Agreed. I saw we were running some read-option stuff. Which makes my nipples hard.

I thought I read that Thigpen is nursing an injury that's why he's not there... Thigpen fans had better hope that's the case

The defense is always ahead of the offense at first. Plus they're installing new plays and have a bunch of new starters. Omar saying "seen this before" about the first pass at OTAs is childish. I love how he says things like "Tannehill throws high to WR, he needs more accuracy," and a minute later "Moore throws just a bit too high, but the WR needs to come down with it, this is the NFL."

No worries, I just saw the same tweet. I'd imagine that'd be the case based on offseason speculation.

Things I like hearing today already are:
Dallas Thomas playing LG, should be there all year and I actually think he can start there especially if he put on the muscle he needed too in the offseason. I actually would love Thomas to win the LG spot and force Turner over to the RG spot. This would be best for the line even with Smith on the team.

Egnew splitting out to the slot. Imagine using a guy to his strengths instead of trying to get him to do something he's not. I think Clay and Egnew in 2 TE sets will be a pretty good staple in this offense, which both can and will flourish.

Dion Jordan is jacked up, that's what I was hoping for, hit that gym and become a star.

we must have one of the youngest o line groups in the league. The guys with the most tenure are Albert and Garner at 7. We've got 15 offensive linemen, SEVEN rookies. Another three, I believe, that haven't started a game. So that's only five players that have started an NFL game... wow.

    To add:

Moving our WRs around pre-snap is huge. Throwing to Moreno out of the backfield adds another element. Misi at MLB is interesting. Hartline and Gibson both practicing is big. And Landry playing well with the vets on the field, and playing both slot and outside.

I've always liked Armon Binns. His biggest problem is staying healthy. I think our GM/Coach is going to have a tough time deciding on who and how many WR's we keep.

James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL 43s It looks like Cortland Finnegan is the starting CB today opposite Brent Grimes. The competition begins. #Dolphins

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 52s
Ellerbe and Wheeler are the outside linebackers.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 1m
Misi lines up at middle linebacker on first drill.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 3m
First-string defense: Wake, Starks, Mitchell, Vernon, Wheeler, Misi, Ellerbe, Finnegan, Grimes, Jones, Delmas.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL 3m
DE Dion Jordan hit the weight room this offseason. From my view, his upper body looks noticeably bigger than last season. #Dolphins

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 53s
Free-agent pickup and DT Earl Mitchell is working early with the first-team D. Randy Starks and Jared Odrick will rotate. #DolphinsOTAs

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 10m
Good sign for the Dolphins: Hartline and Gibson, both coming off knee injuries, are dressed for practice.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
I can't believe my eyes. Dallas Thomas is getting A LOOK on the first team at left guard. Interesting. #DolphinsOTAs

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 8m
Dolphins legend Jason Taylor is out at practice. Volunteer coach?

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 19s
#Dolphins HC Joe Philbin is back on the practice field after missing Friday due to a personal matter. He's closely monitoring the offense.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 3m
Nate Garner is also working as a left guard, but I can't tell if he's second or third team right now. It is too early.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 5m
Dallas Thomas is working as a left guard, going back to his old spot at Tennessee

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 6m
Armon Binns, who suffered an ACL tear last training camp, is working with the team now.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 7m
Rishard Matthews remains the starting slot receiver, finishing the season off in his old spot.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 3m
Brandon Gibson who tore his ACL at midseason, is here. But I haven't noticed him working.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 26s
Shelley Smith is smaller than Mike Pouncey. That is a bit surprising. Pouncey does look bigger, stronger.

    Matty I ‏@TheMattyI · 1m
Regarding Misi at MLB, the experiment is underway. But will be become more than an experiment or will it die on the vine?

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 12s
Brandon Gibson has his helmet, so I assume he's working today.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 37s
It looks like #Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson will do some work today in practice. He's dressed and wearing his helmet.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 1m
Dallas Thomas is taking LG snaps with the second team so far.

