Marino, on the other hand, BEAT the '85 Bears.

Was that the last he did of any iota of significance?

This team hasn't had a whole lot of success over the last how many years? Marino may not accomplish anything but what does it hurt. Maybe Marino can lend some credibility to the team much like Elway did with Denver. If nothing else it will give us someone new to blame for the Dolphins misfortunes.

Dan built Joe Robbie stadium, has a hospital for autistic children in Miami! He is a real hero down there and I'm sure we could find a way to utilize him! He would be great as a pr type!

Might as well bring Shula back then. I don't necessarily agree with Stringer, but time away from something does usually worsen your ability to do it. Coaches get worse at coaching in the midst of coaching.

I think if you got it you got it, but like I said if the absence of action atrophied the hunger or passion then your right, but what if the absense makes the hunger stronger after a time spent away...

I will tell you what I don't like though, and that is, coaches coach, if they were truly passionate could they really stay away this long?...that makes me question his motives.

I'm not really sure where I implied that he would be doing the same tasks he currently does. I suggested he might have gotten the Dolphins a meeting with Manning even though he didn't have an official role with the team. I would assume if he were a part of the front office that could have meant more to Manning. And that's just a very small part of the point I was trying to make. Not every person in a front office makes the decisions about who to draft or sign. There are plenty of roles Marino would fill if given a job in the FO.

lets keep in mind that Marino has several people around him that could have signed Dan up to fall a lawsuit and Dan may not have been aware of this.

Vermeil was out for a long time (15 yrs) but came back and won a Super Bowl. Joe Gibbs' comeback was less successful.

WTF? I must have missed that episode of Boston Legal or Perry Mason. The one where someone else, unbeknownst to you, could file a lawsuit on your behalf.

I've been all about this since the rumor began last year. Unfortunately right now it's just a rumor as this is like the 5th different time in the last 5 months I've heard that he was about to be hired.

I'm hoping it comes true this time.

Everytime I think of the Phins I think of Marino. He will always be the face of that franchise just like Elway was with the Broncos.
