I had heard that back in 2010 as well. The way I heard it was that Lebron, like everybody else was recruiting. He tried to bring Bosh to Cleveland, but Bosh basically told him there's was no way he'd ever play there. After that Lebron concluded that he'd wouldn't be able to recruit any big FAs to Cleveland and decided to join Wade and Bosh in Miami. That's part of why I never bought the idea that they had it planned way in advance. Players always talk about playing together and I'm sure those guys did as well, but it's always just talk. The decision is never made until it comes to decision time. In fact, I'm also sure that the big three talked about re-upping in Miami, but when decision time came up it didn't happen.
The only realistic team that could throw a wrench into that (assuming both the Heat and Cavs stay healthy) is the Bulls. If Rose comes back at the level he was and stays healthy, they could potentially beat either the Heat or the Cavs. If things really come together in Washington, they might have a shot as well, but it should come down to Miami, Cleveland, and Chicago.
Cleveland/Chicago and who? I don't know how anybody can say that Washington/Toronto are better than us.
Wonder if he meant regular season or playoffs. If Wade plays 50 games and without a ton of depth I doubt the Heat are going to concern themselves too much with the regular-season standings. They strike me as more of a dangerous playoff team than a team build to dominate the regular season.
Heat should still win the division though. I don't see Washington or Toronto leaping up to 50 plus wins
Toronto was at 48 last year, so it isn't impossible, but like I said earlier, I'm not a huge believer in that trend continuing. I should probably be higher on Jonas, but I'm just not super excited about him. And I'm not saying top 4 - but I think Atlanta could surprise next year. Milsap really came into his own and they were without Horford for most of the season.
I haven't seen the exact numbers, but I've heard that the Dalton contract is an example of the short contract you're talking about. My understanding is that Cincy can cut Dalton after two years with no cap hit. And for the first two years he's being paid as a second tier QB ($12-14 mill/per). If he succeeds (and there seems to be a pretty good team around him) then his salary jumps to top tier pay (about $20 mill/per) year three and on. Seems like a pretty smart/low risk contract by Cincy.
Why is LeBron losing weight? Is he already resigned to moving into the advanced age portion of his career? I know his shot has gotten very good. And I'm sure he'd like to reclaim some more speed. But explosive strength seems like it's always been a huge part of his game.
Toward the end of his career, his best bet was to RETAIN his weight and continue his evolution into a PF. This is a huge setback for him and his career. It means no more post play. No more base/power driven play, and more speed oriented play which means Scoring titles, 48% shooting and losing. He really is that guy that thinks he knows everything. Maybe he can't read a stat sheet and really resents that Erik Spoelstra made him a MUCH better player.
My guess is that all the talk of/with Wade and with Ray Allen about diet has just encouraged him to improve his diet.
Pretty funny that LeBron spent 7 years in Cleveland with fans complaining he refused to get a post game - goes to Miami for 4 years and becomes the best post player in the league - only to return to Cleveland and lose so much weight he can't play in the post again. Well, funny for you guys. Not so much for me.
It really is funny. ALL of those rumblings you heard of him being disgruntled about being asked to play in the post, were actually real!
If/when the Love trade happens the Cavs will probably need LeBron on the wing more than the post, so I'm not freaking out, yet. But I very much wonder how this impacts his health / resistance to injury. He went from more speed and athleticism as a Cavs to bulk and power with the Heat. Now that he's 30 I don't know that he can just switch back to that same speed he had in the past. His natural progression was to become a ridiculously dominant power forward - but with Love around I'm not sure what happens to that plan. Sure hope Blatt is as smart as they say.
Does that even matter? He's coach and GM there now. He's going straight up Jackie Moon up in that biatch.
Only took a month post Decision II. By the way, David Price also took out a full page ad thanking the Tampa fans (lol). Sure seems to be standing operating procedure for stars that leave teams.......
I don't think LeBron did it when he left Cleveland, either. In fact, I'm fairly certain he took out a page in the Akron paper specifically thanking them for support and didn't do one in the Cleveland paper. Even after Ilgauskas did.
So I guess this is a particular LeBron thing. Don't know why he can't see the cheap good will it would engender. But whatever. I just find it hilarious that even David Price, who plays for a team nobody cares about, did it, yet LeBron won't/can't/doesn't want to.
No one should have thanked Cleveland fans for anything given how they behaved after the decision. That's wholly understandable, IMO.
Not trying to be funny but Lebron looks like someone who stopped using HGH/PEDs. Guess he had to stop, even when he was in his third year in Miami I suspected him of using some kind of PED.
Taking a step back for a minute. Exactly how is this any different from girls gawking and following up on sites like People magazine and TMZ regarding which "it" celebrities gained/lost weight? With the over-analysis of pictures and such.
Perhaps. Though you could say the same about people whose cottage industry largely revolves around looks.
Wouldn't be surprised if lebron got stronger while cutting, on dat anavar. I seriously question how losing 10 pounds is so obvious on a person so tall. Had to be around 20.
Guys, let's not be like those idiot people who comment on Heat ESPN articles and be like "OMG! JAMES IZ TOTES ON PEDS!!!1!1!1!!"
Mountain from a mole hill. It's the offseason. He's out of training atm. Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk
SOme news: Heat signed Tyler Johnson and invited him to camp, so all of his fans got what they wanted from Summer League. and The Lebatard Show attack on the Akron homecoming has commenced. Billboards going up.... other things coming after...
Mike Miller: "Championship or bust makes basketball not as fun as it should be’” Chew on that one for a bit. LOL
