http://www.nfl.com/videos/n-if-l/09000d5d827197ce/N-if-L-What-if-Drew-Brees-signed-with-the-Dolphins Just saw this on Total Access. Sorry. Had to post.
Where would Brees be playing now if he had signed with the Phins? I really don't think he would still be in Miami. Brees and Payton seems like a match made in heaven. Brees and Saban seems like a match that might have left Brees questioning his desire to play the game.
I think Culpepper would be the Super Bowl MVP and Drew Brees' would be a free agent trying to get someone to sign him as a cheap back up. That's how our luck has worked out the past 2 decades.
Saw that video before. The Saban drama kills us going into 2007. Cam Cameron likely still become HC. Cameron may of had some success w/Brees, but he couldn't coach for **** and the players didn't respect him. Who knows how long he lasts... If he stays until 2008, Parcells becomes the VP of the Atlanta Falcons. We avoid Sparano and Ireland altogether. In 2009, Ross becomes the owner. Maybe he fires Cameron after 2009. Either way, I think Cameron doesn't last as long as TS did and we have a new HC in 2010 or 2011. Maybe with a coaching vacancy, Ross pulls the trigger on Harbaugh? Either way, I have a difficult time believing Brees would of enjoyed the same career he has in NO. Miami has made terrible front office and coaching decisions. He likely doesn't have the talent around him that he does in NO and never comes an elite QB. The marriage of Brees and Payton is a strong one.
On the other hand, if Brees HAD signed with us instead, and things had turned out better....Saban would likely still be here ???
Just blame Ross and Philbin for Brees not coming here, that seems to be the standard answer around here lately
If Brees signed with the Dolphins, he probably would of never broken any of those records he has. For some reason, when you come to the Dolphins, you become mediocre, just like the team.
If Brees would have passed his physical, Justin Bieber would have never gone public, there would be peace in the middle east, and Philbin would still be coaching for the 2010 Superbowl Runner Ups to the LA Dolphins. /argument
That's what happens when you don't have a GM who can't build properly and coach's who should stay coordinators.
Nick Saban was leaving after 2006 no matter what. Brees went on to break records after 06. Point still stands.
Not at the time he was hired no, but he was in the NFL at one time. I remember when Saban was at Michigan State, he was a prick there as well...same at LSU, so not sure what people thought was gonna change in the NFL.
Not getting Brees was a HUGE disappointment for me (especially suffering through the Henne years), but how bad Culpepper turned out was even a bigger disappointment overall...
