They've done some good work over there and they're coached really well. But going from McBob to Boozer is a downgrade, IMO.

Yeah but those guys shoot threes. If Wade has lost a measure of his athleticism I would love to see him hone a long range shot to adapt his game.

Bridman had a $5.6M cap hold; once he signed, his cap number went down to >$1M.

What are Birdman's and Wades 2014/15 cap numbers?

They lose McRoberts, but added Marvin Williams, Vonleh, and possibly Boozer to go along with Big Al. I'd say they upgraded big time at PF, lol.

Jenkins was contacted not to write a "here's my free agency decision" piece, it was to write a "I'm going back to Cleveland" piece. That's the problem.

Spo is taking the classy road as he is wont to do. That's fine for him, but the rest of us think it's odd that LeBron wouldn't prioritize a good word to the coach who helped him become the best player on the planet. It's just odd. How'd LeBron go from "That's a big time coaching move, Spo!" to "Can't text right now"?

I derive this from Sec's posts as well as comments made to me on Twitter by Skolnick in response to a question about James Jones the other day.

And yes, Miami is not allowed to roster Mike Miller until next season. But I wasn't referring to Miller specifically. It's literally impossible to recruit Miller against Miami because Miami can't sign him. I'm referring to Ray Allen, James Jones, and Birdman.

Ginobili and Pierce have a 3 point shot. They wouldn't be nearly as effective if they didn't have that in their arsenal. Generally older players that are able to stay successful have or develop range.

Interestingly enough, Wade improved his shot quite a bit and had his best year from midrange. He was able to extend that to behind the 3 point line in the playoffs (in an admittedly small sample). If he's able to add that to his game, that's going to go a long way.

Wade adds a 3 point shot and the heat are back in business.

If you don't think that we are better than those three teams you mentioned, but we are better than everybody else...then you think we are a #3 seed.

    Just stating the obvious.

    It's a team option though.

Great deal for Charlotte. they either have him locked up on what could be a bargain contract in 2016 or they let him go and free up $9 million in space.

    Great job by them

    You really don't know that.

Not seeing the big deal here. There will be a time for that. I doubt LeBron wants to do that sort of thing over text.

Haven't seen any evidence he recruited James Jones against Miami before he made his decision.

    Again where's the evidence.

Team Option? oh...then great deal. GREAT deal by Charlotte. We would have to jump through some serious hoops to be able to clear that $9 million though.

Manu Ginobili's three point shot is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. If you pass the ball to him in rhythm and he's open, he is almost guaranteed to miss. But if he's got the ball on the dribble and you play just a little bit too far off him, he will up and shoot it unexpectedly and make it every time.

Wouldn't the club level NBA thread be a better choice for this?

More than Lebron, more than what Miami or Chicago is doing, that Stephenson contract has the potential to define the ECF battle for the next 7-8 years.

If he gets his head straight—others have done it before him, he's not the first "crazy" player ever—Lance's upside could be higher than Kevin Durant's, whom EVERYBODY will be chasing in 2016.

But Stephenson will still be under contract that season if he shows to deserve it, and Charlotte doesn't have to chase anybody except complementary pieces. And then after that 3rd option season Charlotte can give him a full Bird contract with both little regard to the cap plus the new TV money, say for 5 years.

That one decision this offseason, more than any other, might determine the postseason in the NBA for the better part of the next decade.

Yep, I have no opinion on this. Just saw it was you who posted so I started making things up.

Fact is, most Heat fans are forgetting how great LeBron is already....he makes everyone better. He accomplished more in Cleveland already than you guys wanna give him credit for. He took an average supporting cast to the NBA Finals, and act supporting cast with 60+ wins.

And he is a better player now than he was then.

So yes, when people CONTINUE to make all these matter of fact statements about Lebron and Cleveland I'm certainly going to assume that you have an agenda, because your reasoning isn't very logical.

This is inside baseball talk..but here goes anyway....

The Heat is slated to under-perform last year by around 4 WS. Last Year's team under-performed by around 8 wins. If you take Lebron's average production, he takes away around 15 wins, and it is almost impossible to replace that type of loss in production, but usually a good GM can replace at least half of the production with at least 2 players that will take up the aforementioned players' minutes. Deng and McRoberts have replaced half of the production.

In other words, in the salary cap era, it takes a minimum of TWO offseasons to be able to replace the production of a player of the caliber of Lebron James without using a Max Contract, and it might take up to 4 players to do it.

Durant, as his team's #1 scoring option, took 20 FGs per game last season. Lance, as, what? Indy's 3rd option? Took 11. Durant's shooting percentage was only one point better than Lance's.

That means that, without Russell Westbrook, Lance could have (as the #1 option) scored about as much as Durant.

Durant plays SF, Lance is mainly a SG; yet look at their rebounding and assists and they are pretty close; advantage by one point on assists to Durant.

If Lance breaks out, his production could be better than Durant's—and Durant is all anyone can think about, he's a huge part of the reason everyone wants the decks clear in '16. All I'm saying is that while that dance is going furiously, Charlotte—if Lance does embrace sanity and leadership—could be sitting calmly, knowing they've got their younger superstar virtually locked in, and just adding pieces for him that offseason and next.

    Maybe even Durant.

    THAT'S impact.

You do realize that every defense in the NBA keys on Durant and as you said Lance is a THIRD option. If he was subject to the same defensive schemes and energy Durant is he would put up nowhere near the same numbers.

I don't mean to be rude but this is so ridiculous I'm starting to wonder if you're just trolling for some reason
