I'm very interested to see if they can maintain their efficiency levels with a larger role. I feel like a lot of times players who are ultra efficient in certain roles are not as efficient when those roles get expanded. I think bosh can still maintain that efficiency, I don't think wade can. I think wade needs to be basically a 3rd option at this point of his career on a great team.
So, does the Heat now re-retire the #23 jersey it un-retired in 2010 and reinstate the ban on headbands it did away with the Spring before LeBron came here?
"The Miami Heat have reached out to Eric Bledsoe, according to @Probballdraft on Twitter." Although the link I saw says that Miami can't offer the max due to Bosh's contract. I don't believe that's the case.
I don't get Bledsoe. Playing starter minutes, he averaged 17PPG and only 5 assists. And he shoots free throws like Shaq. In the minds of some, BOSH wasn't a max player, but THIS guy is?
Max for Bledsoe would be like $14M or so right, because of his short years in the league? Might be way off here, but Heat can swing $23M for Bosh, $10M for Deng, $14M for Bledsoe and maybe $12M for Wade, that'll keep them under the cap still. They could also sign McBob and Granger and exceed the cap using Bird rule for Wade and Bosh. Though I might be wrong, I'm far from a cap expert.
I'd rather spend Bledsoe money on Moroe personally, but maybe any offer given to him will likely be matched by the Pistons.
Wade isn't getting $12M. That's a pipe dream and pretty disrespectful to offer IMO. Bledsoe would be great but gambling on RFA's gets your burned very often. Suns can, and probably will match that offer sheet. You still put it in, but you don't expect it to work. There still needs to be some forward looking to 2016 as well. Sure, cap goes up, but imagine going into that year with $40 million in space but still having a team to work with already.
Absolutely; add Monroe's 760 rebounds and sign Jameer Nelson cheap, and you have a better team than if you just add Bledsoe.
LeBatard said Wade was willing to be very flexible with his salary in order to help the team be a contender, that's why I put that number. I don't care what he gets, give him the max for all I care, he has certainly earned it. I'm just speculating, which is about all we can do right now.
Here's what I don't understand about the whole LeBron timeline. Maybe someone can help: -Bron met with Riley on Wednesday. -Bron wrote the SI article on Thursday. -Bron broke the news on Friday Riley was "blindsided" by the news. Did LeBron just straight-up lie to Riley in the Wednesday meeting? Did he not say, "Gee Pat, I kinda wanna go back to Cleveland, but I'm torn"?
Of course he lied. I doubt Riley would just go through the motions and bring his Salary Cap expert across the country for ****s & giggles. The truth is still murky but all signs point to LeBron and his crew plotting a way back to Cleveland from the moment he got to Miami, he "forgave" Dan Gilbert years ago. He leased us to get his rings because he knew he could ride Riley to them, and ran back to Ohio to be the Prodigal Son returning. He was NEVER ours. NEVER...
Still; Nelson knows how to spread the ball much better. And, hey—we don't even have a real Center after all this! Birdman is nice, but good for about 15 minutes. Oden is a big question mark. I fervently hope we didn't give Chris Bosh that contract to continue to subjugate his strengths to the 5. Nelson is out there, one phone call and a few bucks—done. Let's get a big!
He is a great player with ZERO loyalties to anyone but himself and his cronies. But he cant ever forget that he had to come to Miami to win something, he knows deep down he cant do it in Cleveland...no one can take away our rings and banners. Our logo will always be on those championship rings Lebron...
This. Heat had no idea he was seriously considering the Cavs. He was in touch with team personnel the entire process going though the motions of our offseason programs. It BS. No issue with him leaving but the way he did it...definitely sour grapes.
Aside from Monroe I don't see a real big out there. We may need to roll with Birdman/Emeka Okafor (Is he still out there)/Oden
He's an explosive PG who can create for himself and get into the paint regularly. The Heat are going to have to play more conventional offense, and Bledsoe helps you do that. They need someone to handle the ball, penetrate, finish at the rack, and set people up (in other words: much of what LeBron did). They are really lacking that kind of player. Trouble is they also need a center so Bosh's game can be featured in his proper position.
I'm not saying we shouldn't. I'm just saying I'm sure Miami is turning that rock, and if we can't find something under it to work with Bledsoe is a good option. Probably better than Deng.
Napier is really the odd piece right now. His shot has been so terrible but its always been a strength of his. I've seen him make a lot of good first passes where the second guy just doesn't know what to do with the ball, gives it back to Napier five times and he has to force a tough shot. Going to be interesting to see how he plays going forward.
I fully believe Napier will look a lot better playing with veteran NBA players. He is a true PG that feeds of the quality of the players he has around him. However I do think he's going to struggle a bit to fully adapt to the NBA game.
Oh yeah I don't see him coming on and immediately being some savior at PG. He will have his struggles, but at the same time I feel those struggles can only be overcome with playing time. Yet we want to win now. Its going to be an interesting scenario to watch. Our best hope is that everything said about the Wade procedure is true, and he gains back a bit of explosiveness allowing him to take over more ball handling responsibilities.
Who says he's waiting? http://www.nola.com/pelicans/index.ssf/2014/07/anthony_morrow_reportedly_reac.html
Why the hell did we get Granger?? We couldve gotten Morrow or even Marion with that Cash...both are MUCH better options...one is a high level defender and the other is a lights out shooter...we need both..
He was such a perfect fit for this offense with LeBron on it...which is beside the point, sadly. What he does give you is range. The Heat are going to need that range from the PG position because Wade doesn't stretch the floor. Whoever plays PG is going to have to have a good three-ball because you cannot have both your SG and PG be guys who aren't threats from behind the arc. I think Shabazz will be a fine bench player who can give you a quick lift offensively. Hopefully he develops into more over the season.
Eh if Granger can finally be healthy...he's only 31 and a strong shooter in his own right. Question is of course...can he be healthy.
Heat made moves with Lebron in mind. McBob as a stretch 4, taking a flyer on Granger's health, and a shooting PG in Napier, was all done with Lebron in mind. Which is why it was so ****ty for him not to let the Heat know he was at least likely to return to Cleveland. He left the team hanging. That's what bothers me most about all this.
Yep, and he is a player that you can't just stick a guy in and say "Do what Lebron did". It's so vital for Riley to try and fill his role with multiple players right now. Either by getting a good PG like Bledsoe and a passable big man like Okafor or by getting a guy like Monroe and maybe ugh...re-signing Chalmers and giving him more traditional responsibilities with the ball.
