7-9 may be generous IMO. A lot of things would have to go very, very , "right", for 2014 to be a winning season. We lost to the Bills twice last year and the Jet's are much improved. Patriots are always a tough win. It will depend on RT mostly, and sorry, but I've never been a fan. IMO, RT will never be a top tier QB and greatness is out of the question. If we had an excellent defense this offense could win a lot of games, but Coyle continues to force his 3-4 talent to play in a 4-3.
You are something else....I honestly can't even say what I think without getting in trouble. Just know you're so far off base you've been labeled AWOL.
In order for us to get to the playoffs, I think we need.. 1) Lazor/Tannehill/Wallace to get on the same page with the deep ball. ..and.. 2) Someone to emerge as a shutdown corner opposite Brent Grimes. Otherwise, I think we'll just have another mediocre season.
Oakland, Jacksonville, and Minnesota should all be wins. 6 games vs. NYJ, NE, and Buffalo, I should hope we'll go 4-2 at worst, but lets call it 3-3. That's 6. Then you have some toss ups like Chicago, San Diego, Detroit, KC, and Baltimore. For us to win 7 games, everything will have to go to hell with this team. 11 wins if everything goes very well. I think 9 is a more realistic #, sadly.
I love the smell of Dolfan Negativity..it smells..like us Fix the OL, everything will be fine afterwards
I asked a homeless man what the Dolphins record will be this year and he said 10-6. If someone can convince me why the validity of a sports genius should be highly regarded over a non-sports following homeless man, I`m all ears.
should someone predicting us to finish with the same record we've basically had every season for the last half decade really be considered negativity?
Our schedule is rough and the division is getting harder, I could see a 7-8 win season even if some areas of the team improve. Then again with some luck and improvement a 10 win season isn't far fetched either.
For all we know our schedule will be easy and the Jets, Bills and Patriots have huge set backs. You never know from year to year. We will find out.
10 reasons the 2014 Dolphins will be better than the 2013 Dolphins. 1) Lazor 2) Incognito gone/Martin gone 3) LB situation can only get better. Coaches know what they have now. 4) Young corners may surprise. NC was no big loss. We won't miss him. 5) Moreno/Miller will be a HUGE upgrade over Miller/Thomas 6) Tannehill/Wallace chemistry and timing in year 2 should be better 7) Landry will have an impact of some kind. WR corp is better than last year. 8) OL should be improved. Nowhere else to go but up. 9) Tannehill should be better in year 3. Remember he has not even been a QB for very long. 10) Dionne Jordan. Time to unleash him on the world. Expect big things. Honestly, the 2013 team wasn't very good, regardless of the window of hope we had at the end in the last 2 games. The team had no OL, poor LB play, no running game, and could've just as easily started 0-3 instead of 3-0. Whatever happens, we should have an upgrade to last year.
I think 3-3 is reasonable but 4-2 at worst? We were 2-4 in the division last year and we did have issues but so did the other three teams, all of which have seemingly improved as well. Pretty much how I feel. The offensive line issues were so bad that an improvement there may be enough to make the playoffs, even with a schedule that looks fairly tough at the moment. I can't really fault the media for picking 7-9 though.
The over-under for the Dolphins in Las Vegas is seven and a half for the 2014 season. So I suspect the majority of those who actually bet on teams tend to think that the Dolphins will probably finish around 500 once again this coming season. I think most fans of the NFL are expecting the Dolphins to be 7-9 or 8-8 and would quite surprised if the Dolphins actually have a winning season. Many Dolphin fans obviously are expecting more wins, but fans of every team always go into every season expecting their team to have a winning season and make the playoffs. Unfortunately, the majority of the teams in the NFL usually end up 500 or below. My prediction for 2014 has been 7-9 or 8-8 ever since last season ended and I still figure that is about where this team will finish the season. That being stated, I certainly hope the 2014 Dolphins prove with completely wrong in my prediction and instead win enough games to make the playoffs.
It depends on coaching. We lost games last year because our team seemed unmotivated and unprepared. We have some talent but I think our head coach is suspect.
