He had fully gathered himself when the contact arrived. That was a poor pass, but the fumble was on Wallace.

I was speaking about his decision-making. Didn't once mention footwork or accuracy. But do go on.

Well...it's well documented that Lazor noticed his bad footwork from the jump and worked with him to fix it. Sherman I'm sure didn't notice it.

Great, great win. Great play by the young LBs.

RT can just look really bad sometimes. That said, it was still only the first half of the first game. But, you have to give credit to RT for coming back and having a good second half. A lot --- I mean a LOT - of QBs in this league would just fold after a bad 1st half.

Lets not forget that Tom Brady looked horrible in the 2nd half - when it really counted - and he's a HOF QB. We played great D, of course, but still, it was Tom Brady and the Pats don't have a slouch of a D and RT was much better.

The thing that bothered me was the Sims drop.

I really am disappointed with Sims. Imo, he needs to pick it up or get a lot less PT. We still scored on the drive and Moreno was huge which was great. But that drop by Sims could have been very costly had we not gotten a 1st down. If you are going to be an effective TE in this league, you have to make that play in that situation. It's about making plays when the game is on the line and that was it.

Just for the heck of it - as a subtle message - I'd bring in a blocking type TE for a tryout this week without saying a word - but let it be known that they are trying guys out.

Gator needs to get more PT, imo.

The good news is that the Dolphins appear to have compiled an offensive line that will do a much better job of hiding Ryan Tannehill's deficiency in responding to pressure. While Tannehill's performance with regard to the passing game, specifically (as in his passing statistics), may not improve, the fewer sacks he takes could indeed cause the team to score a lot more points and win a lot more games.

Sacks are drive-killers, and if we can cover up Tannehill's deficiency in processing pressure, he could perform about like he did last year in terms of his passing statistics, while the team, like today, scores a lot more points and plays a lot better overall.

He'll improve. He improved dramatically in the 2nd half. He was just off/jittery/not mentally fully in the game in the first half. Not worried about him down the road.

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski was targeted 11 times, but caught 4 passes for 40 yards and one TD.

    Dion who?

I disagree Rafs, the errant pass changed the fate of the receivers position.

He wasn't inaccurate all day long. There were also many very accurate passes. Even Green pointed them out. There's this myth that some QBs don't have inaccurate passes every game. It's just selective memory. Brady had many inaccurate passes as well, but everybody pretends he was just off today. Reality is that he's often just as inaccurate, but they still usually win. Watch Luck play and every game he has as many inaccurate passes as RT did today. Wilson was 9 of 18 for 103 yards in the playoffs against NO and he had three other games last year where he completed less than 50% of his passes, but nobody remembers b/c he was on a great team and they won it all at the end.

I think there is blame to share on that one. After the first half I was thinking to myself that Wallace isn't a football player, but he showed some toughness and fire in the 2nd half that was encouraging.

In the first half he was 10 for 15 for 75 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT, for a 72.9 QB rating, and in the second half he was 8 for 17 for 103 yards and 1 TD and 0 INTs, for an 86.2 rating.

While there was improvement from first to second half, mostly due to the lack of an interception in the second half, his second half performance was about average in the NFL.

The difference with Wilson is that in the games in which he played very well, he played much better than Tannehill did when he played well, and there were more of those very good games for Wilson than for Tannehill. So while their poor games may have looked similar, the rest of their seasons were considerably different.

Sherman didn't feel the need to pay attention. He had his son in law to take care of those things. :whistling:

BB the personnel manager has really been trying to be too clever and cute in the past 3-4 years and it is really starting to bite them. He made some good moves early on and it went to his head that anything he does is genius, but in reality many of his moves are garbage. He is very much living off his past rep at this point.

Speaking of trades though, I would cautiously dangle Pouncey and see what kind of return we may be able to get. His talent may be able to help in a few weeks, but we did well enough without him, and I am definitely not comfortable enough with his off field makeup to think he is someone we can count on.

Additionally, would see if the Rams would float a high round choice for Moore, but I would expect not.

If Simms and Wallace can catch and drag their feet tannehill looks like a top 5 QB.

Once he starts keeping on some of those read option plays. That's all she wrote.

You didn't mention anything about decision making. You assigned generic blame to Sherman for Ryan Tannehill's abilities. But do go on.

Mankins hurt his knee in TB's game today. Don't know how bad it was, other than it put him out of the game.

He's also gotta do a better job of not locking in on just one receiver. I saw too many times today throwing the ball into traffic when other guys were open. That botched redzone play where he overthrew Clay with that fade was half bad playcalling and half bad read. If he looks at the whole field in front of him more and make better decisions, especially now he has better protection, he'll have better stats.

Until the last two games of the year RT didn't have any games where he'd played as bad as Wilson had on occasion. Wilson certainly had more exceptional games while RT only had a couple of those. But IMO that is largely a factor of the much better play calling that Wilson enjoyed.

The problem I see with Ryan is he's simply one dimensional at this point..so that dimension better be real good.

Even the asst OL coach, Jack Bicknell Jr, is probably better than Jim Turner was. He's had some success being the lead OL coach in the past. Coached the KC line in 2012, and Pittsburgh's last year.

Wilson has a whole other dimension to his game right now..your talking about comparing a strict pocket passer to a dual threat while only talking about what their doing from the pocket, not fair to Wilson.

Satele has never been a "bad" center, he's just not starting quality. He might be more of our Pennington though than Moreno this year though, cuz everyone else we tried out at center was deplorable. At least he doesn't fumble the snap.

This line gets better when Pouncey returns. I wouldn't trade him. Maybe even play him at guard.

You know the thing is this is a new offense for Tannehill. For the last 3 years it was Sherman offense the same one he ran in college for the most part. He has to adjust and i think it will take a few games for him to become comfortable. I dont think the defense will play like this all season, we will get exposed, but hopefully by than Ryan has feels more comfortable and the offense can keep scoring.

Feels so good to see 30+ points on the board against a good team.

This is for Sicks comment about the read option... I'm gonna say this again, this will be my third year saying it.

Get this dudes head in the game early, by running him, Jesus, call a freakin play where he consciously runs the ball thru a stupid lane..let him feel that motion, let him slide, let the defense see him do it, have it in the game plan, I promise you, it is the only way to reverse what's going on inside his head...and if you think I'm wrong please tell where are the rushes, where are the yards from tuckin it and running ?...the brain is losing it's funtion in that aspect, the coaches must re engage it because obviously that part is not firing whatsoever..

I'm trying to win playoff games, I'm over this win, and I hope our players feel the same.

I agree. There was one of the red-zone plays where he could have tucked it an probably scored but ended up throwing an incomplete pass. He is a very good athlete, he needs to use it more often. Im not saying run the guy to death, but have him keep it once or twice a game just to keep them honest and get it in his head that he CAN make plays with his feet if its there.
