Ken Berger reporting that as of now, Knicks have still not heard from Carmelo Anthony. The longer Carmelo dangles out there for no apparent reason, the stranger this whole thing becomes. He's visited the teams. He has the offers. He already plays "at home". So, what's the holdup?
I don't know or care anymore. Wake me up when this is all over. Suck of all these sources copying eachother but just pushing the story one step further pretending they know something.
You're smarter than to think all the media reports are true. Noone knows what will happen. If he was 100% sure about any destination he would have inked a deal. Same with Melo.
As torturous as this process has been, LeBatard's war with the city of Cleveland on twitter has been amazing. I particularly liked this one: And this retweet was classic:
@EthanJSkolnick 1h It's clear that Heat fans are at their breaking point when I'm getting tweets suggesting Stephenson as one of the LeBron replacements.
Lol...if he chooses Miami..they are gonna need to ship that owl off...otherwise I have a feeling he wont make it through the week
Ok, this is weird Per Phil Trexler of the ABJ (he is not the ABJ reporter Ethan has vouched for), Bath, OH police, which is the suburb of Akron where LeBron lives, were contacted by LeBron's people to alert them that an announcement is coming today and that police presence may be required. Cops are "expecting a celebration", but that is just a hunch and no one knows anything
The tweet I saw said that the police have decided to increase patrols around LeBron's home after 3pm. And if he announces he's staying in Miami, yeah I expect those patrol cars protecting LeBron's home are warranted.
If you read the series of tweets though, the reporter says the cops are expecting a celebration, but would people destroy his house if he was coming back? Now some scuttlebut flying on Twitter that 3:30 is the time. We'll see I suppose. Thank god Lebby is on the air then.
Oh I see now where Trexler says the police are expecting it to be a celebration, unlike in 2010. But one wonders if that is just the police speculating. They're fans, too.
Yeah, Trexler specifically says it's "just a hunch". Still think you need police more so if you're scared of people's reactions, but who knows
Yeah that one keeps confusing me as well. Melo ain't going to Cleveland.... Lebron ain't going to LA.... Melo seems very unlikely to come to Miami.... So what does one have to do with the other?
I really hate NBA free agency. I think I hate it more than I hate Stephen Ross...which is saying a lot.
Yeah, they wouldn't call the police up and say "LeBron is coming back to Cleveland, may wanna watch over that house in Akron..." Probably just suggested to be prepared and that is all that was said. Like you said, they're fans too so most will hope for the best like anyone would.
I thought Lebron's private plane was already flying straight to Brazil from Vegas...? But he's on the court in Vegas, playing ball?
Stephen A Smith speculates Lebron to Cleveland He was one of the first to originally get Lebron to Miami correct
Rooting for Lebron to stay if only to not validate Dan Gilbert as the righteous entitled slave owner. Those are his true colors which were so prominently and unabashedly put on display after the last go around. I could care less what Lebron decides to do at this point, and am extremely grateful for the entirety of his time here. Thanks for the memories. Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk
If Lebron leaves, none of you Heat fans can really be that upset I'd be content for the remainder of my life if the Dolphins had the four year run that the Heat just had
And, he's gonna be in Akron making an announcement from his house around 3:00PM, but it's now 2:21 EDT and he's still playing basketball in Vegas.
Nobody said he was going to be making the announcement from home. Just that an announcement were coming and police should be prepared. And the report from a guy Ethan vouches for, was that LJ cancelled his trip back to Akron before going to Rio and will now go directly from Vegas to Rio, whenever that may be.