On here? not all the time ! What I know , is that once again we probably have more questions than answers and that isn't a good thing of course . Especially whatever year , version this , trying to be a legitimate factor is. Sure things "could" fall right and we have a chance for 10 wins but they could also go one up one down and we tread water at 7 and 9 , or 8 and 8 . IMO , obviously the OLINE has to jell and 17 has to be more productive and take another solid step forward and some offensive skill positions have to be more of a factor to be a playoff concern. We've got some pass rush and the potential for that to be quite good , we'll need it as the rest of the D has issues as I see it. Don't see enough to think we get double digit wins let alone bank on it , but of course there is the chance . A lot has to go right though . Like I said more questions than answers.
You know D22, no BS, I have the same sort of gut feeling this year More Q's than A's, Philbin and the Staff, imo, approach is a bit bizarre to me, holding players back for a yr, drafting guys with high picks who rarely play b/c a pretty good Vet is ahead of them. It is an odd approach, very very Old School, it's the way Brown or Buono would approach things. Not sure it translates to the way the NFL works today, he hit on Vernon with this approach, Miller did not do as well as hoped neither did Martin..took Matthews forever to see the field and Dallas Thomas and Dion Jordan did the best vanishing act in Miami since the heady days of Lorenzo Booker. Toss in, unlike Buono or Brown, Philbin is very hesitant to bench a Vet..this is a very very murky season heading into it.
This teams rests on the jump in play of Ryan and Dion.. If those two dudes take ownership and start making plays, the rest will fall in line.
/that and the running game must improve..not blaming Thomas/Miller outright, am saying our Rb production was beyond subpar..that would make us far more difficult to defend. And TBH..ST..lost us games..I've harped on the fact a good ST unit wins 4 games a yr, a bad one can cost 2 losses or more..
Eh, I'm a Thiggy fan, yr before it was he could not handle punts, last yr it was he did not see holes Will say he should face competition, new KO rules means a "pure" returner is rare, has to do other things to keep his spot
I think he is a poor decision maker. Catches balls he shouldn't, let balls bounce and roll that he should catch.
Not sure what he has been told to do, and this past season he did not let balls hit the ground. For me, what bothers is very little offensive contribution, that has to improve or he should be replaced, like his returner game, unless you are Devon Hester tho..it's not good enough
The 2013 Miami Dolphins are a 7-9 team or worse with the 2014 schedule. The 2014 team is undefined so they're using historical trends to predict our record. Based on the last decade or so, that's a good bet to take. We only do well if Earl Mitchell adequately makes up for Soliai's missing production, we can have a consistent semblance of a running game, the sophomore CB's contribute effectively, Dion Jordan contributes at all, and Tannehill progresses even further. It's nice to be optimistic but, like usual, way too many unknown variables with this team to be certain about our record going forward.
We were a competent right tackle away from the playoffs last year. Hopefully we got that missing piece in the first round this year. I'm excited for the year and can't wait to see Tannehill do his thang.
No playoffs should mean that , unless it is one of those years where a 10 and 6 misses out , otherwise au revoir. Of course massive injuries not withstanding and fingers crossed on that of course.
In a way, that is one of my hopes, Ireland took Tannehill, Philbin has done a fine job of developing him, not sure if he is the answer at HC PPL pointed to Kubiak and the need to be patient, we watched it all collapse last season, i'm not sure patience pays dividends at the HC spot any more in the NFL
Well..I will say this. Ive thought we were a few pieces from being a playoff team for years now..and everytime I saw someone pic us 8-8..7-9..I always went..omfg..are they blind...only to watch season go by and they were alot more accurate then I was. So..till we actually do finish better...then thats what we are..a 7-9 team. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
This a million times over, we do not do anything particularly well, there is no strength to build on per se, no Organizational momentum
Not sure what he's done for him to have any fans at this point pod, last year was consistently pretty bad.
Keep thinking on it fellas. I'll be doing my AFC East prediction thread for a free ball-cap again, are we gonna let a guy from MASS win again!??!?!
If the national media and ESPN said it then it has to be a fact. Scrap the season the media has spoken.
No individual unit on the Dolphins is strong enough to make up for a poor performance by other units. Because of this I think the Dolphins are a fragile team and when one aspect has a bad day it is difficult to overcome and win. There is nothing outstanding (although hopeful that some will rise up) older players are getting older and younger players are unknown. 8-8 is a safe pick, obviously, but there is just so much for the haters to hate and the hopeful to hope-for.
