's very winnable for us. I don't have much faith in EJ manuel, or the Bills offense against our pass rush. I see our defense winning this one for us, by and large.
Plus he was clutch on quite a few third downs, had some drops, threw 2 TD's. IMO folks are on him a little too much, forgetting alot of the good he did. Even in the first half he started 10 of 12 - yet he sucked. I saw the off target passes as well - he redeemed himself nicely. I'm not saying he was playing Elite, but he showed alot of good things running the new offense.
I think people are too negative on tannehill. The first half the only gripe was he wasn't leading his recievers thereby giving up YAC. But he was still hitting them. In the 2nd half he found his rythm and was leading. That's perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned. He made some really money throws yesterday and his decision making was pretty good overall. Solid B effort
Did you watch!? If sims can catch, and our highly paid WR can keep 2 ****ing feet in bounds like 98% of the league at his position, we'd have won by 21 and Tannehill would've had rock star stats.
Stop the run and make Manuel throw the ball just like we did with Brady. On offense, run a lot of screens and make them play the sidelines with quick throws to the boundaries, and challenge Preston Brown in the middle. This will be a good win if we can get it, it's not too cold yet.
It'll be interesting to see us run against the Bills and beyond. We mainly ran power inside zone, straight up power blocking into second level. I don't remember seeing any outside zone runs. Now that the Bills know what's coming, it will be interesting to see if we can continue to be successful. Pats couldn't or did not adjust throughout the game. It looked like coaches scrapped a lot of if not all outside pulls from the game plan because those were not successful in the preseason with our personnel.
Not so sure we run as well as yesterday vs Buffalo. NE was horrible ve the run last year and look to be just as bad this year. Expecting the Bills front 7 to play us much tougher. Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk
Aye...PFF had Wake way high as tops on D (of course)...Mitchell was second. Other bench guys showed very well too...as we all saw for ourselves.
Hopefully this big win doesn't mean another letdown. That seems to happen after a big win. But with the thought of what happened last year, maybe they can pull this out. Its nice going there at this time of year and not in the freezing cold.
IMO the wind has to be a consideration. I wasn't there so I can't say if the wind stronger at different points in the game. But based on the kick-off depth it was certainly stronger in one direction. I wonder how much of the inaccuracy for both RT and Brady was due to the wind?
In my opinion the game will be decided by these three things.. - How our offensive line performs against Kyle Williams, Mario Williams, and Marcell Dareus. Can we keep Ryan upright in the passing game and get push off the line in the run game? - How our linebackers (whoever is starting) play against the Bills read option. Buffalo's run game scares me a lot more than their passing attack. - Lastly we need to clean up and cut out the mistakes on offense.. no drops, no fumbles. Get ahead early, win the turnover battle, and keep Tannehill clean and will be 2-0 going into week three back in Miami.
That's up to the coaching staff. It seems that Philbin has changed his tune a little bit this year. Let's see if he's got this team ready to play.
I agree that if the Dolphins play as well against the Bills as they did in the second half of yesterday game, they should win the game. I just think it is going to be tougher to run against the Bills defense than he was against the Patriots defense. So I think the offense is going have to rely more on the passing game against the Bills than it did against the Patriots. The DL of the Bills is also much better than the Patriots, so the OL of the Dolphins will be under more pressure in the running and passing game. The Dolphins defense did hold the Patriots to less than 90 yards in their running game. Of course the Patriots were passing the ball on almost every play in the second half and they did average nearly 4 yards, (3.9) a carry when they did run the ball. If the Dolphins can get a big lead on the Bills and force Manuel to go to the passing game, I can see a repeat of what the Dolphins did to Brady yesterday. If on the other hand, the Dolphins OL has problems blocking the Bills DL and the Bills have success running the ball against the Dolphins defense, it is going to be a tough game for the Dolphins to win. I didn't know if the Dolphins could beat the Patriots or not prior to the game yesterday. Yet when I looked at the first two games of the season. I thought the Dolphins playing the Patriots at home would be an easier game for the Dolphins to win than going up to Buffalo and winning next week. I believe the Dolphins can win the game, but a win by the Bills would also not surprise me at all.
Last year NE was 30th in the league rushing YPG allowed but Buffalo was 28th. So I don't know that I'd say much tougher.
Dolphins are primed for a let down. Your boys and most here got up for the Pats game like it was the Super Bowl. Time for a let down and regression to the mean.
One indicator of change is the increase in Pat fan trolls this year. Perception-wise either Miami has turned the corner or the Pats are deteriorating.
Are the Pats better or worse than the team that went to the AFC Championship last year? Everyone knows the answer is BETTER. Maybe the Fins will contend for a playoff spot, but only deluded fans think your team is actually better.
I'm not so sure everyone agrees with your answer. Do they have more talented FA signings? Yes. Does that usually work out for a team that goes after top FAs in several positions? No. Check out the Eagles a few years back for some recent proof. Having 3/4 TOP people in the secondary don't do jack...obviously...particularly when one is suspended. Our offensive scheme exposed your defense cold. Brand new OC did that...what happened to Billy Boy's GENIUS adjustments at the half? Got schooled by a rookie...plain and simple.
What? Maybe its the latent alcoholism associated with being a fair weather Pats fan, but that made no sense. Yeah, who'd think a 33-20 drubbing would make one team better than the other. That's just crazy talk. Like I said before, change your punk *** name to "Not Since BB Got Caught Cheating"
I believe the deluded one here is the guy that asks a question including two potential answers, then answers his own question with neither of the previous answers offered up in the original question. Lay off the booze, man! Must have been a rough Monday.
I think this could very well be true, he really looked uncomfortable in his post presser, stuttering words and stuff.. Wifey needs to step up.
