Sox may give Middlebrooks some time in the OF while he's rehabbing his broken finger. Why not at this point?
BTW. Got some personal video of Dante Bichette Jrs. swing during the HR Derby. Going to probably analyze it tomorrow. Ill post my findings on here.
Please do!! I dont expect anything much from him but he is having a bounce back year so hopefully there is so hope...
Hughes at the Fens tonight....I might watch some of it, as he usually gets beat up by them....My prediction? He no-hits the Sox....
Last time out he went 6 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 run with 0 walks and 8 K's. For his career in 23 games the Sox are hitting .279/.332/.445 off of him. Of course the 2014 Red Sox aren't the offensive force they usually are. So I wouldn't be shocked if any pitcher no hit them this year.
Pretty happy with the way both RDLR and Workman have been throwing this year. RDLR has an electric arm, if he can continue to throw strikes and can work in the slider as a solid 3rd pitch, with that change up of his he could be a #2. Also looks like Ranuado, Webster and Henry Owens are having solid years so far in the minors. I bet Owens will be promoted to Triple A later this year if another PawSox gets promoted to the MLB or if there's an injury. Here's an article about that pitching depth: http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/b...epth-charge-importance-rubby-de-la-rosa-and-f
While the Red Sox continue to wait on Brandon Workman's appeal of 6 games, MLB punishment policies continue to be inconsistent: Hopefully when there's a new MLB commissioner stuff like this gets fixed as it seems like whoever is in charge of the penalties, I think it's Joe Torre, seems to be picking suspensions/fines out of a hat.
I dont think there will ever be a perfect system and i dont see how you can have one when people are judging intent. Also in a game when you have players like Victorino last year who made a living practically standing on the plate almost begging to get hit......
It was the right move to make, he just missed way too much time with injuries that his body just isn't the same. Shocked he stayed healthy this year though.
Not asking for a perfect system, just a consistent one. Workman gets suspended for throwing but not hitting Longoria while Abad doesn't get a thing for throwing but not hitting Machado twice and now Masset gets three games for hitting a Brave. Just want consistency here. With the current system in place it seems like: Putting pine tar on yourself in a visible place is worse than throwing at a batter but missing which is worse than throwing your bat at an opponent which is worse than actually hitting a batter which is worse than throwing at a batter twice and missing which is worse than being the first pitcher to purposely hit a batter. Something isn't right.
Will be interesting to see what penalties, if any, Marshall of the Diamondbacks get for throwing one pitch behind Braun, the home plate ump goes out to talk to him and the next pitch hits Braun in the butt and gets tossed.
Phil Hughes did great....I totally blame the NY organization....Hughes had all the tools, for him to go out there and do what he did last year I blame those who are in charge of development.... I swear if Jesus himself came up with a 100 velo and a 12-6 they couldn't develop him....
Hughes was a terrible fit for YS, he's a fly ball pitcher that LHHs hit well. The main difference between Hughes this year is that he's a strike throwing machine, he has 8 walks in over 80 IPs, which is something the Twins stress a lot. I don't blame the Yankees for Hughes. The guy obviously needed to get out of NY. I do however think the Yankees ruined Joba by jerking him around so much between SP and RP with the Joba Rules and innings/pitch count limits. As for Jesus, he'd probably need a 3rd pitch, even if it was a show me slider or change up, or the AL East would get to him.
The Jays have certainly come back down to earth in the past 2 weeks huh? It's going to be a dog fight until the last day. I think the only team right now that doesn't have a realistic shot is TB. I'm sure their fire sale will be coming up in 3 weeks or so.
BTW, I am not usually this bad of a speaker for the videos with my clients. Just didnt care as much with you guys.
This is crap and I want my money back! Not bad analysis though. He has an obvious dip in his swing that, like you said, will hurt him when he faces better pitchers that have 2nd and 3rd pitches. I don't love his swing at all, like you pointed out he's not balanced and commits too early.
It's been awhile but let's play "Fun with numbers": Player A: 23 years old 160 games 690 PA 71 runs 141 hits 40 2B 2 3B 23 HR 80 RBI 2 SB 76 BB 127 K .233/.323/.419/.742 Player B: 24 years old 69 games 302 PA 46 runs 69 hits 10 2B 1 3B 14 HR 38 RBI 1 SB 47 BB 58 K .278/.401/.496/.897 Player A is Anthony Rizzo in 2013, Player B is Anthony Rizzo so far in 2014. This is why we don't give up on young prospects after a bad year (or even 2). Hopefully next year I can do a Player A and B with JBJ.
Keep an eye out for 17 year old Rafael Devers of the Sox. He could be the next big thing in their system: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=devers000raf He's getting promoted to Single A after only 17 games in the Dominican League.
I love it Nappy, love it.....I wanna send you my swing because my hitting in softball this years blows rod....
hahah I don't drink there, too long of a ride home and I work in the field, should probably set the example...
So Ortiz went baby on the scorekeeper? Seems like ole Joe could have fined him for the thumbs down thing but didn't... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp...tebook_id=81273904&vkey=notebook_bos&c_id=bos
That's typical Ortiz right there. You take the good with the bad but yeah the guy does have his moments where you just have to shake your head. You'd think that one hit or one RBI wouldn't be that big of a deal but I guess it does.
