Good observations. Thanks. Another factor is that both realized they would be free agents and played with great hunger. But, then, having signed their big contracts, did not have the zeal or passion or dedication to be what they could be. This is, I believe, a fundamental challenge in free agency: you can sign a player who flashes to a big contract, but unless you really do your homework, there's no telling what the impact of that contract will have on the player. To think that it isn't a factor (as some do) is simply unrealistic. When there is great opportunity or great fear of losing that opportunity, motivation is high (I exclude QB here to a degree because that is such a cerebral position it requires a great deal of confidence). But, when players cash in - the reality is, most of them simply don't play to their previous level.
This is Moreno at last week's OTA, not today, but figured you can provide a synopsis: Not sure I see what Armando sees, but hey...
Tannehill hooked up with Wallace for 3 touchdowns at practice today. Hartline also caught a TD over the middle. Nice showing from the offense. Looking forward to tomorrow and Thursday's practices.
Thing w/Ellerbe, iirc, he had a torn pec or some other serious injury around the middle of the season, to me, he looked to hesitant in Coyle's D, esp in coverage like he did not know his assignments.
ah so shatzier all of a sudden is 6-6 and 265 ? combination of size and speed thats what DJ was talking about
for a man this size and height, I call it balanced agility in all aspects of his football movement, there isn't a movement that he not only can't do from a position standpoint, it's how well and coordinated he looks in doing so.. Lets break it down.. We know the kid had the athleticism to play tight end, he got a big time scholarship on that type of moment from a great coach so we know he has the coordination and talent to play there.. We know he can play defensive end, come around the edge and position his body relative to the ground that is almost parallel. We know he can play Inside linebacker, see it, stay low and explode to the ball carrier and finish with great tackling technique. We know he can run horizontally and chase sideline to sideline, I've seen him literally go sideways 6 feet in one burst. We know he can line up at corner, position his body and show technique like a player 6 inches shorter..I've seen him back pedal and close on the ball, I've seen him set up on the perimeter in a beautiful crouch position ready to jam with technique , then blitz off that same perimeter and reach the Qb. I know This sound ridiculous but if I could invent a position it would be a full time spy position.
Not worried about Moreno from what I see, it's not too bad, sometimes these dudes gain weight to lift a little heavier in the offseason, then when the drop they got that bit of added strength and size when they cut up.
I think the new colors look prissy. Great for a cheerleading squad, not a football team. Hate the new blue.
I hate the new blue (aqua supposedly) too. Give me the exact same aqua as during the 1970s and I'll be happy. In the late 80s and through the 90s it did seem to morph into more a green IMO too, which is why some guys would refer to our color as teal instead of aqua.
That's what Blomar and his cronies are calling fat around the middle and looking out of shape??????? We should all look so out of shape.
I agree. He certainly doesn't look global around the midsection, or rotund, or obese, which is what I was expecting hearing the comments. But now, whether it's the local papers, blogs like Phinsider, or ESPN, the running narrative seems to be that Moreno does not look good... Lamar Miller is getting extra reps because of how out of shape Moreno is... etc. If that picture is indicative, yeah, he might have to shed a few lbs. but it's nothing drastic. Now, if he's moving real slow, running sluggish, can't get open, slow to his blocks, isn't up to speed on the new offense, anything like that, they should just say that instead of how heavy he looks, because I don't think he looks that heavy.
I aspire to being that out of shape. Having said that, I sure hope he comes/came in as a pro's pro, in shape and ready to take the starting job and set the tone.
RBs in August are gonna struggle to keep their weight up. IF...there is any excess weight there it will soon be gone once training camp gets into full swing.
Agreed.. Would it be nice that he was shredded all year long, sure, but we don't know if this extra weight is part of his training, when he shows up at training camp and he's like that then I would have a problem.. I don't believe anyone should use camp as their vehicle to get in shape, that's BS, and that's why I was pisssed that year when Ronnie brown did.
just played 2 hours of basketball, got my workout in for the day, its 20 minutes till OTA´s don´t know if we start a new thread or post the new stuff in here, but keep the tweets comin