Ryan Tannehill is showing off his arm. CLEARLY he has the best arm in camp. pic.twitter.com/n1UDo2u0VS

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 30s
Marcus Thigpen is the only absence. He has been dealing with back issues, as @flasportsbuzz has reported.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 39s
Three players are working with trainers off to the side: Odrick, Lynch and Tariq Edwards.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 1m
KR/PR Marcus Thigpen not at practice so far.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 56s
Jared Odrick, LBer. Tariq Edwards and rookie TE Arthur Lynch are working their rehab assignment today. They are apparently injured.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 19s
C Mike Pouncey definitely looks heavier in mid-section & legs. Not sure if it's good weight or bad weight.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 42s
Dolphins defensive backs are working on their backpedal. pic.twitter.com/AOUoEbCC5i

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 40s
Former #Dolphins great Jason Taylor is out here helping with the defensive line. He looks like he can still play, great shape.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
#Dolphins second-year CBs Will Davis and Jamar Taylor look healthy. Both are moving around well in drills.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 23s
#Dolphins have MLB Jason Trusnik, SLB Jelani Jenkins & WLB Jonathan Freeny together, likely as 2nd team.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 52s
Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner look identical on the field. Same height, one pound difference. Both have dreads. Playing the same spot.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 46s
I swear, Mike Pouncey looks like he's ready to play on Sunday. He seems to be in great shape. Killing every drill.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 1m
MLB Jordan Tripp, SLB Chris McCain, WLB Derrell Johnson might be 3rd team LBs.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 34s
Shelley Smith is manning the right guard spot. It is a struggle for me to figure out who his competition is right now.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Jordan Tripp continues to work as an inside linebacker. He's third team right now.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 27s
#Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill and LT Branden Albert are talking to each other in between drills. Important for them to be on the same page.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 29s
Dallas Thomas is the starting left guard on the first day of OTAs.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 50s
Ja'Wuan James and Dallas Thomas are your starting RT and LG.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 45s
First OL: RT James, RG Brenner, C Pouncey, LG Dallas Thomad, LT Albert.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 42s
Shelley Smith is at right guard. Albert and James are the tackles, obviously.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 31s
Dallas Thomas gets first-team reps at LG again. Subject to change, of course, but I'm still surprised. #Dolphins

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 22s
Earl Mitchell is a lot smaller than I expected. Not saying he's small for a DT, but he's 6-3, 300.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 52s
    Read option.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 38s
CB Cortland Finnegan, FS Louis Delmas on 1st team defense. DT Earl Mitchell starting in place of Odrick.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 38s
CB Will Davis just had nice coverage. Looking smooth so far.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 34s
TE Charles Clay false start wipes out short pass to Knowshon Moreno. But Moreno looking sharp.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 24s
Michael Egnew is lining up out wide A LOT. I think his role is evolving. Chip Kelly's offense uses the TEs to do a lot of things.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 9s
Just saw Sam Brenner give Pat Devlin a high snap. If he's going to make the 53 he needs to snap cleanly. Not going to cut it.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 10s
Nate Garner is getting reps as the backup LT behind Branden Albert. #DolphinsOTAs

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 12s
I'm watching new offensive line drills. Very intriguing stuff.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 4s
Jared Odrick is getting some practice reps in during position drills.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 8s
The Dolphins nickel now features Koa Misi and Philip Wheeler? That's a head scratcher. pic.twitter.com/Rmo1baEHU4

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 33s
Will Davis is Brent Grimes' backup. And Jamar Taylor is Cortland Finnegan's backup.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 32s
Another bad snap by Sam Brenner. SMH.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
For what it's worth, Lamar Miller is getting first-team reps at RB. That will probably change by Sept. #Dolphins

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Michael Egnew is getting reps with the starters, paired with Charles Clay.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 58s
A lot of double tight end look today -- clay and either Egnew or Sims.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 21s
Dallas Thomas is looking spry. Just got to the second level on Ellerbe. Could be a true competition with Turner.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 26s
The Dolphins signed DT Micajah Reynolds, OT Michael Philipp and O-lineman Samuel Longo from rookie tryout last weekend.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 18s
Looks like Gibson's workload will be light today. No longer wearing a helmet.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 48s
I'm liking the multiple formations in Bill Lazor's offense. Last year things became so predictable under Mike Sherman. #DolphinsOTAs

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 58s
The starters are working on the far field and Joe Philbin is watching the backups.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 55s
Gibson not getting much work in drills.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
Dion Jordan actually looks like a full-fledged NFL defensive end. He's definitely on upper-body muscle. #DolphinsOTAs

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 47s
Interesting mix on last 11-on-11 drills. Had 1st team offense vs. 1st team defense except for RB Knowshon Moreno.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 22s
WR Brandon Gibson sitting out this part of drills. Seems to be precautionary.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 1m
Center Mike Pouncey, who must undergo "medical" evaluation per NFL, is scheduled to speak to reporters after practice today.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 11s
#Dolphins WR Armon Binns is practicing without restriction today. Good news for him. He's on the roster bubble.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 15s
Jimmy Wilson remains the starting nickel. No surprise there. Problem is I can't figure out his other roles so far.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 30s
Jason Trusnik is apparently the backup inside linebacker. He's paired with Jelani Jenkins at WLBer and Jonathan Freeny at SLBer.

