    Heat signed Shawne Williams.

6'-9" forward that had a decent stretch with the Knicks in a spread 4 offense, which has some principles that mimic the Heat's.

Decent buy low low low low low prospect. 2 roster spots left for the base team..7 left for training camp. My guess is that Oden gets a spot and don't rule out a Ray Allen return. Riley, Spo have a great relationship with Ray. If they appeal to him for one last year, he might be receptive.

Do you anticipate the Heat will run a similar system as last year? I thought maybe Spo would retool things with different personnel. Weird roster where Wade/Deng aren't threats from outside but Bosh/McBob are. I'm not real sure how they make that all work but I'm interested to see what Spo has cooked up.

I'm curious why the Heat would be the most hated team in Florida.

Williams shot 40% from 3 in that 2010 season with the Knicks.

It's a low risk, decent reward signing. About as good as you can do for the minimum

Look at the link I posted from Couper Moorhead. They will invert the offense, much like they have the last few years, but with a few more ball movement off the ball principles.

Here's some highlights from a D-League game last year where he went for 34 points.

Getting Ray Allen back would be a pretty big boost.

Crazy to think that you lose LeBron James and as a result you invert the offense even more. In for a penny, in for a pound I guess.

Do any of these additions have any particularly intriguing sweet spots when it comes to the three point line?

The Heat like corner threes and they look for those opportunities a lot...and I wonder if they've run any analytics to show these players' percentages from the corner.

They don't have Shawne Williams' stat profile at NBA.com, if not, that would be easy to find out.

For the other guys...all you gotta do is look at their shot charts for each year.

    Example, Josh McRoberts:

Here's his shot chart at Vorped. 2013-14 regular season.

There's a lot of green in the corner threes.

I don't get the sense the Heat are bringing Oden back unless they simply have a spot left and there's no one else out there, and I don't like that. If they wanted him back I would think he'd already be signed unless he waiting to see if he can get more elsewhere. That doesn't seem to be the case though, it seems like he wants back and he's waiting on the Heat who seem noncommittal. Honestly, what has to really be worked out if both sides are interested? All the Heat can offer in the minimum and I'm sure neither side wants to go more than a year or two on the deal. Seems like a pretty easy negotiation to me.

I don't get why the Heat wouldn't bring him back unless he just looks like he'll never turn into anything from their standpoint. I'd rather a guy like that who's still young and has enough upside at a position of scarce talent in the league, than some veteran with no upside who will just sit at the end of the bench all year.

It was bad. Real bad. He easily broke his tibia and fibula in half. His leg was in a 90 degree angle. Kevin Ware type of injury, maybe worse.

There are pictures and video of it, but I honestly do not want to post them here.

Awful news about George. As much as I hate the Pacers, I've always liked George. The guy plays the game the right way.

i saw the game live and i´m still shocked, you hope with this kind of medical technology that is available these days, it won´t hinder him the rest of his playing days

going to guess he had a stress fracture that just snapped that's a horrible injury jesus. I wonder how many of these players have no clue if they have stress fractures or not.

No idea if this is true, but twitter seemed to think if it was just a leg break and not any sort of ligament tear it MIGHT not be as bad long-term as it seems at first view.

Of course, Twitter doctors aren't exactly reliable - but I'm hoping that's true.

    Just awful.

What an incredible fall for that Pacers squad.

Well I'm no medical expert but for what I saw, he definitely suffered a double compound fracture to the tibia and fibula. That carries a lot of infection risk to the exposed bone, which means surgery to clean the area and insert pin(s) and/or plate, and likely a 6 month recovery period followed by probably 3-6 more months of rehab to return to playing strength.

Likely he'll miss next season at the least. It's just awful.
