FWIW worth Rosenberg is saying he is done for the year and needs surgery, but consider the fact Rosenberg like cocaine and you can come to your own conclusion. I will wait for Heyman or somebody else to say it before I stab myself as I watch the Yankees desperately trade away thei entire farm system for....

Solarte up, Beltran on the DL because he has a concussion as a ball he hit during batting practice bounced off the L-net and blasted him in the head breaking his nose....

    No I am not kidding.....

Via - David Cone on YES during the game - Tanaka has a partial tear and will need at least 6 weeks off.

That's rough. If he doesn't respond extremely well to therapy and rehab, TJ surgery is likely.

Terrible news, especially when its someone who is good and young. Yankees are saying none of the doctors recommend surgery but you know its coming sooner or later.

There's a very small list of guys that are doing the same rehab Tanaka os doing that ended up being fine and not needing the surgery right away, Saito former LAD RP is another.

Wainwright though eventually had to get TJ surgery after a few years no?

It is over, I would trade everybody that I could....D-Rob, Roberts, Ichiro anybody that you can get anything for.....that wont happen they will give up Betances for Headley instead because he hit a HR off Kershaw last night....

This team is totally unwatchable but the 2nd half I am going to have to catch as many games as possible to watch the end of his career.....

lol did they really offer him 4/70? You have to admit that is kind of insulting.....I mean I get there is the whole rule about arms and money, but this is Lester we are talking about....

Agreed about it being insulting. I think the Sox were using the Beckett/Lackey deals as comparisons with that offer while factoring in the hometown discount Lester was telling people he would take. I agree though don't understand why that first offer was so light.

Just throw him the 4/25 and 5th year vesting under whatever perimeters the club wants at 20.....very fair and he signs tomorrow....it still gives them financial flexibility to do whatever they want if they so choose too, keeps your ace on the staff and a leader for the young guys in the farm as they come up to the rotation to look up too........

The Jeter lovefest is getting a little much but I have to share this one thing that happened last night. Say was you want about him being overpaid, part of it is true sure because the numbers dont particularly pop out at you with the exception of how long he actually has been consistently good for. But overrated? Nope not in the least....

This is such classic Jeter right here...

Yeah with all due respect to Jeter and even Rivera these retirement celebrations at each stadium is a bit much. I understand the All Star Game and the team's main rival(s) but for every team to give the guy a retirement gift and do a whole big deal out of it is just way too much and overboard. I mean why do the Astros have to give Rivera/Jeter anything when they played against them what maybe 10 games or so? I get the Sox and Mets but yeah the rest need to stop otherwise we are going to have to go through it every year with someone new. When does it end?

Don't blame the player though Fink, I mean if a team wants to hold a 2 minute pre-game gift ceremony that isn't televised so be it, each team is free to do what they want IMO....Also I think they do it laugh to themselves cuz they know after these guys leave their is no more of them and what is left team-wise is terrible hahahah. What I have a problem is that baseball wants to promote their brand or their sport so to speak, but why NOTHING about Don Zimmer or Tony Gwynn?? LITERALLY the only love Zimmer got was David Price tapping his patch on his chest when he introduced. Baseball ****ed up on that one and somewhere during that night they very well could have done something. Gwynn was Jeter before Jeter....

It pretty much ends with them though.....those guys were classy legends and you should celebrate your legends....you have one guy who literally is the best closer we will ever see, who did it the right way, never had a bad word to say about anything. Think about that. Baseball has been around since the 1800's and OUR generation saw the best at one position. That doesn't happen everyday.....

And Jeter is Jeter, one thing about Jeter though he isn't fake, guy is as real as it gets, always has been...Buck took a shot at Jeter a few years back....Jeter don't forget...

I don't blame the players at all although I'm sure that could stop it if they wanted.

Baseball has done an awful job for years marketing the game and honoring their legends so that wasn't a surprise.

I still think it's a little too late for both teams unless the Sox can really go on a big 20 and 5 month or whatever you never know. But stranger things have happened especially with Toronto falling out of it, the Yankees and their pitching problems and not trusting Baltimore's pitching either. The next 9 days will be really interesting.

Exactly. I still think Peavy gets traded and possibly Gomes but the bigger pieces they could deal like Andrew Miller, Lester and Koji won't.

Cashman has made two good trades in getting McCarthy and now Headley for next to nothing, no matter how either guy performs.

With that being said it really takes you back to see just how far Headley has fallen off the map, since his big 2nd half in 2012. You wouldn't have been able to make this type of trade in a video game back then. Headley, I'd guess, will do better to get out of Petco but not sure how much he'll help. Either way it's a win for the Yankees and a bit funny how many people loved Solarte back in April and May and how he turned up (which is why I remain cautious on Brock Holt).

The answer is obviously yes. For example after the 2012 season there were trade talks between the Padres with Headley and prospects for the Diamondbacks for Justin Upton. Fast forward to the middle of 2014 due to Headley's poor seasons, he got traded for a 26 year old "rookie" that was signed as a minor league FA before the season and a pitcher who wasn't even one of the Yankees' top 10 prospects. It was a huge fall for the Padres and Headley.

The Padres tried to sign Headley to an extension a few times but Headley kept rejecting them because he thought he was going to make more in the open market/thought he was worth more money and obviously the Padres held on to him with hope he would have regained his value after a poor 2013 season and then poor 2014 but never did.

The best time to have dealt Headley was after the 2012 season when he finished 5th in the MVP voting and had 2 years left until free agency.

You wonder who much Headley will get as a 30 year old FA, moving out of Petco should help but he'll probably have to sign a short term deal to try and reestablish his value again.

Yeah really not sure what the plan is for him. It's easy to say release him but truth be told the Yankees might actually need him and whatever is left in his bat. My guess is they bring him back and see if he can still produce first.

I hate the rain ending a game rule. 2-1 game where we easily could have lost later on, we got lucky especially against dervish and after last nights extra inning game. But we lost one of these games earlier so makes up for that