    Barry Jackson ‏@flasportsbuzz · 17s
Joe philbin invited jason taylor to observe and assist today (with def line), as pennington did with qbs last offseason

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 28s
Jimmy Wilson is the backup free safety and he's paired with Don Jones, who is apparently Reshad Jones' backup.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 30s
This new WR Stephen Williams is HUGE. He's 6-foot-5 and towering over the other receivers. Armon Binns is the 2nd biggest at 6-3.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 53s
Ryan Tannehill overthrows an open Mike Wallace during 7-on-7. Where have I seen this before?

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 25s
Ryan Tannehill holds onto the ball too long during 7-on-7, scrambles right and throws a high pass to an open Binns, who drops it.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 33s
Tannehill overthrows Wallace on deep route. Seen this before.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 9s
#Dolphins have 7 new starters for now -- LT Albert, LG Thomas, RG Smith, RT James, RB Moreno, CB Finnegan, FS Delmas.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 10s
Play No. 3 Tannehill hits an open Charles Clay for a respectable gain during 7-on-7. There is now rush....THROW THE BALL.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 2m
#Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill goes deep for Mike Wallace on 7-on-7...But the ball is overthrown.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 18s
Mike Wallace gets moved to the left side of Tannehill. My jaw drops. How original. WRs can actually be moved?

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
#Dolphins DB Don Jones is getting a look at safety with the second team.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 1m
WR Jarvis Landry has looked good at slot WR & outside WR

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Jamar Taylor drops an interception on a Tannehill pass. He jumped the route to Wallace.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 26s
Matt Moore bullets a pass inside to Rishard Matthews, who gets popped by Michael Thomas.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 38s
Fifth round pick LB Jordan Tripp is working at MLB.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 57s
Nice outside pass to Kevin Cone from Matt Moore. First down gain.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 10s
QB Pat Devlin still the sharpest among the guys vying for 3rd QB. Throwing crisp passes and firm on decision-making.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 5s
Philip Wheeler breaks up a Tannehill pass to Charles Clay, which was telegraphed.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 13s
Cortland Finnegan drops a possible interception on Tannehill. Ball was thrown behind his receiver.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Matt Moore is back and his first pass of his next 7-on-7 rep was a high one over the middle that Matt Hazel brings down. He strays the next.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
#Dolphins rookie WR Jarvis Landry is working inside the slot and outside in team drills today.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 2m
WR Armon Binns getting brief look at slot WR. Stands out b/c he's 6-3, and wearing reflective orange leggings.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
Random #Dolphins note: Punter Brandon Fields can still boom it.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 25s
Good OTA practice so far for the #Dolphins. They've had a good mix of team and individual work. I saw some interesting developments.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 43s
Not surprisingly, Knowshon Moreno is running with the first team offense.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 1m
Dion Jordan looks like he took an air pump to his arms and shoulders. Second year DE looks way bigger.

Not sure exactly what I'm going to get from Ja'Wuan James vs Cameron Wake. Wake is notoriously a bad practice performer.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
WR Mike Wallace beats CB Cortland Finnegan for a first down in team drills.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 57s
Starks just plowed over Billy Turner. But that's to be expected this early.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 25s
It's now Billy Turner, not Dallas Thomas at LG. I bet this rotation is a preview of training camp. One of few true battles on offense.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 42s
DE Cam Wake just blew past G Shelley Smith on inside stunt.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Cameron Wake plays with a violent nature he clearly can't recreate in practice. Players rarely ever struggle vs him in practice.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 16s
Now rookie Billy Turner is getting reps at LG with the first team. Dallas Thomas got the first crack at it. #Dolphins

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 12s
Tannehill just hit Jarvis Landry on a quick hitter to the sideline. RAC would have gotten Landry about 20. Nice play.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 36s
Wow. Landry just went in motion on four-WR set. Promising. Maybe we'll es that w/Mike Wallace, too.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Dolphins are back to doing the fast paced, split field stuff they did in Philbin's rookie years. Fast paced practice pic.twitter.com/MXLegzhkOg

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero · 1m
Billy Turner at first team LG now with Dallas Thomas at second team LG. as I said earlier, mixing and matching during OTAs.

