    Live from the Internet.
I think it was done early to send a message to the HEAT. So they knew that come Thursday, they got to be on their game. They knew that anyway, but I think he is just trying to make a point still. Still think he is coming back. Only way I see him leaving is if Bosh or Wade take the money.

IMO if this is the case AND they want Bazz they are going to have to move up....latest mocks have him in the early teens....I thought it was odd he was mid-20's for so long....

Question for those in the know. Does LeBron or anyone who opts out have to wait until July 1 to sign with any team or can he sign a new deal with his original team sooner than that?

Yes, he has to wait until free agency officially begins to sign a new deal.

All opting out early does is declare that you're forgoing the final year(s) left on your deal. I don't believe it lessens the cap hold or has any other benefit cap wise. As desides said you still have to wait til July 1 to sign or resign

Sounds like a cynical attempt by the Heat to tie up Opponents assets while they get ducks in a row to make a run at certain free agents.

They did this in 2010 with Bosh and Wade. Chicago was so upset by it that they complained to the Heat and pulled Wade's contract offer. NY saw right through it. Chicago caught on late because Leon Rose had his office in Chicago and was perceived as an honest dealer.

Ideally...Lebron should have opted out tomorrow, and I suspect he was told to make it public tomorrow. But Rich Paul has some idiots in his office that leak like a sieve.

He can sign a new deal before then...but it seriously hampers the Heat's ability to have favorable language/bonuses/ structure.

In short...serves both sides best to wait till July 1st and new League year.

Sec's been saying he's going nowhere the whole time. I'm a born worrier so I won't breathe easy until the ink is dry but Sec knows his stuff so take solace.

Me too. It may not seem it from my brash outward attitude but internally I mull over every possible negative outcome repeatedly. So even though I'm very confident he goes nowhere I want that deal signed.

Not really. A lot of people assumed he was leaving Cleveland due to the whole decision thing.

Almost no insiders assume he is leaving Miami.

Of course you would say 50/50 because you have so much wishful thinking desperation, that it is seeping out of you onto a message board.

He really is an egomaniac if he has no intention to leave. Having his wife tease Akron and Cleveland then removing all references to Miami off his twitter handle. I wonder if he gets pleasure teasing fans, getting attention then toying with fans. I would say the odds of him leaving are more than 5% based on how he has acted since the finals ended and Riley's plea to the team and press conference. Schizophrenia is a strong word but maybe narcissist is a better word to use and if that's the case nobody should feel safe until the ink is dry.

Nobody ever said he wasn't a drama queen.

I in fact have made mention to many on here that some that have dealt with him, consider him an *******.

I know for a fact that his "management" team are a collection of douchebags. (I know this firsthand)

So if you know this for a fact, how could you think it's a 5% chance? With that type of entourage and his desire to be the center of attention, you have variables in play that can swing it from 1% to 99% in heartbeat.

The fact that our fanbase is often mocked and full of bandwagon fans, with a lower bowl filled up with botox may influence him as well.. Imagine the idolatry someone like Lebron would feel in Chicago or New York?

lol. You act as if i have a vested interest in him coming to LA. As if i have season tickets behind Jack Nicholson. I just think the NBA is more fun to watch if the Lakers are relevant.

Can't wait for the Cavs to trade the top pick for Love only to get spurned by LBJ, Love leaves next offseason and Kyrie force his way out right after that.

At least we still have Dion Waiters. He isn't any good, but holy hell is he entertaining.

You think the most hated athlete in sports is sensitive to the fanbase getting mocked? He sucks it up, probably thinks we should too.

I can't help but think Luol Deng would be one hell of an addition for the Heat if they can swing it.

It's their main target. Can they land him?..gonna be tough if there is a lot of competition for him.

Heat have inside track on recruitment.

    Top target?

    Sweet!

Seems to make more sense than the Carmelo thing but admittedly the only reason the Melo thing never made sense to me is I just can't see guys washing their hands of tens of millions of dollars. Millions as in single-digit millions, ok I guess I can see that happening...but tens of millions?

If that "pipe dream" actually could happen somehow...it's not like anyone reasonable could be against it. Deng just seems SLIGHTLY more realistic while still being borderline miraculous if it worked out.

Sorry if I've said this before, but why isn't Atlanta discussed as an LBJ option? I was under impression they had cap space. Teague-Korver-LBJ-Milsap-Horford is kind of amazing. They're in the East. Seems like an awesome fit.