    Chris Perkins ‏@chrisperk · 1m
WR Rantavious Wooten making some nice receptions on the "JV" field. Starters on varsity field.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 24s
Wow. Just noticed Terrence Fede is towering over Derrick Shelby, his main competition for a spot on the 53. He's 2 inches taller.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
#Dolphins DE Dion Jordan eats up LT Nate Garner for a would-be sack on QB Ryan Tannehill.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Just saw Ryan Tannehill scramble for the 2nd time during 11-on-11s. The man has wheels. No clue why they rarely used them last season.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 11s
Watching Damien Williams, Brent Grimes, Brian Hartline and Jarvis Landry handle punts. NO MARCUS THIGPEN.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 2m
Brandon Gibson is on the sideline for most of practice. He didn't some individual work, but no teams or special teams. Still in rehab mode.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 1m
#Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey is intently watching practice on the sideline.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 50s
#Dolphins WRs Damian Williams and Jarvis Landry are fielding punts today.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Got to admit, I'm a little uneasy with Damian Williams. He double catches just about everything, including punts.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 33s
To @iHeartMiko Brent always practice punt returns, going back to last year. He gets bored easily, as I'm aware you know.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 15s
Cortland Finnegan looks so much bigger than I remember him. Last time I saw him he was frustrating the crap out of Brandon Marshall.

Towards the end of practice, #Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill throws a pick to CB Cortland Finnegan.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 33s
Cortland Finnegan just began the final 11-on-11 session picking off Tannehill. Hakuna Matata.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 41s
Play two Philip Wheeler destroys a screen pass to Lamar Miller for a would be loss.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 4s
Jimmy Wilson gets physical with Jarvis Landry and Tannehill's third throw is incomplete. Landry working as the starting slot?

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 12s
#Dolphins CB Cortland Finnegan jumped the route on a nice play and INT.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 12s

Matt Moore throws a beautiful 20 yard floater to Damian Williams. Threw a covered WR open.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 20s
Nice catch for a big gain by WR Damian Williams on a pretty pass from QB Matt Moore. #Dolphins

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 15s
Jamar Taylor busts up a quick hitch to Damian Williams for a would-be loss.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 39s
#Dolphins QB Matt Moore throws another pretty deep ball to WR Armon Binns for a TD.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 38s
Matt Moore floats a TD pass to Armon Binns for 80. How Binns got so far behind Jamar Taylor is unknown. Great play on a deep ball.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Tannehill is back after Matt Moore killed his rep. First pass is a first down to Charles Clay. No blankie for Tannehill today by the way.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 57s
#Dolphins WR Mike Wallace isn't stationary. I've seen him line up in multiple spots today in MIA's new offense.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 1m
Is it a coincidence how mediocre Ryan Tannehill performs without Brian Hartline? Question I'll let you ponder.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 50s
Nate Garner getting a look at RT now. He's played both sides today with the backups. #Dolphins

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 3s
Evan Finkenberg opens up a nice hole for Orleans Darkwa on the left side of the O-line.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly · 49s
Great diving catch from Matt Hazel on a pass from Pat Devlin that died in the air.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL · 22s
The #Dolphins conclude practice. Productive day.

AJ Francis was the guy who had a great camp and then was signed off our practice squad to the pats right? Is he likely to stick it out further this year?

Love seeing the mentoring from Finnegan. He'll be worth his contract if he can help the younger guys be better players.

Still rooting for Egnew the underdog, nice to hear he's being used in passing game.

Omar Kelly's bias against Tannehill is one of many reasons I dislike the guy so much. Always criticism something. Even when he compliments him, there is always a slight hidden in the meaning. Such a douche.

Things I took from today, most of which is confirmation of what we already knew:

    1. The linebacker rotation went from rumor to reality. Misi is in the middle and Ellerbe is on the outside.
    2. Garner is viewed as the swing tackle backup as well as a competitor at left guard.
    3. Most of the competition at left guard will primarily focus on Billy Turner vs Dallas Thomas.
    4. Earl Mitchell is being slid directly into Soliai's spot. Starks and Odrick will maintain similar roles to a year ago.
    5. The coaches seem to want Jamar Taylor to win the nickel corner job.

I'm not going to get caught up in what player looks beefy or which player beat which player, etc. I'm not going to get caught up in red herring talk about tempo or receivers moving here or there.

Today is all about catching our first glimpse of the coaching staff's intentions on how they're going to use the roster Dennis Hickey has put together. Take anything more than that out of today at your own risk.
